Spacious, comfortable, peaceful. Recommended for other large families who want a bit more space.

We had the original 3 bed unit upstairs for our family of 6. The unit was very clean, spacious and comfortable. It has 3 good size bedrooms with another double bed I the main lounge area. There is also a balcony where you can take in the views and listen to the sounds of the birds chirping. The manager Robin was extremely helpful and pleasant and went out of his way to show us around the apartment as we checked in and made sure all was just right for us.

Robin, the host was awesome, very welcoming and super quick in response to everything.

Wonderful location easy to walk to all the shops, restaurants and a grocery store. Easy access to the all the tourists areas too.

The lack of privacy from the balcony.

Great place to stay about half way to or from Milford Sound.

Early check in and also neat tidy room facilities.

Beds could be softer and updated.

Very good location, excellent host willing to please us as much as possible

Very good location, 2 minutes from the lake . Excellent host, upgraded us to please my request for a view and even did our laundry!!!

Great Motel

We got an upgrade to a bigger apartment and we were very happy about it. The apartment we got was homey and cozy. Robin was the most pleasant, informative and kind host we had in New Zealand. We had a great time and we highly recommend the motel.

Was true to expectations of a retro accomodation, was a lovely comfortable stay.

Robin, the manager was very helpful and attentive. The unit was very clean and close to the lake and a short walk to the Main Street.

Receprion was bad on the first day but went well after.

Reception was very bad.we had an issue on our booking.our mistake but they handled it very bad. Children got traumatize because of receptionist high voice and angry.

Our host, Robin was so attentive to our needs and more. Those little things, such as assisting with the washing and ensuring our heater was up high for our return after our Milford Sound tour, meant so much.. thank you :) We were upgraded into a one bedroom which was very spacious and comfortable. It had everything we needed. The location was excellent. Not too far walking distance along the lake into town. Although was a balmy 2 degrees and I’m sure the wind chill factor was much lower lol

Warmest Stay!!

Awesome Accommodation provider. If your looking for warm, cozy with a plenty of space, then book Red Tussock. The Three Bedroom Apartment we got was huge and clean. Plan to extend last minute unfortunately, they are fully booked. We will be back again for sure. Big thanks to Robin, very informative host.

avoid in summer

good location, clean room

No aircon or ceiling fan. Had booked a room with aircon but turns out it was a mistaken listing from previous management. Manager didn’t believe we had booked a room with aircon until we showed confirmation and he called booking.com. Offered a desk fan which we accepted but it didn’t help much. Said he was going to reduce the tariff for the error, but didn’t.

Superb

Modern, clean and spacious upstairs apartment. Easy walk into Tekapo township. Friendly staff. Kindly offered to books any trips we wanted, and evening meals. Highly recommend.

Great base for Fiordland holida

we had a 2 bedrrom retro unit which gave the teo of us plenty of room. we used the twin room as a dressing room. Good to have a full kitchen with oven as we weren’t planning to eat out.

Great host and good location. Clean, large and comfortable!

Firstly, the Manager Robin was super helpful - obviously really enjoys his job! His Assistant, Obi-Wan Kenobi the dog, was very cute. We had a first floor with balcony with a view of the lake - room was a great size, clean and with all facilities you need.

The only minor thing was the mattres is almost ready for an upgrade - but we still sleep well.

Robin from Red Tussock Motel got us an upgrade when he found out we were there for our honeymoon. The room was great, the view from upstairs was magnificent. He is very very friendly. Would highly recommend getting rooms on the 2nd level, for the amazing views.

A lovely motel, scrupulously clean, in an excellent location.

We were upgraded into a beautiful large room upstairs with a view of the mountains. It had a superbly comfortable bed, a lovely kitchenette and a beautiful bathroom with a really great shower. Very clean and fresh. We hadn't been expecting such a luxurious stay - it was a real treat. It's also in a great location, just across the road from Lake Te Anau and good walking distance to the restaurants and shops. The owner, Robin, was delightful - extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local sights, restaurants etc. We wish we could have stayed longer as it was a real home away from home in a fantastic location.

Great location at quieter end of town. Handy for walk along lake to wildlife park, control gates or lakefront. Right opposite DOC visitor centre. Friendly and helpful manager.
