A peaceful, family run, luxurious Chianti hilltop hamlet between Florence and Siena
Nothing but 5 stars for Borgo Argenina, and our hosts Stefania and Gabriele who operate as a brother and sister/family owned business. Google Maps directions leave a lot to be desired but I'll get to that at after I tell you about our experience. The property itself Borgo Argenina is a beautiful, peaceful, quiet hamlet on top of the rolling hills between Florence and Siena, part of the Baron Ricasoli era land holdings, which bathes in both morning sunrise and evening sunsets. We stayed in a lovely, updated cottage with premium quality bathroom, kitchenette, queen bed, and exterior private courtyard. The property itself contains many buildings including a small chapel, and a central hall with the kitchen. We were able to book the most amazing cooking experience with Eugenia who taught us the old Italy ways of cooking (may have been the highlight of the whole trip to Europe!). For eating onsite, they offer a simple delicious breakfast buffet with egg dishes, meats, breads, fruits, or you can have it delivered to your room (we recommend the omelette!). They also offer a few premade refrigerated meals and dry pasta/sauces to cook in your cottage. While there's no restaurant onsite, you can drive south and hit a roadside option toward Siena or north to one of the castles for a luxurious lunch. For recreation and relaxation, we jogged the vineyards, and walked the country roads, relaxed by the pool, and the low key vibes were just what we were looking for. A day trip to Siena is an easy 20-30 minute drive and the best route back to Florence, which brings me back to my Google Maps complaint. Google will tell you its 1:15 minutes from Florence airport and may direct you on country roads which are lovely, but the map is based on a 90 kmph speed limit which is silly. That route is a 1.5 lane road, with many stops, hairpin turns, cyclists, and you are not driving 90, more like 40 kmph.
Nothing comes to mind, our whole experience was lovely and amazing! The Google Maps directions were already flagged as flawed.

Wish we could stay longer…
Quiet, stunning and user friendly accommodation. Was great to step away from the busy towns to the country side.
We also really enjoyed the cooking lessons that was additional to the accommodation. The food was delicious and had the best time learning the proper way to cook Italian food.
