CUTE, COMFORTABLE & ROOMY Our 3 bedroom/ 3 bath cottage has a King bed in the upstairs master, a queen bed in the downstairs guest bedroom and two bunks - 1 w/ full bed on the bottom and twin on the top. The second set of bunks is a twin/twin. We also have a queen sleeper sofa for additional guest. We have plenty of storage space so you won't feel cramped...we regularly visit our cottage, so we want it to be nice for ourselves too. FULL KITCHEN equipped with all you need for at home dining...including a blender for smoothies or other icy treats. So plan to cook up your daily catch or pick up some fresh seafood at the market. The grocery store is minutes away. WASHER & DRYER in the unit, save your coins for the wishing well! WALKING TRAIL just in front of our gated community. You can't help but to WANT to go for long walks on the lovely palm tree-lined path. VALUE: While we're not beachfront, our cottage is the next best thing because we are just a 3 minute walk to the beach, and we are in a superb beach community and offer extra perks while saving you $1000 or more what the beachfronts would charge. This is the ideal place to pile on great beach memories! Besides the fantastic beach at MIramar Beach (we provide beach service set up in season!)... Enjoy water sports such as taking surf lessons or paddle boarding at on of the many beach service companies. The guys there are super friendly! Plan a day for deep sea fishing, golf or head to Bass Pro Shop - it's like Christmas for the outdoorsman. Go shopping at the Shoppes at Paradise Key and Destin Commons, which are about 2 mile away from the community. Silver Sands Outlet shopping is a short drive away. Go to popular eating spots such as The Crab Trap, Beach Walk Cafe, and Camille's Sidewalk Cafe. Of course we can not forget to mention Golf! Dont forget our wonderful Golf courses! There are (10) Championship golf courses within a few miles of this location. Each offers its own character and challenges. All are public courses with full service facilities with a restaurant, practice range, rental clubs, professional lessons and pro shop stocked to meet your needs. Destin, Florida is known as the ”World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” & boasts of being home to the largest fishing vessel fleet in the state of Florida. Fish from the beach or boat. If you do not want to bring your boat, one of Destin’s many charter boats would love the opportunity to take you out for full or half day excursions. Water surrounds Destin with the intercoastal waterway to the north and Gulf on the south, creating an abundance of water sports available, including kayaking, wave running, parasailing, kite surfing, snorkeling and so much more! Destin has it all.

We had a wonderful stay that could have only been better if the weather had cooperated the whole week. The house was very nice! My only complaint is that we were expecting a futon bed in the king room, only to find out one wasn’t located in there. There was a twin pullout under one of the bunk beds but was useless due to the fact that there is no room for any person to leave either set of bunks, top or bottom, with the bed pulled out unless you wanted that person trampled! It wasn’t an issue for us since there is a sleeper sofa in the living room, but if you are expecting to have use of that bed and need all the bunks as well, it just isn’t possible.

The property was fantastic! Kathy is a wonderful property manager that always responds within 15 minutes. The house was less than a 3 minute walk to the beach, less than 1 minute walk to the pool, and completely gated. I love how dog friendly the community was. This property is well managed. I am excited to book more properties in the Beach Retreat Community for the future!

In general, I’m quite pleased with this property, which felt very spacious and beach-themed. My caveats are that it’s clear the time has come for an overhaul in some areas. There are a few pieces of wall art/fixtures that are beginning to strip and pull away from the wall. There was one window blind with a missing section. If this had been all, these would amount to incredibly minor complaints.
The real problem comes down to the kitchen. The disposal unit in the sink had a bad leak that required me to place a tea pitcher under it to collect all the water and detritus, then dump it in a bathtub daily, so it wouldn’t spill out all over the kitchen floor. A call was put in to the manager to have it repaired, but this was never followed up upon. Also, the stove is atrocious, with a top and bottom oven, one of which cooks at too low of a temp, the other of which cooks at too high of one. When paired with the beaten up cookware that was provided, we ruined both pancakes and omelettes and had a devil of a time getting anything to cook evenly in the oven. Fix the sink, update the cookware, and put in a whole new oven and you’d have a five-star property (the beach is luscious and anything you need is within a fifteen-minute radius). As it is, prepare for the kitchen to put a serious twist in your ability to fully relax and enjoy your vacation.

