The hotel is located in the end of the featured Montreal's Gay Village, where is crowded and good for street sightseeing tourists. It takes about 20 minutes on foot to old Montreal. There are a few bars and pubs across the street with loud music until late evening but that's what you want to feel and see. Our room was on second floor where we could see the people in the street. Decent breakfast provided with croissant, apple pie, muffin, toast from Costco, and coffee and tea. There are 3 large supermarkets, like Metro, IGA, Super C, near by so it was easy to get food and groceries.
There are stains on the carpets as it's in a old building. If replacing the carpets with laminate or vinyl flooring is a great way to upgrade the look of the hotel.

the reviews for hotel ste-catherine do not do this place justice. my friend and i had such a pleasant and wonderful stay! this hotel felt like my home away from home. small cozy room, big bed, AMAZING AC, the mini fridge was very cold (definitely great for hotter summers when you need a cold drink), clean sheets, and a comfy bed. you get an amazing view of gay village and the nightlife! the staff were so very kind to my friend and i (even complimented our outfits since we went for osheaga!), and were so helpful with any questions we had. the room service was excellent, they came every morning to clean the bathroom and replace towels + soap. despite being right in the center of so much nightlife, there wasn't a lot of noise! the hotel is in an amazing area for exploring and getting around montreal! check-out was very easy as well, and was quick. also, despite the lack of an elevator for accessibility, the staff will help in whatever way they can. just be kind and give respect, and you'll get it back by x10! definitely will be booking again!
the only issue was lack of accessibility, but staff will do whatever they can to help out!!
