About this villa rental

Magnificent villa on three levels with large garden, swimming pool with seawater, descent to private sea.
Built in the 1970s, it enjoys a breathtaking view of Capri and the Gulf of Naples.
It is located in one of the most beautiful corners of the coast of Massa Lubrense, less than ten minutes, by car, from the center of the village.
The villa is divided into two main houses, in the same building, completely independent, which nevertheless use the pool and the descent to the sea.
This description refers only to the property called "Il Geco" subject of the description below. The second property can be occupied by the owners or their guests.
Access to the villa is through an avenue of a private park with automatic gate on the provincial road Massa-Marciano (via IV Novembre, 36).
The swimming pool, used from May to October, is filled with seawater; it is about 10 m x 6 m wide with a depth ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 m. The terraces around the pool, imposing directly on the sea, require assistance for children, as there are no complete fences. There are deckchairs and sunbeds. Bathing in the pool is a unique experience and you can get the impression of being suspended on the sea.
Only 100 steps allow direct access to the sea, through a private descent of the villa, with access to the rocks.
The main entrance of "Il Geco" is entirely occupied by the main living room (about 60 square meters), the dining room, a small bathroom and the kitchen.
The large living room overlooks one of the large terraces with two large window doors; the two large windows at the corners of the room are oriented towards Capri and the Faraglioni and the second towards Vesuvius.
The room has a large fireplace that is fully functional, which, on cooler evenings, becomes the center of the living space, surrounded by sofas. The living room is equipped with a Hi-Fi system with CD player and a turntable (there is an extensive collection of classical music records). In one corner of the room there is a large TV screen, connected to a satellite antenna that allows you to watch the main international channels, as well as Italian TV.
There is phone and open wi-fi connection.
The villa has 4 double bedrooms with independent bathroom and AC. The additional 2 bedrooms with bunk beds, and a room with one and a half square beds and independent bathroom are available on request. The equipment, all perfectly and regularly functioning are the original ones of the villa.
All double rooms have air conditioning.
The total number of beds is 8 (+5 on request).
The main bedroom of the house, is on level -1. It is about 40 square meters and has a large window door on the front terrace (large independent panoramic terrace on level -1) and a side window. The main double bed and furniture are in "Italian" style. In the room there is a separate dressing room with a large mirror. The room has an external and internal telephone line and air conditioning.
The bathroom is in front of the room access pass and has toilet, bidet, sink and shower.
The second double bedroom on level -1 has two windows that open onto two different views. Air conditioning. The attached bathroom has toilet, bidet, sink and shower.
The third double bedroom on level +1, has a panoramic balcony and a side window. The attached bathroom has toilet, sink and shower. Air conditioning.
The fourth double bedroom has two windows and a large private hallway. The attached bathroom has toilet, bidet, sink and shower. Air conditioning.
the 3 optional single rooms have bunk beds. an optional fourth bedroom has a bed a square and a half and independent bathroom and air conditioning.
The construction is from 1970 and therefore, although in good condition, the villa demonstrates a certain age.
Tourist taxes will be paid directly to the owner (7.5 Euro/week/person > 12 years).THere is also to pay the consumption of electricity. This will be calculated through the measurements at the meters at the entrance and returning at check out any savings compared to the amount advanced

Our flight was delayed by 3 hours so our whole arrival plans had to be adjusted. However, Nino from Persico Car Service was in constant contact to make sure all went well with our transport to the Villa. Sonia was also updated and was available to meet us at the villa for a smooth transition. We were somewhat disappointed that there was another group in the upper level of the villa, as I understood that we had rented the entire villa. They were only there for one night and then left. Another party came in and were very much night owls so that was disruptive of our nights sleep. Description of the villa should stress that there is an "owners apartment" separate from this villa but is in same building and could likely be rented during your booked dates so do not anticipate having the all level complex (villa), pool, and grounds to your group only. That said, the grounds and views from our villa were stunning, loved watching all the boats heading out in the mornings to Capri and the Amalfi Coast. Beautiful sunsets every evening. Villa showed it's age and was only updated where absolutely necessary. However, we were all comfortable enough and the beautiful weather, pool, grounds and views made up for anything lacking inside the villa. The meal at villa by Titina was fabulous and is a must do. Also loved Angelo's at the Marina. Was a wonderful time for our family. NOTE: it is a very steep, long walk up from villa to the road entrance of the community.

This is a wonderful place with absolutely stupendous views. As we had read in the detailed description sent before our arrival, it is not in pristine condition, built in the seventies the style is nevertheless charming, though it shows here and there some tear and wear but nothing major and it rather adds to the charm. Built on a steep slope, like most if not all houses in that region, the house has many levels, which allows to have quiet and privacy in most bedrooms. We really enjoyed our stay, with only one issue, which has to do with the weather. We did not expect such a cold early April there. And unfortunately this house is meant for life outside on the various terraces, especially the main one with a very large and beautiful dining table which we were only able to use once. Due to the cold we had to stay inside, and there, two problems:1. The heating system is old and not very efficient, and in particular there is no heating in the bathrooms. 2. The table in the dining area is too small for the size of the house when it is full. We were 11 adults and could barely squeeze around it.Sonja was very responsive to our call for help and had an extra heating device delivered, in addition to repairing the faulty heaters. So we would definitely highly recommend this house for the warm season - which we understand extands for most of the year - but not when the weather is cold!(The steep slopes are not ideal for small kids but I guess it it the same wherever you go there)

It was the wrong season for the pool, but our kids loved playing in the outdoor spaces even in January. The household manager was wonderful. Our three families had enough room to relax, share meals and play lots of board games.

Anyone can own a beautiful property (and Nello does) but a host as kind and accommodating as Nello is a pleasant rarity. We visited in March of 2020 as part of our wedding plans. We worked with Nello for over a year to choose the villa and make plans for activities during our planned 10-day visit. When we arrived, not only was Sonia, the caretaker ready to meet us right on time in town, but we were surprised to find that Nello had come to meet us as well and congratulate us on our wedding. He even took us to see a few local sights that we wouldn't have easily found on our own. The villa itself is beautiful, and in a stunning location. There are many plenty of bathrooms for the property, the kitchen is clean and well-stocked, and every bedroom has a view of some kind. To an American, there were a few quirks to get used to, like bidets, and a dishwasher that has to be turned on before you set it to run, but those are minor adjustments that only add to the experience of being in an authentic Italian home.Unfortunately while we were visiting, the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus was impacting Italy and we had to cut our visit short. We were very disappointed to need to leave, but incredibly grateful that Nello supported us through the process. He was supportive of us staying until we could arrange flights home, and flexible to credit us for time after we left. In an unfortunate situation, we were extremely lucky to be working with Nello and Sonia.I truly hope that Italy will recover quickly from this pandemic, and that we can return to visit Nello in this stunning location.