Great location but the house sucked! Had to bleach the towels before we could take a shower. Some friends came over with a little dog and they we’re sending e-mail. Rented a golf cart and they were sending emails . I would NEVER stay there again . And would NOT recommend it to nobody

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was just as described. Loved the location and quiet neighborhood. The pool area was almost always empty! We’ll definitely keep this home in mind for our future vacations.

Sea-La-Vie is a fully self-contained 3bedroom cottage nestled in the back of Cottage Retreat. The accommodations were great with a well-stocked kitchen, great layout in the unit with plenty of space for my family of 5. The cottage is just steps away from the private beach entrance with beach service provided. The pool was heated and clean, plenty of lounge chairs. Great location near to shopping and restaurants, some within walking distance. We will definitely be returning to Cottage Retreat!

The cottage was very nice and quiet. We had 5 adults, 1 infant and pets with plenty of room. The dogs were not a fan of the stairs and my knees were not a fan either. LOL!
My daughter slept in the bunkbed upstairs and said it was very uncomfortable. My only other complaints were the oven not working properly and the community pool always had a lot of grass and dirt that was not cleaned up by the pumps.
The host was very informative and helpful. I happen to leave a very important toiletry bag at the cottage after we departed and she retrieved it and mailed it out to me with no hesitation. I was truly thankful for her prompt response to my request.
Overall it's a very nice community close to the beach and several very good restaurants, stores, etc...

Very relaxing stay; just what I needed
We really enjoyed our time at Sea-La-Vie Cottage. We had very few issues and the property manager was able to resolve issues that came up.
Bit of advice: There is a laminated sheet with rules for the condo property association; read them. We didn't read them and it turns out you cannot bring your own grill to the property. There is a grill near the pool that you are allowed to use. We had not seen the restriction and found out a few days into the stay. Save yourself the space, don't bring a grill.
Initially we could not join the wifi but a reboot of the router fixed the issue. It seemed every few days we'd encounter this issue again but each time the reboot fixed it.
The downstairs TV had no signal when we arrived but rebooting the cable box also fixed the issue.
I messaged the property manager a few times when we arrived and got a response within 24 hours. I called one morning and spoke with her directly. She was very helpful and offered additional assistance if needed.
The upstairs master bed was more comfortable than most vacation rental beds. I have severe neck and back problems and I normally experience great pain while sleeping in these beds. I had none of the issues that I normally have. My husband complained a little which is unusual for him. But ultimately I think his problems were minimal and mild.
You cannot put up a tent at the beach in the "Beach Retreat" area. But you can put up a tent just to the right of the Beach Retreat area of the beach. You cannot leave tents up overnight so be sure to take them down f you do use one.
We enjoyed the beach but as a storm approached the beach itself was plagued with algae. We spent more time at the pool once the algae started taking over the waterfront. You can sign up for text alerts for the beach conditions from 30a.com. That is helpful to alert you of the beach conditions each day.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to a family wanting to relax together.
Just a warning, the photos are a bit misleading regarding the front yard, driveway photo. You have only the depth and width of two parking spaces (which fit our truck and a smaller SUV just fine). There is no back yard, all exterior photos are taken of the front of the house just at different angles.

Family Vacation
Excellent clean property! We loved our stay in this beautiful home on Cottage Row just steps to Miramar Beach. Kathy was amazing at communicating prior to arrival to ensure we made it safely and didn't need anything during our stay. This is our 16th year coming to Miramar and hands down one of the best homes we've stayed in. We will definitely stay here again in the future! Thank you again, Kathy, for making our annual extended family vacation one to remember!

Wonderful vacation home!
We had an absolute blast staying in Kathy’s cottage. The location is perfect, a few minutes walk to the beach, yet provides you with privacy and quiet as well. The pool and hot tub were wonderful as well. Our kids enjoyed hitting the beach and then jumping in the pool on the way back. The cottage itself is beautiful and comfortable, we would definitely stay here again!

Quiet and wonderful retreat!
My husband and I brought our two boys 10 & 12 and also my father.
My husband and I enjoyed the master bedroom with a jet tub & private balcony.
Our boys loved the bunk beds and my father loved the downstairs suite.
The owner was very responsive and friendly!
The unit was so private and quiet at the end of the road know a dead end and a quick walk to the beach! We would definitely come back!
