Built in 1963, this house preserves architectural details that are increasingly difficult to find in modern hotels. From the traditional funazoko-tenjo (boat-bottom ceiling) and natural Japanese cypress (hinoki) ceiling, to the fusuma sliding doors, traditional staircase, and distinctive tiled roof, every part of the house offers a glimpse into everyday Japanese life and architecture.

The roof design, reminiscent of traditional Japanese castles and temples, and the gentle fragrance of natural hinoki are particularly special features of the house.

Rather than simply visiting Japan and viewing traditional architecture, BEGINNING gives guests the chance to sleep, eat, relax, and spend time inside it. It is a Japanese cultural experience you can actually live in.

BEGINNING is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, tucked just beyond a small pedestrian-only street with little traffic. Here, you can experience a more peaceful and authentic side of Tokyo.

Just nearby, you’ll find a local supermarket where you can discover fresh Japanese vegetables and ingredients. Our kitchen is equipped with an automatic cooking appliance, allowing you to enjoy a homemade meal during your stay. There are also convenience stores nearby, including Mini Stop and 100YEN LAWSON, which are popular with locals.

With our bicycles, you can easily reach Don Quijote, McDonald’s, KFC, gyudon restaurants, and steak houses. It’s a convenient location for picking up souvenirs, late-night essentials, or a quick snack.

You’ll also find charming local restaurants within walking distance, including a soba and udon restaurant, a traditional rice shop offering handmade onigiri, a Japanese restaurant serving fresh sashimi and seafood bowls at lunchtime, and a small coffee shop.
