About this house rental
Centrally located on Mount Desert Island, the house is conveniently located, less than 4 miles to main entrance to Acadia National Park and a few miles more to downtown Bar Harbor. Also convenient to other hiking, biking, and water activities on the quiet side of the island. We do not require a Saturday to Saturday rental. If you have ever tried to arrive or leave the island on a Saturday, you know there is a lot of traffic because everyone else is coming and going during that day. We give a discounted rate for weekly or monthly rentals and we will add a mid month cleaning at no additional charge for monthly rentals. You are also dealing directly with the owner, not an agent. Sorry we no longer allow pets. We do not accept payment by check of any kind. The house has a large kitchen, dining room, living room, and 1/2 bath downstairs with deck and outdoor table. Upstairs is a large master bedroom suite (queen bed) with full bath with shower and separate tub. The suite has an attached bonus room over the garage furnished with a full-sized futon and desk. There are 2 other bedrooms on the other side of the house with another full bath/shower. One of those bedrooms has a queen-sized platform bed, the other has two twin beds. There is a flatscreen TV in each bedroom. The washer and dryer are located upstairs. The house is located on a private quiet road and is surrounded by trees. Relax outside on the front porch or on the back deck. NEW: CLEANING PROTOCOLS IN PLACE INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE EMPTY DAY BETWEEN BOOKINGS. Official government issued PHOTO ID SHOWING RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS REQUIRED to complete the booking.

The home was very comfortable and suited our 6 person stay perfectly. The kitchen was well equipped as were the rest of needed items, like towels, etc. There was a nice size dining table that fit our group and there was a feeling of spaciousness. If we were to come back to Bar Harbor we’d love to stay again. Also Jo was a responsive host and communicator. This makes such a difference to us travelers.

While we saw no foxes during our stay, it was a heavenly place for us. Clean, roomy, well appointed with plenty of extras in the kitchen, and the owner was very responsive when we had a couple of questions. We especially appreciated the location. We like to hike the island and access to all parts of Mount Desert was easy from Fox Haven. We hope to visit again.

The size of the house with multiple bathrooms was perfect for 5 grandmas. The property was wonderful with trees and plants and an awesome back deck. Property was exactly like the pictures. Hosts were responsive and very nice. We highly recommend this property.

The house is on a wooded lot, very private and a total escape - yet convenient to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. It is beautiful and provided more than enough room for our family of four. The beds are comfortable and the living room is a great space. I wish we had stayed longer!

The house was exactly as described, and fit our needs perfectly. The kitchen was well stocked, and the house was very comfortable. Our host Jo was very responsive to our questions. The location was great for visiting Acadia and Bar Harbor. Would definitely book this house again!

We felt comfortable from the minute that we drove into the driveway. The house was a spacious and clean home away from home. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of seating for 6 of us, and more. Jo was an excellent host! She was very accommodating. I messaged her while we were driving up and ,since we were making great time without traffic, I asked if it would be possible to access the house before 4 pm check in time. She replied promptly and noted that the house had been cleaned the day before and it was ready for us whenever we arrived. She provided clear instructions for entry and the house rules.

We had an absolutely perfect stay at Jo's lovely, quiet property!! The location is only a few minutes from Bar Harbor and the Hull's Cove entrance to Acadia National Park, and very close to a gas station, as well as every type of store and restaurant. This immaculate property is just beautiful, with every possible amenity. Seamless check-in and check-out procedures. Good communication with the owner. We would definitely book this outstanding property again!!

Location was perfect for exploring Acadia NP, Bar Harbor and Mt. Desert Island. House was big and we were comfortable. Beds were comfortable. A bit out dated in the kitchen but we were still able to cook our meals.

Spacious and comfortable
Joe’s place is open and spacious. It houses my family of 5 comfortably. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and about 15 minute drive away from major attractions and the main grocery store. We will have no issue to book it again in the future.
One suggestion: add a large pot in the kitchen. Maine’s lobsters are too big.

Close to Nature
This property was so beautiful to wake up to each morning! Lush grounds and surrounded by a forest of trees. Very clean and secure home in a quiet neighborhood. We hiked all day then enjoyed the outside seating in the cool of the evening.

Centrally located, everything we needed
The home is centrally located...close to both the town of Bar Harbor and the National Park. The host was quick to reply and answered all of our questions. Check in was very simple. The house had everything we needed for our stay: plenty of cooking utensils, pots and pans, comfortable beds, games and puzzles, and a great, quiet natural setting. It was also very clean. Overall, great experience!
