The location is really great, and so is the pool areaThe unit (#251) itself needed some attention: the bedroom blind was broken, the bed was like sleeping on a slab of concrete, the bedding was in poor taste, the toilet wouldn't stop running unless you jiggled the handle, bulbs were out, the dishes were old and in poor condition, and the couch was faded and worn.Also, if you want privacy, this is not the place

We stayed at the Silver Sands on several occasions. We stayed in this room a few times. This time we noticed that it definitely needs some updating. Need some TLC around it. Ceiling fan in living area. Light switch is not working. Plus it is damaged. Some Slants in windows going outdoor missing and will not close without pulling it shut. Bottom line it just needs to be given a critical eye look. Also, in the past, we have found the lounge chairs to be very good. This time most of them at the beach area were broken or definitely needed the rigging replaced. Also, the provision for umbrellas was nonexistent or damaged. This is very helpful for many of us who fly in and have no way to bring those things with us.

We loved the view from our unit. There were always beach chairs available and lots of space on the beach. The marine life is wonderful to experience! It's great for families and no crossing streets to go to the pool or beach. Staff and guests were friendly. A few tweaks to the room, (updated, unsoiled sofa, drain plug that works for tub, dish drainer, kitchen sink stopper and baking pan), would improve the unit stay. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would like to return in the future with our extended family.

Our room was not ready even after confirming it would be ready. Dishes were left dirty in the dishwasher, sand on the floors and the shower leaks on the bathroom floor. Pool and beach were great!

The condo was very dirty, dusty and dated. We had to cover the sofa throw pillows and chair with sheets. We had to wash all the dishes, silverware and cups before we can use them. We also had to wash the whole silverware drawer, the toaster and toaster oven. Margarette from the office was very accommodating and she herself dusted the Livingroom and sent someone to vacuum. We enjoyed the beach and the pool and would go there again but not unit 251

The location of this condo cannot be beat for beach lovers. You are just steps away from the gulf and the beach is very private. The condo is very family-friendly with a nice pool, grills, mini golf and beach gear. The rooms are nicely maintained and the staff were helpful.

Great access to a very quiet part of the beach. It is mainly residential north of the resort so there are very few people. Great for families with the pool, shuffleboard and mini golf. The unit is a bit older but has everything you need for vacation.

We recently spent 4 nights at Silver Sands Gulf Beach Resort on Longboat Key, staying in Unit 251. Overall we had a great trip and enjoyed the resort very much. The location is wonderful and Unit 251 has a view of the pool and the beach. It is a very short walk from the condo out to the beach. While we brought our own beach chairs and cabana, the resort does provide lounge chairs and umbrellas. The website and reservation system worked well and onsite check in was easy. We had the opportunity to interact with both Martha and Emilie at the front desk and both were great.
We were there to go to the beach so we didn’t use the pool but there were many families with children and adults that used the pool. Two amenities that we did use were the Wi-Fi and the gas grills. We didn’t have any issues with the Wi-Fi and it allowed us to stay connected. Having the gas grills (2) was very nice as we didn’t want to eat out every night and grilled burgers one night instead.
Unit 251 could use some maintenance and improvements which I suggested to the front desk when we checked out. The resort is older and the units are individually owned so unfortunately the owners have to want to improve their rental unit. My suggestions to the front desk were:
• Needs to be repainted and some trim replacement
• Some plumbing fixtures (kitchen faucet and shower head) need repair or replacement
• Both ceiling fans should be replaced with ceiling hugger models to get the blades up closer to the ceiling. This also would solve that one of them you can’t change the fan speed and the wicker blades are harder to keep clean
• Wicker furniture, especially the headboard on the bed is higher maintenance and requires more thorough dusting to keep it clean. This was very obvious on the headboard that a deep cleaning is in order.
I hope the owners will invest in some upgrades as we would definitely like to r

The property and location were great. We loved the proximity to the beach, the wonderful pool and the view from our room. Also loved that AMI and St. Armands was only a short drive away. I was really disappointed that our room was not ready when we went to check in at 4:00. We have groceries that needed to get into the fridge. The cleaning staff were able to get the room ready in about 30 minutes, but this should have been done before we arrived at 4:00.

We enjoyed our stay. Our friends have been going there the last few years. This was our first and we will definitely return. Love the ease to going to the beach, having the chairs there and easy access to the umbrellas. Also nice pool. Very clean.

Silver Sands is a small quaint location. The condo has everything we needed. we loved how extremely clean everything is. Even the outside is manicured to perfection. The beach is just a few steps away with lounge chairs available. Sunsets are amazing either on the beach or from our second floor condo. Emily in the office is definitely an asset. She really knows her job and does it with her whole heart. We will definitely be referring this location to our friends and we will be back.
