The room was amazing
The staff needed to be more knowledgeable.
Our dinner was a disappointment, waited a long time and steaks were VERY tough!!

The in room jetted tub was fantastic! Staff was kind. Justin? I believe was very helpful on the phone. Location was beautiful. Took a walk by the st croix in the morning and the weather was lovely. The gas fireplace looked nice, bed was comfortable.
Breakfast looked lovely but really would have loved more vegan options. I couldn’t even have cereal because there was no non-dairy milk. Room was dated.

Loved the sausage! Egg soufflé was not great. No seasonings provided. Coffee was not hot and ran out early. Limited staff to check on things.
Shower and hot tub. Brown water full of filament.

The location was beautiful! We stayed for the flood run, and the local shops were awesome! If you get a chance, check out Selma's Ice Cream - it was delicious!
The whirlpool tub was the reason I booked the room. Upon turning on the water (not even the jets) the entire tub was covered in black dirt and the walls of the tub were dirty. We had to fill and drain the tub three times for it to be clean enough to use.

Breakfast was great. The room was wonderful, we loved the king size bed and the Jacuzzi. The wine bar was also great!
We had dinner at the Inn restaurant. The steak was a little bit dry and the walleye cakes were not very impressive. I feel that for the price we paid it didn’t really meet that level of excellence.
It was also disappointing to be told upon check out that we were being charged for the waterbottles that were in our room that we drank. Waterbottles are usually free at most other hotels that we would’ve paid less for. We were also not informed upon check-in about this.

Dusty, dirty room and furnishings were outdated from the 1970's. Tacky and mismatched garage sale items. Old carpeting and uneven flooring throughout the entire property. Poor continental breakfast. Outdoor dinning had over abundance of flies 10 on our table at once and a visibly dirty wine glass served to my husband on our 2nd wedding anniversary. 😕

Food was good!
Needs massive updates, over priced.

The place was perfect! Staff was amazing, especially Taylor :)
Not a thing.

Owner was informed of items that needed attention in our room and has followed up directly with us showing that the repairs had been made.
The room was is disrepair. We were expecting a boutique experience and got a rundown bed and “breakfast” (think quality inn continental breakfast minus half the options) instead. Very disappointed with our stay.
*Update* owner has since reached out to me directly and has provided adequate compensation to us due to our experience.

Breakfast was good however we were told it was a buffet and it was nothing more than expanded continental breakfast but good nonetheless.
More modern decor and definitely newer TVs than 40 year old tube type models

It was a very nice place, the history was wonderful and the hot tub in the room was great. Staff was so friendly and helpful.

I love the quaint Inn feeling. Love that it’s in a quiet town.
our room was a little dirty with dead bugs and bees on the floor.

Breakfast was great. Also enjoyed the wine tasting and meal Friday night.

The dinning area for breakfast.
The air conditioner did not work. Room was small bed was not comfortable, no air circulating due to fan and air not working. No elevator spiral stair to climb not handicap friendly at all. Tip jars and envelopes everywhere.

The location was excellent, and the aged kitschiness was silly and fun. The dinner in their "fine" restaurant was delicious, and Lynn (our server) was awesome! Truly enjoyed her candor and honesty! She was a blast!
The place is RUN DOWN. It's old, the bed is too soft, the people above us were loud and obnoxious until late at night. There were no instructions on how to use the 40+ year old jacuzzi, when meant staff had to come help us get it working. A simple instruction sheet would have made this easier.

It was exactly what we were looking for. Plan to go again.
Nothing.

The building was nostalgic, like stepping back in time. Staff was pleasant. Breakfast was more than we expected for continental breakfast. Overall experience was very nice. Would definitely stay again.

The staff service from the front desk to the restaurant to the housecleaning department was absolutely amazing! Very friendly, attentive and efficient.
The dinner in the restaurant was delicious.
The incredible customer service made up for the bugs in our room that we dealt with, but I would've graded our stay higher if not for the bugs.
Boxelder bugs were entering through the old window in our room and I noticed the window was taped around the edges but was drying up from the sun and staring to peel off which provided the bugs to get through. There were numerous dead bugs in the window sill. There were live bugs in the room as well. The window desperately needs to be replaced.
The room was very small but quaint.

The location was phenomenal and conveniently located to many shops and nature views. The room was clean with a good layout and gorgeous amenities. The experience was far superior to that of a hotel or many other locations nearby.
The breakfast was less than impressive. The meal was served beautifully and the atmosphere was pleasant, however the meal itself had several areas that could be improved. There was no alternative beverage options to coffee and water and would have preferred a juice option. The sausage was saturated in oil which was unpleasant. I strongly suggest a non-dairy option for cereals if available. Overall, for a free/included meal it was sufficient. However, it was not comparable to the whole experience at Afton.

The spa tub and toilet were both dirty. Stains on the bed spread. The doors are not square to the frames so they don’t insulate sound at all. It’s like staying at a quaint but scatterbrained grandparents’ house.

Room/Inn is very quaint, lovely, breakfast was fabulous, great location,
Not your fault, but the weather was HOT! Glad we could cool off by the water.

Staff was helpful, food was good and the bed was comfortable.
Shower had very little water coming out and could use some updating. The towels were not good and it was obvious that they were old. An investment in new towels would do wonders.

I liked the area and the people were nice
Tried to hot tub. No hot water. Beds were very loud and squeaky. Walls or adjoining room door was very thin. The people in the next room were having sex and banging and screaming the whole night.

Staff was friendly Hotel was quiet and in good location close to shops and dining. Food in fine dining restaurant was good.
Garbage was left on the corner post of our bed. Historic building but looks like it was updated in the 70s?. Crack on the bathroom wall. Shower base sagged when I stepped on it. Cracks and chips in the floor tiles, sink and toilet.

Good
Don't put $3 water in a hotel where we dropped $500 in 2 two days and charge for it..
