What a great little place in an area that's wonderful for walking and close to the metro. Things that are very important to be: beds were firm and comfortable, the shower was hot with good pressure, and the hot tub was exactly needed for a cold season. I'll definitely stay here again!

The apartment was spacious and sparely furnished, which had a charm of its own. It was well supplied with absolutely everything that we needed. The queen bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The living room, which was private, had a comfortable Murphy bed and pull out couch. There was a spacious kitchen and area for eating and hanging out. Parking was supplied behind the building.
It was conveniently located in the charming residential area of Mont-Royal, a block away from many wonderful restaurants and shops and a five minute walk from the Metro. There were also several beautiful parks in the area.
Our landlord, Pierre, could not have been more helpful. He shared many helpful ideas about interesting things to do. He was very respectful of our privacy, and was always available by phone. When my wife got sick he gave us a Covid testing kit and a thermometer. And once it was clear that she did indeed have Covid and that we needed to leave early for our home in Massachusetts, he could not have been more helpful.
We would definitely return to this apartment, and we heartily recommend it! Thank you, Pierre, for being the ideal landlord!

Wonderful rental, had a great stay, but be sure to set aside an extra $100 in your vacation budget.
The owner neglects to charge this fee upfront, yet insists repeatedly how you must be out by X time because another renter is arriving later on. So that the unit can be cleaned, right? Makes sense to me.
So you pick up all your garbage, put the towels in the wash, wash all the dishes, and then get dinged with a cleaning bill after the fact.
It's really disappointing, because until that moment it was an excellent place to stay. As described, adorable, safe, and within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, as well as the metro.
Practically every listing on here has a cleaning fee up front. It's dissapointing that this one does not.

I have been traveling to Montreal for many years, and always stay in the Plateau. Simply the best neighborhood for everyone to enjoy. Pierre’s Les Gargoyles does not disappoint and is a wonderful appointed apartment. Everything in description is accurate and frankly understated. Close to all activities and restaurants, metro, Parc Lafontaine and much more. Amenities in Pierre’s apartment are exceptional. I stayed with my grandson to show him all the sights that I have enjoyed over the years. Thank you Pierre, hopefully I can return to Montreal and visit again

Property was conveniently located within a short walk of the metro and some truly delicious restaurants. Everything was clean and well maintained. Best of all, Pierre was extremely helpful, pleasant to talk with, and offered good advice on how to navigate Montreal and get the most out of our visit.

We were fortunate to book this for a last minute trip. The location cannot be beat. Walking distance to playgrounds, grocery, restaurants and metro. The apartment was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. Pierre was a very kind host. Definitely recommend this property and we hope to visit again!

The apartment had everything we needed for two weeks. I had to be downtown every day for a conference but hotel rates were inflated. The location was perfect, a few blocks from the Mont-Royal metro station. Close to the Avenue but far enough off to be quiet. Maybe too close to St-Viateur Bagel and La Banquise poutine for my own good! Parking a huge plus. Pierre was a perfect host, attentive without being intrusive.

Perfect place to stay on the "Plateau". Definitely not a "party rental" but a perfect pied a terre when visiting the city.
It's close to everything, a great bakery, market at the end of the street.
The place is a nice condo, well furnished.
The owner is very nice, easy to communicate with, accommodating.
Truly a great place to stay in the area. Will be my go to when I come back to Montreal for sure.

Thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at this two-bedroom in the Plateau. Incredibly clean and spacious, it well exceeded our expectations. Situated on a lovely tree lined street, it seemed as though all amenities were a five minute walk away. Pierre was a very gracious host who ensured we had everything we needed.
Definitely looking forward to staying here again on my next Montreal visit.

We arrived at the property to find it was clean and tidy. It was a pleasure to call it home for our stay in Montreal. Nice grocery just down the street. Lots of restaurants to choose from just around the corner! The parking was a bonus!!

