About this cabin rental

Cozy private cabin near Grayson Highlands State Park (4 miles). Peaceful farm stay with mountain views, stargazing, and sunrise deck. Overlooks rescue farm with retired wild pony Fabio, goats, and chickens. Pet-friendly with fenced yard. Fresh eggs, quiet setting, perfect for couples, nature lovers, and a relaxing getaway.

Situated atop a peaceful hillside overlooking our horse farm and animal rescue, Wind Kist is a charming board-and-batten cabin designed for rest, romance, and quiet moments together.

Unwind on the back porch with the gas grill, or spend your evenings on the backyard swing listening to pond night sounds and gazing up at a sky full of stars. Watch hens and mini goats in the nearby paddock, gather fresh eggs for a cozy morning breakfast, and take in the sunrise from the deck with coffee in hand. The pasture below is home to retired wild ponies, including the well-known “Fabio” from Grayson Highlands.

Inside, the inviting living room features a real wood stove for chilly nights, a reclining sofa perfect for relaxing, and a Smart TV. Starlink offers high speed internet throughout the cabin.

The master bedroom offers a king four-poster Sleep Number bed and beautiful mountain views—perfect for slow, peaceful mornings. A smaller guest bedroom includes a queen bed and can comfortably accommodate up to two additional guests, making it ideal for friends or family.

The full bathroom is compact yet efficient, with a tub/shower combo and a rainfall showerhead.

The kitchen is small but well-equipped with essentials, including a gas stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, and full-size fridge. The quaint dining area offers seating for four and overlooks the mountains, perfect for shared meals. You’ll also find seating for four on the back porch for outdoor dining or relaxing together.

Enjoy peaceful walks along wooded trails, visit the rescue farm, or explore nearby mountain towns, shops, and outdoor adventures like hiking, horseback riding, biking, and more—all just minutes away.

We’re here to help make your stay relaxing, memorable, and truly special.

Dogs are welcome with no breed restrictions or pet fees. For safety, they must never be left unattended—even in the fenced yard—due to nearby livestock.

The cabin, back porch, fenced yard, and private parking are all exclusively yours during your stay

We live on the connected farm property and generally available for any needs you may have

There is a small hen named Franny, two miniature goats, and a few mini horses/ponies that live near the cabin, so you may hear them from time to time around the back deck and yard.

We also operate a full farm and animal rescue on the lower property, so occasionally you may hear tractors, diesel trucks, or our sweet donkey, Sadie, in the distance.

Tucked into the woods beside the cabin is our “Neighbor” Tiny Home. While private, you may occasionally see or hear those guests during your stay.
We welcome families and guests traveling with dogs. Please note that goats, ponies, and a chicken share the fence line along the backyard.

If you are bringing dogs, we ask that you do not allow them to bark excessively at the animals. We understand that farm animals may be new and exciting for many dogs, and occasional barking is completely fine. However, repeated or continuous barking—even for a short period—is not permitted, as it can disturb other guests and stress the animals.

For those with children, please ensure they do not yell at, chase, or throw anything at the farm animals at any time.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a peaceful environment for both our guests and our animals.
