The Space:
The Penthouse (RUFO, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2). This ONE bedroom gem is located on the third level of the main house. One of the most sought after retreats in the Villa, this residence features a large covered private terrace with dining for 4+. The living room and kitchenette (bar fridge, two burner ceramic cooktop, toaster oven, microwave, toaster and coffee maker) share the outdoor space.
THE VILLA
Colibri is a luxurious six bedroom retreat within walking distance of restaurants, bars, shopping the Gay Village and the iconic Los Muertos beach. This 7,500 square foot staffed Villa is divided into four sophisticated apartments each with their own kitchen, living and dining area. This unique design offers up to 12 guests that extra bit of privacy for that perfect getaway within a getaway.
Lush tropical gardens throughout the Villa provide the ideal surrounding to view the dozens of hummingbirds which visit daily. It’s only fitting that each residence has been named after these magical creatures. A mix of private and shared terraces offer spectacular views of the Town, Banderas Bay, Sierra Madre Mountains and the majestic Crown of Our Lady Guadalupe. A heated rooftop salt water pool, lounge areas and bar provide the perfect day or night setting for rest and relaxation. With an emphasis on outdoor living, the inner courtyard is just one of many areas where groups can gather for business and/or pleasure. Whether it be for a wedding, or a romantic dinner for two Colibrí has you covered. Colibri is uniquely suited to host large and small gatherings such as weddings, reunions, birthdays and corporate and not-for-profit events.

Rooftop amenities include heated saltwater pool, two lounge areas with umbrellas, bar and dining area (seating for up to 16).
The Penthouse has a large covered private terrace with a dining area with seating for 4+. Colibri's inner courtyard has a mix of casual seating, dining area (seating for 8+) and a built-in 4 burner Weber barbecue with rotisserie. Colibri's front courtyard has a mix of casual seating and lush tropical gardens.
The Villa is serviced by high speed Fibre Optic cable. The entire property is covered by WIFI W/6 separate broadcasting access points.
The Penthouse comes with a kitchenette with bar fridge, toaster oven and two burner ceramic cooktop. It also comes with a 12-cup coffee maker, 2-slice toaster, microwave and an assortment of cookware, bakeware, dinnerware, glassware, stemware, cutlery, cooking utensils, serving platters and bowls. Complimentary pantry items include include salt, pepper, coffee, tea and sugar.
The Penthouse bedroom has a 55 inch Samsung LED Smart television. We offer complimentary Netflix.
The bedroom is air conditioned and comes with a security safe. Ceilings fans are located throughout the apartment.
Soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, paper products, bath, hand and beach towels provided. 800 thread count sheets and pillowcases with duvet also provided.
Laundry facilities are also available. Personal items may be laundered for a small fee. Not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged articles. The Penthouse is equipped with an iron and ironing board.

The Villa is located a short distance up a hill within walking distance to Zona Romantica.
Getting Around:
Villa Colibrí MX is walking distance away from restaurants, bars, local shopping and the Gay Village. Day trips for a variety of activities (such as zip lining, ATV tours, Botanical Gardens and whale watching) are also easily accessible and can be arranged by our Concierge service. UBER and taxi service also available.

Housekeeping is provided. Our staff works Monday through Saturday (excluding national holidays).

Everything is as described. The host was attentive and Justin provided help with a small maintenance need. The view is awesome! Walking up and down the hill and steps is a great workout, allowing us to eat all the wonderful food in PV

Overall: Rufo is a great little place for 2 people to spend the weekend. Walkable to everything (the walk up the hill is short), its a perfect location. The view is amazing!! Felt like we were on top of the city. The shared pool and courtyard area is a great place to hang out, we had the whole thing to ourselves. Plus, just enough kitchen supplies to cook a few basic meals.
Cons: The city is noisy with construction and dogs. We ended up not minding it too much after the first day. It quiets down at night and the aircon helps block it out. The unit was cleaned, but not very recently so there was a good layer of dust on everything. Last, the shower either runs boiling hot or room temperature - no in between.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and took a million pictures of the view! Thanks Villa Colibri!

We loved this spot. Beautiful view, friendly staff, the outdoor spaces (pool, bar, courtyard). It really felt like a home away from home. It was close to a few fun strips of bars, restaurants, taco stands and shops. Only downside is the mornings can be a little nosiy with the sounds of the city (particularly on mixed up rooster) 😁

Our stay at Casa Colibri was overall wonderful. The villa itself is beautifully decorated, full of amenities, and boosts a fantastic view of Bandaras Bay. The House Manager, Abe, was very attentive and always helpful. It's worth noting that the sitting area and kitchenette are on the patio (literally open-air). Our room was cleaned weekly with fresh linens and supplies provided when requested. Communication with the owner and house manager was good. They keep us informed and answered all questions. However, there are two things I feel the property description on VRBO should have included.
Puerto Vallarta and especially the Romantic Zone is located in the hills. There is always lots of walking and inclines to be expected when in PV. However, Casa Colibri is located up a VERY VERY steep hill. You then have to climb a set of stairs to enter the villa's main gate. Once inside, RUFO is on the top floor so more stairs! There is no alternate route to the villa....the steep hill and stairs are unavoidable. Forget about wearing cute sandals or any sort of heel if you're going out. Tennis shoes or athletic sandals are absolutely a requirement. Or, you may need to take a taxi. We've visited PV many times and walk everywhere. I know the cobblestone streets are tough stuff and the sidewalks in PV are not ideal so I pack accordingly. I simply feel the location of the villa should be mentioned in the property description so guests are not caught off guard when they arrive. Also, some potential guests may not be physically able to handle the incline or stairs so it needs to be pointed out.
Secondly, the sounds of PV always include crowing roosters and barking dogs. BUT...there are 2 dogs chained to a fence at the base of the condo building. They bark and cry literally all day and night. Their barks echo around the villa's courtyard area making it impossible to sleep. After our first night there, we mentioned this to the house manger and were given earplugs. Hmmmm.....don't really want to be forced to sleep with earplugs on my vacation.
The two issues above were significant enough that I needed to mention them in my review so that potential guests can make an informed decision. When booking this property and still to date, there are no reviews for me to rely on. I do realize the property owners can't change the villas location or quite dogs they don't own so it seems these things are permanent characteristics.
