location
only one bathroom on the floor for all the guest on same floor

The fact that even though check in was for 2pm , we arrived early and was immediately given our room.

It wad close to attractions.
Hotel was dirty. The shared bathrooms never had adequate supplies and were dirty. The rooms had bugs and didn't provide hand soap. The bathrooms should at least have hand sanitizer in them.

its cheap
snobby folks
It is 2023, and you don't own the city
I would say that gentrification has affected these peoples brains and it's not my fault
neighbors are terrible, kids staying in hotels, and being kids
The place itself is nice, but the staff are not hospitality folks its pretty with cleanliness in the rest rooms
Ernesto was good, but there are some that are ill equipped to understand how to treat people says a bartender of 17 years

The price was ok and the staff were quite nice and helpful. We were not given rooms that were close together due to the unavailability at the time of check in but were told that we could move the rooms in the evening. We chose not to.
The hallways always reeked of weed smell 24hrs a day. The cleanliness was quite sub-par: found several small cockroaches and small bugs. One of our rooms also had remnants of dog fur in it, probably from a previous tenant. The building also had regular renting tenants which didn't inspire much confidence insecurity, also at the bottom of the building were several bars and weed shop, but wasn't a problem for our stay. Overall decent stay for the price.

the staff were very nice, it’s very close to a CVS and Trader Joe’s which helps to cut on costs of travel and food especially in SF.
the elevator was filled with fruit flies and smelled like urine, the room was filled with cockroaches, even the shower. People definitely live there and they are very loud at night.

It was kitty-korner to Trader Joe's, on a Cable Car line, and close to Chinatown.
Parking is 2hrs at a time til 9p and Sundays. So IF you can find a space it can be a scarey walk to the hotel. Hand soap is not provided nor are hand towels & wash cloths. There is a ceiling fan but no heater. The neighborhood bar shares a common wall and is loud til 2am. The building is old so not all rooms have bathrooms but has cockroaches.

Nice location in Lower Nob Hill, right across from Trader Joe's, on top of the the CA street cable car (fare 8 $), two blocks to bus line downtown and Van Ness corridor, nice cafes and eateries within walking distance, the more pedestrian inclined could walk to Union square (about 10 blocks), the room was vinyl floored, clean enough, with a sink, fridge and microwave, no bugs in my room like other reviews suggested
A real San Francisco experience, all its social problems in a nutshell, felt like I was the only tourist in the hotel, all others seem to live there permanently, due to SF spending millions to house the homeless in hotels. A cannabis shop in the building was apparently patronized by staff and residents on a regular basis, the building reeked of pot throughout, the receptionist huddled on the steps smoking a joint when I arrived, I first took him for a homeless camping out infront of the hotel. And the noise, there is a bar - the Wreck room - in the building as well, the traffic, the street car, like many other reviews stated, you better be a sound sleeper having a room facing the street, luckily mine was to the courtyard, but nevertheless some thumping heat pipe in the wall kept me up at night as well. Lived in the city for years, so the social troubles did not face me that much, the unaware tourist form lets say Sweden might feel unsafe in such an environment. Beckons the questions why staying there in the first place: for San Francisco it was cheap, cheap, cheap

Price was great and the location was nice, only a block or two from a trolly car station
Room was kinda gross and smelled musty. Definitely wast cleaned well. Windows didn’t have screens so we had to make sure all the windows were shut and locked and I still didn’t feel super safe but nothing happened during our stay.

I didn't expect much from a room with a shared bathroom but I have stayed in others before and this has been the worst so far. We arrived late and when we entered the window blind could not be lowered, we had to fix it ourselves since clearly no one could help us at the time, and from outside the neighbors of the building could see us. The floor felt very dirty, it even had cockroaches. I will never stay here again

great price for the area
there was a homeless person using the shower. The bed was one of the hardest and least comfortable I’ve slept on

I really liked the location, the price was very fair for that location. The workers were friendly enough. The shared bathroom was surprisingly clean. The room was decent considering the bugs, this hotel is definitely more for a place to sleep than to enjoy the hotel which is fair and reflective in the price.
There were 5 dead cockroaches in the room and 2 live ones that I saw plus multiple baby ones in the room's standing shower so I was little weary when I ate or slept that I'd come across one but I think the good outweighs the bad overall in my opinion. I saw them more than I experienced them anyways, if that makes sense. Parking sucks, but that's SF in general.
