Good localisation and nice private room

Nice place and well located. We had a private room upstairs and felt that we had even more privacy.

The breakfast is very simple and if you arrive 30min before the end you might not get the same thing.

Bright room with a terrace

The room is simple but has a nice day light and is quite spacious. Wifi works well. You share the bathroom only with 1 more room. I liked the terrace in front of the room with a hammock. You get a pretty big pancake for breakfast.

The staff could be nicer but it seems to be a thing in San Juan del Sur.

Mienten en la descripción. 1e: no esta enfrente de la playa, está cerca, pero no justo en ella. 2o: el desayuno NO está incluido, cuando llegué les pregunté y me dijeron que NO estaba incluido, que ellos daban un panqueque como cortesía, pero NO desayuno. Les dije que no podría comer eso, si me lo cambiaban por fruta o cualquier otra cosa sin leche o huevos y me dijeron que "NO, porque no es un desayuno, es de cortesía. Si quiere desayuno son 8$" además me lo dijo todo de muy malos modos. Ni siquiera fue capaz de darme cualquier cosa de fruta que sería ridículamente barato.

Exceptional

We kept coming back here as we passed through San Juan del Sur. Very nice and clean space with a big breakfast. I recommend you ask for the upstairs room if you go private as they are super airy and you get lots of privacy with a hammock. They also let us leave some stuff there in between our visits which eased our load a lot. ALSO, it's right next to the best comedor I've been to!!!

very central and walking distance to everything. our dorm was nice with fans

the breakfast with pancakes is not good. And there are decorative holes out to the receptions from the dorm room, which means it is quite noisy. you can’t lock your room.

Don't recommand

The kitchen is functional, lots of fans in the room

The hostel is in a very loud place, the staff talks loud in the dorm in the morning and wakes you up to ask for your name because they have no idea if you're supposed to check out, the wifi sucks. Also only one bathroom. Definitely way too expensive for what you get.

Backpacking hostel

The location was perfect, directly in the center of San Juan del Sur

The breakfast was included but you got only one plain pancake No towels provided no AC but two fans so it was fine The personal don't speak English very well so it was difficult with questions and they could have been more friendly

great value for money for the location

it’s location is great and the staff were awesome. super friendly and nice with us.

the only problem we had was our shared bathroom didn’t always have water in it. but unfortunately for the price we paid and area etc it was okay and we could still go downstairs and use the other bathroom.

Perfect hostal one minute walk to the beach

The private room was perfect for us! The bed was super comfy, and having two fans was ideal! The giant pancake for breakfast was a hit too! It’s a one minute walk to the beach

if you plan to get so drunk that you can pass out anywhere this is the place for you

great location - unfortunately that’s the only great thing about it . the staff were extremely helpful as I speak Spanish however if you don’t speak Spanish it would be hard as they don’t speak English - which I like - embrace the country you are in

i didn’t even think it would be allowed to have so many people crammed Into such small confines . I felt like cattle in a truck

perfect for one night or if you don’t hang out in the hostel bc surfing or else

-well located, next to the yummie buffet (only 100 C$ for a plate!) and close to the beach etc -there‘s a kitchen at the hostel -there was just 1 fan for 4 bottom beds (the top ones had their own fans) i’ve asked for one and within 5 minutes they gave me another fan. Very helpful staff :)

-my bed: no space, I slept in de corner bunk, literally 30 cm space between my matras and the other bed. -breakfast was included but I left to Costa Rica around 6:30 am (with a shuttle I booked at Los Chamos) but breakfast starts at 7.. nothing is open yet at that time so without a breakfast into shuttle to costa rica wasn’t super.. maybe they can make a breakfast-to-go for people who leave early (or give a discount or whatever..)

Good location- close to everything

Very small room, dirty shower and a lot of bugs lacks communal area- small table and chairs outside only . No bar. The location makes it okay value for money but overall would not recommend

Good hostel. Don’t book the shuttle service!!

Location is excellent. The hostel is good, has a decent kitchen. We had a good stay at Hostal Los Chamos.

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience with their shuttle service. As guests of the hostel, we feel completely let down. We were sold their shuttle service to La Fortuna, advertised as $35pp. The owner sold us the shuttle with such confidence - that we would be dropped to the border, where another shuttle would bring us to Cañas in Costa Rica. From there we would take a direct chicken bus to La Fortuna. The owner explained this very clearly to us and we accepted his offer. We had considered taking chicken buses the whole way, but this shuttle service sounded a lot more straight forward. The shuttle turned out to be just the manager of the hostel driving us the 40 mins to the border and said the next shuttle would arrive in 1hour. We waited for almost 2.5 hours. By then a TransNica Bus pulled up and took us through immigration. After leaving our hostel at 9.30am, we finally arrived in Cañas at 5pm after a long day of hanging around, with no chicken bus to La Fortuna to be seen. There never was a direct chicken bus to La Fortuna, like the manager insisted. There is a bus from Cañas to Tilarán, and another bus from Tilarán to La Fortuna 3 times a day, the last one leaving at 3.30pm. We ended up losing out on our La Fortuna accomodation and having to book into a hostel in Cañas instead. We messaged the property directly regarding this issue but have not heard anything back.

Bed, location and wifi

The staff was rude: He give us other room that what we paid. He didn't want to change and did not take into account the reservation. Because of the hour (in the night) we coudn't go and try to find other hostel. In that room was AC and fan, but he asked for extra fee for remote. Incredible. Wasn't any towel in the room - I have to asked and he give us just 1, and the second with a deposit Do you believed? 2 person with 1 towel??? What a situation! Breakast very poor ( 2 slides of bread, small omlett and only coffee)

Nice place, amazing location.

Location ! comfortable and clean room. Bit of mould though. Lovely staff. Nice outdoor patio but a bit dark .

Exceptional

Don’t book the shuttle with the hostel. We had to wait two hours plus at the bus stop (even though you pay for a private shuttle) once there a woman told us the bus was booked and offered to pay us back $13 out of the $35 we had paid. this happened to us plus 5 other people. after waiting and refusing to take the money they found us another bus to take us. during this whole experience we had no news from the hostel and from what the lady at the bus stop was saying she had previsouly told the hostel there were no spots left for us.
