Nestled in the residential Parioli-Salario district, (Gaetano's) Nino's house is located in the heart of Rome, just a few steps away from the tranquility of Villa Borghese, one of the largest landscaped gardens in Rome, and from Via Veneto, probably the most famous, elegant and trendy street in Rome. If you are coming to Rome, this should be your first choice. Everything about the stay was great. Location is just outside the busiest parts of the city which helps it remain peaceful. Everything you want is a nice walk or a short bus ride away.
The host Gaetano, is what makes the stay magical. Try all the food he recommends, especially the gelato! Plus he helped to arrange transport and made our stay especially pleasant.
In a busy city, this cozy rental is an oasis of relaxation. Highly encourage you to consider it.

We enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. Our host was very gracious and kind. It was a very secure apartment in a lovely part of Rome. It was about a 1/2 hour walk to the Spanish Steps and about a ten minute walk to the Borghese Gallery. Once we learned the bus schedules getting around was easy. In the immediate neighbourhood there are excellent restaurants and gelato, markets, etc. Nino was very informative and gave us lots of very good recommendations. The apartment was equipped well with everything you need.

A quiet home base to see Rome from
This was a great apartment and Nino was a wonderful host. The rental is not too far from many of the sites you will want to visit, but also far away from the hustle and bustle of the city center to get a sense of what day-to-day Rome life is like.
Nino was an attentive host with excellent recommendations. We added The Borghese to our itinerary based on his suggestion and we’re glad we did. His gelato recommendation was the best we had our entire time in Italy. He replied quickly to my texts if we had a question.
The unit is quiet and comfortable with in-room laundry, which was a real lifesaver, if say, all your luggage doesn’t arrive in Rome with you.
We found most of the sites we wanted to go to were up to a 30 - 45 minute walk, which was great for us and a way to see a ton of Rome. We probably walked about 10 miles a day.
If we had an early morning activity or were tired at the end of a long day, we took a taxi (€15-20) instead of walking. We did that three times, but the fair rental price of this unit allows for a few cab rides.
We had a wonderful visit in Rome and would stay here again.

Everything was perfect from start to finish. Could not ask for better!

Location is conveniently close to major tourist sites via bus/metro and even walking. Villa Borghese nearby is another plus. Neighborhood is charming and includes some amazing architecture. Apartment accommodations were as described and especially great for longer stays or for those who want to do some of their own cooking and laundry. Clean and in good condition with only potential drawback being the low ceiling in the bedroom loft (if you’re fairly tall, but not really an issue if you’re laying down, right?) The Landlord, “Nino”, is extremely kind and engaging. He speaks English well, gave us a tour of the neighborhood, provided his best recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants, and even played some ping pong with us! (at a local games venue). Great price, and we would have gladly paid more. We will definitely try to book again next time in Rome. Thanks Nino!

I rented this property for my daughter and son in law during a family vacation to Italy. They loved the property and location and is described accurately in listing. Nino, our host was awesome! He went above and beyond to make the trip perfect, always available for any questions or anything we needed during the stay. I highly recommend Nino and his property and would not hesitate booking for future travel to Rome.

Staying at Nino’s place was the ideal way for us to experience Rome. The apartment is in a quiet, very safe neighbourhood with little stores, restaurants and cafés all a block or two away; it is also a 15-minute walk to the Borghese Museum, which is very convenient. The apartment itself is on the first floor (second floor in American usage), and there is an elevator, so overall it’s good for anyone with limited mobility (there are about 7 steps up after you enter the outside door). Big windows that you can open, plenty of light, very clean. Mr. Piletti is very friendly and accommodating and was completely on top of anything we needed or asked, including arranging transportation to and from the airport, and he is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese in addition to Italian and English. We had a great stay there, and both of us would definitely stay there again, including my friend who used to live in Rome and knows it very well. 2 thumbs up!

Feeling at home in Rome
Perfect in every way. The apartment was charming, comfortable, and clean. The neighbourhood felt safe and quiet, away from the crowds of Rome, with a feel of home and community, but still with easy access to all the sites. Nino was always available and helpful. He went out of his way to stay in touch and to answer any question about the beautiful and fascinating city of Rome. Thank you, Nino!

