So overall, I like this property. Yes there is construction in major renovation of the hotel. We stayed in the terrace room, which was a cute little bungalow with a patio. It was missing a mini fridge and a few trash cans.
What I did not like about this property is anytime we wanted to go anywhere we had to go up or down some serious staircases. It does state that in the listing as staircase only from the parking lot, but does not state staircase only to everywhere, example lobby, down to the main road, beach. Possibly when the renovation is done they’ll be another way to get around the property. What I didn’t understand is the pool towels were in the lobby and not by the pool. The pool was directly below our little Casita, but if we need a towel, we had to go down 150 steps, around construction & back up. I’m sure they would’ve brought us a towel, but it just seemed kind of strange. Also near the Casitas, there was no ice machine and the lack of a refrigerator forced us to use an ice chest. Again, just minor things but things that were kind of annoying. After a two day stay and going up and down those stairs constantly I can say I did get a good workout, but it also was exhausting.

The location was perfect. It was across from La Jolla cove. It was under construction, which we knew before hand.
One slow elevator. You had to pay for valet parking. Junk either from birds or construction got all over our windows. When we asked the valet to clean it up, he used a dirty rag and smeared it all over.

The location was right next to the cove so easy to walk to the beach and watch the seals and sea lions. Shops and restaurants were on the block above.
The photos posted are only for the one renovated building. Our room had not been updated since the early 90s. The portable a/c units were only in the bedrooms so the common areas were very hot. The chairs and sofa were covered in stains and the beds were very uncomfortable. Most of the furniture was damaged. We were in a building that required you to carry luggage up the stairs which scale the hillside. Everything about the hotel was inconvenient. You have to get a key card to go to the pool, so once again climbing the stairs. The construction is a massive project and obscures to view of the water.
