Truman Annex: SHABBY CHICKEN - come stay with the large & proud bird in town!! Large front yard and porch to watch Key West pass by. Beautiful, sunny and spacious living areas with private, large landscaped backyard with two dining areas. First Floor. See what's so special about the Shabby Chicken...it's not too shabby after all. POOL within 1 minute walk. Our fantastic cleaner has been with us for 12 years. We are following CDC guidelines for cleaning/disinfectants. Read our reviews, historically we always been known to have a spotless, clean place. Stay with us! 111!! 5-STAR rating and the best floor plan around. This exceptional, over-sized floor plan with 2 bedrooms on OPPOSITE sides of condo, large double vanity bath, full-size kitchen is only offered in a couple of units in the Truman Annex Shipyard. Large deck along with a outdoor patio/dining area. It feels more like a home than a condo. Relax at the Truman Annex Shipyard POOL - which is a minute walk from the condo. SHABBY CHICKEN BEDROOMS & IDEAL FLOOR PLAN (Ground Floor)... The Shabby Chicken has 2 very spacious bedrooms, both with KING beds (or one bedroom can be converted into two twin beds) offering the privacy of each bedroom located on OPPOSITE sides of condo. Each bedroom has ample room to store clothes. Currently the living room and only the guest room has a TV. Large bathroom with double sink vanity, walk-in shower. Two sets of French doors in the centrally located living room and window in the full-size kitchen provide sunlight and a spacious feeling not found in other units. Our outdoor space is 2-3 times the size of other condos. LIVING AREA & KITCHEN... The central living area with new large, leather sectional couch with a full size kitchen provides a great floor plan for 2-4 people. The kitchen is equipped with all new appliances, countertop, modern backsplash and finishes. There is counter-top seating and a large dining table with beautiful lighting and seating for four or more that is stylish and functional. Washer and dryer! OUTDOORS... Two sets of French doors lead to the HUGE, MULTI-SPACE OUTDOORS. LUSH landscaping and privacy. Enjoy morning coffee or an intimate dinner at the comfortable dining table on the large, covered, private deck. Step down to the herringbone brick patio that is able to accommodate a small party to dine alfresco. Or take a relaxing nap or read a book on the lounger under the palm (we're not kidding!). POOL... Less than a one minute walk to the pool AMENITIES... This ground floor condo is very clean, and has well-appointed bedrooms which have been completely updated with beautiful linens, art work and comfortable beds. A new washer/dryer are located within the unit for your convenience. The fully equipped kitchen with all new appliances, pots & pans, towels & linens and central air conditioning provide all the amenities you want for long- and short-term stays. You'll also enjoy a 32' flat screen TV in the living room with an Italian-made large, leather sectional. Secure wireless Wi-Fi and and Bluetooth speaker for your device to connect to for music. Our condo is outfitted with beach towels, beach chairs, a cooler, etc. We also have designated on-site parking, although it's likely you will not need (or want) to get in your car while you're here. Washer and Dryer WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL... The Shabby Chicken (for it's shabby chic design) has interesting design elements, such as vintage clocks, modern geometric patterns, original artwork from Cuba and local artists, wood carvings from the Philippines and India, along with beautiful tapestries. The place feels very luxurious, contemporary, and relaxing. PROXIMITY TO PLACES... The Shabby Chicken is within easy walking and biking distance to everything Old Town Key West has to offer, including Fort Zachary Beach and a one minute walk to the Truman Annex pool. Walk down to the Truman Annex waterfront to take in a special and low-key sunset for which only the locals know about. Walk or bike through the gorgeous Truman Annex over to happening Mallory Square for shops, museums, and special events. The Shabby Chicken was very nice. The location is super. We liked outdoor space. The owners need to update the front door access. The key is in a lock box that is difficult to open. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The Shabby Chicken was right in the heart of KW and allowed us to walk everywhere we desired to go. The parking spot was a nice bonus. The unit, itself, was as described and clean. Marie was great to work with.

Wonderful stay! The location cannot be beat. The condo had everything we needed. We have visited Key West multiple times staying in the Truman Annex, and this is a favorite. We really liked being on the first floor but only wish the early morning weather would have cooperated to allow us to enjoy the back patio for morning coffee, as it is a very nice area. Marie worked with us on the arrival time and departure. We could not have asked for more. We look forward to visiting again and hope the Shabby Chicken is available.

We really enjoyed our stay. Truman Annex is right in the heart of Key West, was able to walk to everything. Comfortable home with all the extras, beach towels & chairs, cooler. The pool was cool which felt great on the hot days. Would stay here again.

