Peaceful Hillside Refuge to Enjoy Aurora
About this cottage rental
Private and peaceful, this cozy cabin is located in boreal forest at the end of a private road close to Fairbanks. You will enjoy exclusive use of this retreat during your stay. The hooting of a great horned owl on the mountain behind the house is only rarely disturbed by the distant moan of the locomotive winding through the valley below. The property that this cabin and the main house sits on feels remote even though it is less than 15 minutes from shopping and Fairbanks International Airport.

We wanted to be out of the city. This little cabin was perfect! It’s also a bed and breakfast so the cabin is stocked with all kinds of food including snacks and soups. The quail eggs were the best! The decor as in furs and antlers and paintings are all from local artists and hunters and are available for purchase. Everything was beautiful comfy and warm.

Dan was so easy to work with; loved the little house, perfect for a 1 or 2-night stay (we only could work in a 1-overnighter); clean, easy to access, enjoyed our stay very much; highly recommend!

Yes, that’s what you will hear…nothing and it’s great. Very tidy cabin and great breakfast fixings for you to create your own breakfast. Right down the road and conveniently located near Running Reindeer Ranch. Thank you Clarity &Dan for your hospitality.

This has been a perfect place to stay. An Alaskan experience near the top of a mountain surrounded by trees and a beautiful sky. Great cozy cabin with everything we would need. The hosts were fantastic. Freshly laid eggs for breakfast from the owners little poultry farm next door. We hope to come back sometime!

Perfect little cabin for couples getaway. Very comfortable, in summer bring a sleep mask, but overall totally enjoyed to get away from the city!

We arrived at the cabin and found it just as described. It had everything we needed. We were a little concerned as while we were unloading, the mosquitoes were swarming, but that was the only time they were bad. I sat on the deck the next morning drinking coffee and did not see a mosquito. There were a few around in the evening but they were not bad.
There were fresh eggs and bread and milk in the refrigerator and fresh fruit on the table. It was great for breakfast each morning.
The cabin was a very great place for us as we explored the Fairbanks area. We were pleasantly surprised.
The hosts answered our questions and were a good source of information. Very hospitable but only when we needed them, not imposing.
If we make it back to Fairbanks we will check to see if the cabin is available again.

This cabin was everything and more than i wanted out of it! I wanted something close to town, but not close to people and this spot was perfect! I also truly appreciate having so many utensils, linens, food, and shower supplies already waiting for us in the cabin when we got there. Both me and my buddy absolutely adored this lil tiny paradise, and will definitely stay here again if i come back!

We visited Fairbanks in mid-April to see the Aurora Borealis and the Denali National Park, and wanted a rustic cabin just outside of town that gave us dark night skies and the tranquility of the wilderness. This cozy, well-kept property met our hopes perfectly.
Dan and his family were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, giving us travel tips and helping us when our car became stuck in the snow. The cabin was well-equipped with all of the necessary conveniences, including a well-stocked kitchen (lots of fresh eggs from their flock) we used daily. Although the temperatures fell below 10 degrees at night, ample blankets and an oil stove kept us comfortable. Wi-fi reception was very good, as was the hot shower.
It was difficult to leave after such a peaceful, relaxing time. We will be recommending this property to all of our friends and family, and will definitely be staying here the next time we are in Fairbanks.

The place is awesome, beautiful view and a very comfortable getaway. That being said I would be remiss if I didn't mention a few things. Dan, the property owner is an incredibly nice man and a hard working pilot, but for our stay he lost track of time and did not have it ready for our arrival, which at that moment was a bummer, but he scrambled and got everything done ASAP and made up for the inconvenience in a few unique ways. The only other mildly negative part of this stay for us was that the TV is an older dumb flat screen and it has a google device on it, but there is no remote for the google device so if you want to watch anything other than the generous collection of DVDs the only choice, at least in our case, is to cast to the google device with your phone. All that being said we will absolutely be staying at this beautiful hillside retreat again in the future. We loved the place, the bed was comfortable, the cabin was warm and cozy and we loved the decor. The decor made the place feel instantly homey in that uniquely Alaskan way. This place is perfectly located just far enough from *civilization * to feel like you are truely "out there" and yet the 15-20 minute drive to acquire modern conveniences seemingly flew by with the beautiful views from the mountainous backroads. From the deck one can see stunning sunsets through the idilic forested hillside and they have a suet birdfeeder located within plain view of the window providing views of cheery avian meals.

Loved the remote feel, but that it was only 10min from town. Also, the homestead/cabin feel with farm fresh eggs and other items for breakfast along with a well- equipped kitchen for personal cooking. Games, books, movies, and a fully functional bathroom. Very cozy, welcoming, and extremely clean!

The cleanness, location, Dan the owner cares about his guests, the property is comfortable for TWO and that in itself is a 5 stars. IF you are an outdoor you'll find things to do around Fairbanks have your mosquitos spray and face net ready THEY ARE RELENTLESS ...its hard to fill 7 days in Fairbanks, good think we can cook caz for the exception of the PUMP HOUSE which's booked for weeks in advance and few THAI restaurants there is nothing else..unless you want fast food.

Peaceful!
The cabin was just as described and exactly what we were looking for. Clean, comfortable, hot water. Easy communication with Dan. Sadie the dog visited us a few times! Breakfast items included which was a nice bonus! And we saw a mama moose and her baby just right outside the cabin. We would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.

Great secluded property
What a great place! Within minutes of Fairbanks, it feels like you are a million miles from anywhere. This quiet cabin is in a beautiful area and just right for a getaway. The supplies were well thought out and the hosts very accommodating. Thank you for a great stay and I hope to come back again when I can stay longer.

We booked this cabin at the last minute with limited availability. We were pleasantly surprised as the pictures do not do it justice. We were given fresh chicken and quail eggs from the Ranch so had a great breakfast. Lovely touch. Forget hotels come here and have an authentic cabin experience

This was everything I was looking for in a short stay away from the real world. Out of town, but not too far. The owners live down the road but not too close. It was quiet and peaceful. On the grid with modern amenities but still the feel of being in the wild.
I met the owner Dan on my last night when our paths crossed. He was very friendly and accommodating.
Can't say enough about this place. I am happy to give this my highest recommendation. I will be back.

A remote feel yet only a short distance to Fairbanks. The cabin is simple but everything you needed. I didn’t quite understand in the listing’s amenities that breakfast was included. But it was so nice to come in to find a little milk in the fridge with fresh eggs, cereal, a good supply of coffee and more. We are outdoor people and really enjoyed to sit out on the deck. Didn’t catch any wildlife but were very blessed with the stay. The bed was comfortable. The spring thaw made the dirt road and driveway a bit rough in spots but even with a smaller car we made it thru just fine. Nice stay.
