very disappointing would of driven home if i did not have to meet up with work colleagues

Nothing should not be letting the room out to anyone.

everything cold dirty no space to sit on toilet in the bathroom heating was a joke room freeezing

Really lovely stay and John the owner was very helpful.

I only paid £39.50 and it was fabulous. Brilliant value for money and right beside the beautiful Minster.

Worst hotel experience of my life

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS

Nothing to like, accommodation cancelled at last minute

Accommodation cancelled booking at last minute - and charged me for the stay! My daughter in law lives locally and raised an eyebrow when I told her, apparently they have a very bad reputation locally. Such a shame such a beautiful building has fallen into such unscrupulous hands. When I rang the property to let them know I had been charged for the (non) stay the woman I spoke to was obtrusive and objectionable.

WHY IS THIS EVEN LISTED ON BOOKING.COM. Incidentally, there was another would be visitor trying to stay - he had the same problem he also found somewhere else. I’m currently ‘in-dispute with PayPal’. DO NOT BOOK HERE EVER!

The host never returned or answered any of our calls. We had to get a last minute room at premier inn. Where the staff told us he was a regular in there and had just been thrown out for been too drunk and causing arguments

The worst stay of my life

Our experience at the Minster Garth; The owner took 40 minutes to respond to us when we arrived. He then kept us waiting another 15 minutes. He was drunk and half-dressed. He had no recollection of our booking and proceeded to open every room of the hotel. They were all un-made except our family room but was still filthy. He swore and was abusive the whole time and called his son-in –law a C@@t. I will report him to the council.

Disgusting service

On arrival there was no room available, despite the fact they took the money. They have ignored all calls and messages. They have not refunded the money even though they could not deliver the service they offered. It was also a lot different from the pictures. Windows were smashed on the outside. I was directed to the news paper articles about this place once a friend found out. This is a total scam and I am surprised booking.com let them on here

Poor reception, unhelpful woman on phone. Booked one double and one single, was given a twin which she described as an upgrade! I would liken it to a hovel and unacceptable. She denied receipt of second booking even when booking.com confirmed it and I had an email confirming it. We booked ourselves into somewhere else and didn't stay there. The arrival of Police at our door was 'interesting' (they were trying to help another poor guest)

Nothing the property is so unsafe and unclean

Unsafe overloaded plugs, also not pat tested. Freshly painted so room smelt like paint fumes, couldn’t open window, double room yet only 1 cup and 1 dirty towel, paint stains on bedding, chair legs fell on when sat on, bed uncomfortable, nails sticking out bottom on bed where feet go. Half used toilet rolls, curtains hanging off rail, lamp doesn’t work. Rude owner on the phone

One night away

Lovely views. Lovely decor. Quiet. Plenty of room despite having 5 beds. Nice bathroom.

Hole in the window. Tile missing in the bathroom. No chairs. Scaffolding outside. Cold, had to keep the heater on.

The location and building were lovely, the room comfortable and very clean, the service inadequate.

The location is lovely, the room was bigger than I'd expected and very clean but smelled strongly of cigarette smoke throughout my stay - I suspect it came from the room downstairs, and of fresh paint fumes from the work being done on the building. The bed was comfortable but the duvet thin and not very warm. I had brought a heat pad with me which I was grateful for.

The code written on my door-key fob for the front door of the building was incorrect and when I went out on my first evening I couldn't get back in until some other guests arrived with the right number. I was also very surprised by the unprofessional response to my statement, "I shall be accompanied by a small, well behaved dog" which was, "Oh shall you. Fur coat no . . " the last implied word presumably being 'knickers'. This was followed up by "Ps would it be ok if I bring dog please ?" which was no doubt your suggestion of a less haughty communication, which I felt unnecessary and rude.

Not great.

Stayed here before, years ago. Was cheap and cheerful but clean and well kept at the time with a lovely lady owner. Thought we would try it again!

Cold room, stained sheets, TV didn't work. Around midnight there were other guests banging on our room windows as they couldn't get in. Shower and sink didn't drain very well.

Don't know where to start, Bedding had marks and stains, could smell damp as soon as you opened the door, unable to watch TV as signal kept going.

Passable

Location is brilliant. Tea and coffee, plus cups and a mugs which was great. Bathroom was lovely and big. Storage space was good and places to hang clothes and put in drawers.

Bathroom was really dirty- I had to clean the sink before I could use it and the toilet listen had a layer of dirt on it that I could write my name on.
