Geräumiges Cottage mit künstlerischem Touch in schöner Gartenlandschaft..

Der Besitzer hat eine Oase geschaffen und betreibt das Anwesen mit Herzblut. Die Cottages liegen in einem schön gewachsenen Garten und morgens gibt es zum Frühstück Vogelkunde zu Alex selbst gebackenem Brot. Er zeigte uns im Dunkeln wo die Frösche sitzen und es ist ihm anzumerken, wie sehr sein Herz an der Natur hängt.Touren buchen ist einfach, die Angestellten super nett.

Das einzige was stört ist die Hauptstraße, auf der Tag und Nacht die lauten LKW fahren. Dafür kann Alex nichts, denn als er seine Anlage baute, gab es die Straße und den Schwerlastverkehr noch nicht. Leichtschläfer sollten lieber mit Ohrstöpseln schlafen.

Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich und offen und hat sein Interesse zu den Tieren mit uns geteilt; das Dschungel Gefühl

Rustic accomodation. Lots of wildlife.

This property is so laid back it is almost horizontal. Rustic cottages with rustic amenities in a mature garden (planted by the owner some 30 years ago) with tall trees, lots of birds, including toucans, frogs, iguanas etc. The owner is a keen naturalist so if you are into Costa Rican wildlife this place is definitely for you. A good breakfast with youghurt, muesli, fruits, and very good home made bread. We relied on our own cognisance to book trips.

Wifi available only in the restaurant / chilling area.

Geweldige tuin!

De enorme weelderige tuin! Eigenhandig aangelegd door Alex. Er wonen heel veel kikkertjes, een luiaard, stekelvarkens en nog veel meer. Alex was enorm behulpzaam en gaf informatie over wat te doen in de omgeving. Enigzins jammer dat het zo dicht bij een drukke weg ligt.

Enige nadeel is de ligging zo dicht langs een drukke weg MAAR laat dat je niet tegenhouden!

Als stop over durchaus zu empfehlen

Urige Hütte in Dschungelathmosphäre mit ebensolchem Garten. Man glaubt es nicht, wenn man von der belebten Fernstraße auf das Gelände einbiegt.

Bis spät in die Nacht hört man die donnernden Trucks, gedämpft durch das Baum-, und Blattdickicht. Aber es ist nicht unerträglich.

Pleasant

Gorgeous landscaping, cool wildlife like a toucan and frogs on site. It really feels like you are staying in the jungle. Cute cottages, it felt like we were staying in a gingerbread house. The owner is very friendly and proud of the facility. We arranged a river cruise from the hotel which was excellent.

You have to understand this isn't a US hotel. We tried to keep reminding ourselves of this. Nevertheless, bugs get in easily to the room, the beds aren't very comfortable and there is a little airflow, making it pretty stuffy. Checkin was confusing, you just need to flag someone down.

Alex is an amazing host with an incredible story who is very knowledgeable about nature. He went above and beyond in showing me around the property and the hidden gems within it, including excellent views of Red-eyed tree frogs

- Beautiful garden - the owner of the place is very kind - we saw nice birds, animals and frogs in the garden

- The place was just next to the main road so it was very noisy (but it is the case of most f of accomodations in puerto viejo de sarapiqui) - The room was maybe a bit expensive compared to same quality room elsewhere

Breakfast with birds is great!

Alex is a fantastic hosts, helping us to to discover the abundance of wildlife right on the property. Also goes out of his way to be helpful with whatever else his guests need. Breakfast with bird watching! A rafting company that also caters to white water kayakers right on the premises.

Nothing major. Electricity in our bungalow was not entirely reliable, with some outlets sometimes cutting out briefly - which we did not mention to Alex, since it was a minor irritation, but if we had he might have fixed it. I would have liked to have had a comfy armchair ( with a footstool perhaps😊) for extended lazy birdwatching (accompanied by Alex’ excellent coffee) from the lounge.

Nice cabin in a beautiful garden. Kind host, who makes a delicious breakfast with home baked bread. Lots of frogs in the garden. Arranged rafting tour for us.

I only heard at check out that I had to pay 15$ extra to pay by credit card. Would have been nice if this would have been told on arrival. Bad wifi only in common area, no wifi in the rooms. Mattress doesn’t sleep well, you can feel the spring in it. Pillows old and filled with strange material, doesn’t sleep nice.

Close to nature, caring owner, great hospitality.

Amazing place with amazing host

Andrea Cristina is very good place for birdwatchers since it is in walking distance from La Selva Biological station. Also, you can see a lot of birds at the property itself. Alex is amazing host, definitely the best we encountered during our one month in Costa Rica. He is enthusiastic, clearly loves his work and people and animals... He is also former guide so he know all the birds and other animals, which we highly appreciated. The cabins are clean, nice and situated in amazing garden.

It would be good to have a coffee maker in the cabin

We are fortunate to have travelled widely but I think Alex and his son Kevin are probably the most accommodating and kin

if you love nature and wildlife, this place is for you. it is set in its own grounds. Alex has a few bird tables next to where you eat his wonderfully fresh breakfasts. You can sit and watch the most beautiful birds feasting at the same time as you. we saw sloths, toucans, green eyed frogs, macaws and porcupines as well in the grounds.

We had a great time and we would always come back.

We had a very nice, spacious and clean bungalow, with a nice, private patio, situated in a beautiful garden full of plants and small animals. We felt like being in a jungle. The owners and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Breakfast was delicious, including homemade bread, lots of fresh fruits, scrambled eggs, good coffee and fresh juice. We did two fantastic tours, a paddle tour with a focus on bird watching and a river rafting tour which was super fun. Both tours were operated by the organisation Green River and organised via Andrea Cristina.

Great stay at Sarapiquí hosted by the best

Alexander is a great host who will help you with anything needed. He invites everyone to feel as if they're part of his family. The breakfast has simply been the best we've had in our trip in Costa Rica. Outdoors area is amazing!!

The room itself isn't the cleanest since there is no broom or mop to clean and it gets dirty easily since the outdoors area is pretty much jungle. Table and chairs are missing inside the room. Real hot water is missing too.

Amazing stay, our favorite place in Costa Rica

The place and the host Alex were absolutely amazing! This was our favorite place in Costa Rica without any doubt. The cabin is in this amazing garden super rich in terms of flora and fauna. We've seen more animals there than in some expensive parks in La Fortuna : sloths, toucans, many birds, frogs, iguanas, porky pine. The breakfast was also really good and you will be able to have it in this amazing garden surrounded by birds : it's priceless! Alex has been of great help with the organization of the activities we wanted to do in Sarapiqi and he helped us spot the animal in the garden. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we had stayed longer. We highly recommend it!

Amazing cabinas

The family there is fantastic. I went rafting with one of the sun as they do some tours as well. I have been around Costa Rica few weeks already and I really enjoyed to stay there 2 nights. time to do rafting

Very good breakfast with home made bread. In short distance to the village, good food in range. Absolutely amazing staff!
