About this house rental
We found this land before we found the house.
It's a bluff over the Missouri River, up in the northeast corner of Nebraska where the state runs into South Dakota and Iowa. Long before any of us were here, this was Ponca country, and you can still feel that when you stand at the edge and look out over the water. We used to come up just to watch the river. Eventually we couldn't imagine being anywhere else, so we built a life here, and now we'd love to share it with you.
The cabin was fully renovated in 2025, but we kept the soul of it. The barn on the property was taken apart board by board over in Laurel and brought here to stand again. And if you look down at the kitchen floor, you'll find a silver coin set right into it; that one's for Charlie, the man who started all of this for our family.
Inside the cabin (~2,000 sq ft):
Sleeps up to 10; a queen, a full, two twins, plus two futons when the count runs high
2 full bathrooms inside, plus a his-and-hers outhouse out back
A real kitchen made for big breakfasts and family dinners
Game room; where everyone ends up when the weather turns
Room to spread out or pile together, however the night goes
Out on the grounds:
Fire pit that's seen a thousand s'mores and just as many long talks
Playground for the little ones
Grill, deck, and a balcony over the river — good with a morning coffee
Fishing poles here for anyone who wants them, plus a dock down at the water
Wide-open space, big skies, and eagles for company some mornings
Right next door — Ponca State Park:
20+ miles of hiking trails
Horseback riding and a swimming pool
The Three-State Overlook; see Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa all at once
A full calendar of summer activities for all ages

Bringing grandma and grandpa in the RV? Cabin guests can add on-site hookups, so nobody's far from the fire