Please let me start by saying that this review is not a knock on the place itself, but rather just fair warning for prospective renters that may be looking for something that they are not going to get here.
The place itself and the neighborhood are great. The house is well kept and clean (albeit a tad worn), and the location can't be beat in Montréal. HOWEVER just a fair warning that the hosts are VERY present. Pierre and his partner live in the unit upstairs, so some crossover is to he expected. But if I wanted to stay in a place where I felt like my mother was always watching me and just waiting to criticize how we were living, then I'd go back to being a 16 year old and stay home.
We were constantly talked to like we were children and felt watched like we were degenerates despite the fact that we are both successful young professionals and paid the hosts good money to stay here for four nights. I couldn't even get a day of work in without Pierre coming to knock on the window to tell me that I did something wrong.
The place has a hot tub which, admittedly, is a great perk and quite rare for rentals in the city. But again, FAIR WARNING, it comes with a bunch of rules and apparently you aren't allowed to listen to music at a reasonable level at 12pm on a public holiday (we're talking Tragically Hip, not death metal or hard rap).
I'll leave it at that. Please note that this review is not to discourage people from staying here as it is a great option in one of my favourite parts of the city. Rather, I want to ensure that prospective renters know what they are getting for their benefit and also for the benefit of the hosts!
So if you are looking for a place with some privacy and freedom to enjoy your time away without the feeling of eyes constantly on you, this is probably not the place for you.

Great spot in hip neighborhood
Pierre's place was very clean and he was very accommodating as a host. The parking spot in the back was very useful considering street parking is a little scarce, and the hot tub is pretty awesome as well. A great experience in an awesome location.

Pierre is a terrific host! He is accommodating, helpful and provided very useful information for both Montreal and for our journey to Quebec City. We loved staying at this place! All rooms were clean and functional with adequate space (no small or cramped quarters here). Kitchen with full-sized appliances and working counter space. We used the washing machine and clothes dryer which was a plus that some places do not provide. A real benefit is the private hot-tub in the backyard for a refreshing soak. This place made our stay in Montreal super pleasurable. If in Montreal again, I would most certainly stay here if available!!! Jim Goodyear

Great Property in Plateau Mont-Royal
Pierre is the perfect host and I would recommend his place to anyone. It's in a great neighborhood; is an easy walk to Metro, grocery store, restaurants, and shopping; comes with a parking space (worth its weight in gold in the city); and a hot tub. Additionally, Pierre is very generous with his time in terms of travel advice and local know how.

Amazing
The flat was beyond lovely. Tastefully appointed. Pierre is a gracious host. Actually, this flat makes me want to move to Montreal (I just need to practice my French a bit more). It’s location is awesome. Close to the subway and even close to the main streets. Every thing about it was perfect.

Bel appartement dans beau quartier
Le quartier Plateau Mont Royal est certainement le quartier le plus agréable de Montréal. L'appartement est dans une de ses rues calmes et bordées d'arbres. Les commerces, l'arrêt de bus sont à 100m. La station de métro Mont Royal est à 440m.
L'appartement très propre très bien équipé est agréable. Derrière vous trouverez un jardin avec une terrasse abritée et un barbecue.
Pierre et Myriam les propriétaires qui habitent au dessus sont très disponibles tout en étant très discrets.

Confiance d'abord, et c'est Pierre et Myriam et leur ami Jacques qui nous l'ont transmise, et confort de vie dans la maison et son jardin où rien ne manque, dans le quartier que nous avons aimé retrouver, proche des transports et des commerces, et, surtout, proche de nos enfants et petits-enfants qui s'y sont installés.

Great location in a charming neighbohood!
We absolutely loved staying here! The location met all of our needs....metro, restaurants, groceries, Starbucks, ice cream were within walking distance. It was so convenient, we only used our car a few times during our five day stay. The FREE parking spot was an extra bonus and we felt very safe leaving our car there in this neighborhood. Police station is down the street. The apartment itself had everything we needed and I especially noticed how clean the floors were. It was simple but clean. The landlord upstairs also made sure that we were comfortable and brought us extra pillows and paper goods when we asked. We made friends with the cat that lived on our porch and he was there to great us every day. It definitely felt like home! A great experience overall! .