Great place to stay! Our family of 5 (with 2 adult children and a 10 year old) had the perfect amount of space to spend the week. The condo was clean and nicely prepared for us, even with an air mattress for our 5th person. The location was AMAZING. We walked everywhere we needed to (except Higgs Beach because it was 1000 degrees but that was technically walkable too). Mallory Square and that area of town was a quick 10 minute walk through the gated community. We rented a car but it sat unused almost the whole week- we know for next time that a car is not necessary. The pool was a quick walk and temp controlled (“chilled” for our hot July visit). Highly recommend this rental!

Shabby chicken was perfect in so many ways. Perfect location (5-10 minute walk to everything), perfect neighborhood (Truman annex), perfect size for our family of 4. Property had everything we needed, beach chairs, beach towels, beach cooler, washer and dryer, large deck and backyard space. This property is the best of what Key West has to offer.

The Shabby Chicken was even better than we had anticipated! The space was bigger than expected, clean, and had a great layout. We walked all over the island and the Shabby Chicken was a perfect location for our home base. I hope to stay here again the next time we make it to the Keys.

Location was great, walkable to restaurants, shopping & action on Duval street. It’s located in a safe & quiet area. Condo was clean and well stocked. Nice patio out back. The condo was perfect for our stay. It is beautifully updated and decorated. There is a back yard that has a deck and patio area and has beautiful tropical plantings. The condo is located in a very nice complex with a nice pool area. It is close to many restaurants and activities. Overall we really enjoyed our stay! I highly recommend this condo!

This condo was excellent -clean and very comfortable. It was in a quite neighborhood but so close to all the action. We did not have a car for the week only bikes and we were minutes from Duval Street, waterfront restaurants and the beach at Fort Zachary State Park. The hosts were excellent and very responsive. We loved our stay at the Shabby Chicken! It was the perfect location, being a short walk away from the water/sunsets and also to all the action on Duval Street. The condo had everything we needed, and we really enjoyed the back patio. The Truman Annex was a really nice complex for pool time and walks through the neighborhood. The owner Marie couldn't have been any better as a host. She shared suggestions on what to do in Key West and offered advice throughout our stay. We hope to be back soon!

Shabby Chicken was a delight and—despite the name—there is nothing shabby about it. It is located in a beautiful community with easy walking to the main attractions. The beds were comfortable. Many amenities were provided so we didn't have to buy them - things like dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, toilet paper, etc. All of us took advantage of the pool which we walked to through the beautifully landscaped property.
Marie responded promptly to our questions and was very accommodating, making our stay worry-free.
If I ever return to Key West, I would definitely stay here again.

I traveled with my spouse and adult daughter and this place was perfect; 2 bedrooms with King beds.
The location is perfect, close to Duvall St., but far enough away that it's quiet. It's also close to Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park which has the best beach in Key West.
We rent bikes and avoid car parking - everything is close by.
There are a lot of extras in this place that make it great. We found the fold-up chairs really handy to take to the beach.
The condo was super clean and quiet (we had nice upstairs neighbors - I realize that can't be guaranteed).
Marie (the owner) was very easy to communicate with and the lock box made it easy to get the keys initially.
My daughter is vegan and we worried a little about restaurants, but found several that had good options for her and for us as well.
I can think of nothing negative to say!

Good location. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen appliances are newish and all work well. Small layout, unable to open some of the cabinets all of the way. The owner did let us check-in early since there was no one staying the day before and it was greatly appreciated! The washer/dryer in the unit is not what is pictured. With the setup now you can only open up the dryer a few inches to get your stuff out. The grill is missing the starter and the side tables are missing. There is no fire stick to start the grille. Constant smell coming from the bathroom, probably a building issue, but should be noted.

Wonderful Stay
We had a wonderful time at this property. The owners were very responsive to questions prior to and during our stay. Very accommodating and welcoming. You can not beat the location of the condo. Close enough to Duval and also to the beaches at the State Park. This was our first time on vrbo and these owners made it all very easy. Neighborhood pool was a nice place to hang out during the hot days and was close to the house. Would definitely stay here again!

Great quiet spot within walking distance to pretty much anything
We had a great time staying here. While some pieces of the property seem a bit worse for wear, overall it was lovely and just what we needed. We didn't drive at all during our stay and still had access to the boating options and restaurants anyone could possibly want.

The rental was exactly as described, and within walking distance of just about anything you would want to see. The Truman Annex itself is simply beautiful and serene. The pool was rarely even half full which made it nice for me to go down in the afternoon for a while also. We had rented bikes and used those for a few days for areas farther away. We had arrived about 10 min before check in on day one and the housekeeper wasn’t ready for us so we did leave and come back about 1/2 hour later. It gave us time to walk around the annex and she was very kind about it. She didn’t make us leave. Hope we didn’t scare her too badly when we walked in! 🤦♀️😊