What an exquisite experience!
This is our first visit to Rome and Nino made it feel like being home. We were close to everything, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, etc.. very convenient location.
Nino met us the first day and gave us lots of information and map about where to go and what to do. He checked on us in a regular basis. In a matter of fact, one night my wife wanted to eat Lasagna, we didn’t know where to go. So I called Nino, within less than 10 minutes he contacted us back to let us know where to go.
N.B.: My wife loved the lasagna...:)
Nino helped us to stay like Romans rather than tourists. Amazing experience not only because we stayed at his property but because we have another place that we can call it second home.
We will definitely return back to Rome and will definitely return to our second home “Nino’s place”.

Nino—what can I say? We had a GREAT experience at your place and enjoyed all the recommendations you gave us. You are a great host and we really enjoyed our time in Rome and seeing your beautiful city! We are exhausted, but feel like we saw a lot of your great city while there! Thanks so much! We would definitely recommend this place! Nino is a hidden gem and helped make our stay better!

Great apartment near transit
From the beginning the communication was fantastic as well as check in. Nino spent a lot of time introducing us to the area including walking us to the bus stops and explaining how the transit system worked. He booked our reservation for dinner the 1st night as well. Each day he check in asking how our day was and if we needed any suggested or had any questions. The apartment was very clean and organized. The building has an elevator which was fantastic for our luggage going up to the 2nd floor. The only downside is that the loft area where the bed is has a low ceiling so if you are on the taller side you just need to not jump out of bed. Besides that, which did not really effect our stay, I would rent here again.

Nino’s house is perfect!
Nino was the perfect host and his apartment is perfect to! He gave us a tour of his cozy place and made dinner reservations for us on our first night in Rome. The place is quite comfortable, with everything you need, like coffee and a coffee pot. The stove works well. The shower has nice hot water. The bed is comfy, I found an extra pillow in the cupboard. Nino explained the public transportation to us. His apartment is conveniently located with access to 2 different, convent bus lines to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the tram to the Vatican is very close too. Nino recommended a small, local place a half a block away where we had our Roman breakfast (croissant and cappuccino) and quick lunch (panini and Prosecco). Near by are 2 very convenient bus lines, the tram, tabaccherias (tobacco shops where you may purchase transit tickets), and tasty restaurants. Nino’s house has great WiFi, hot water, comfy bed, great location, and a thoughtful host. His apartment looks beautiful AND is comfortable. As I travel around Italy and stay in different places, I realize even more what a joy it was to have Nino as a host. His place is both charming and practical. He arranged a car to pick us up at the airport for a reasonable price, which we were grateful for since it was raining and I had never been to Rome before. He suggested we go to the Borghese Gallery, which you can walk to, and it was well worth it and not on my list before Nino suggested it. I highly recommend staying at Nino’s house and I hope to return myself!

Nino is the best
The landlord Nino is a delight! Not only is he charming and welcoming; he is an inexhaustible source of good information. Moments after we arrived at the apartment (he lives right next door), he sat down with a map and marked all the places he thought we should visit. Among the many great places he recommended were a couple of excellent restaurants and an amazing ice cream shop! The apartment was clean and efficient. Only one problem, and it you're over 5 feet, 8 inches tall, it's a Major Problem. The upstairs bedroom will not accommodate anyone over 5' 8". I'm 5' 10", and I bumped my head every time I got out of bed or walked up the stairs to the bedroom. Otherwise this is a great apartment in a great neighborhood with a great price. And of course there is Nino.

I am more than satisfied with my choice of the vacation rental
There are a couple of things I would like to mention at the beginning of my review.
There is no metro station within a walking distance.
A bedroom is located upstairs in the lofted area with a low ceiling 5’8 /173 cm.
Gaetano, the owner of this apartment, responded to my inquiry almost immediately. A month before my arrival Gaetano asked about my plans in Rome and gave me some good tips that I am really thankful for. A couple of weeks before my arrival he sent me detailed message how to get to the appointment.
Nino, a very nice gentleman, met me upon arrival, took time explaining where to shop for food, where to go for best ice cream, where to dine, how to get to the main attractions by local transportation. Bus stop is less than 5 min walk from an apartment.
I took Nino’s advice and did my shopping at “ Doc “ market (10-15min walk). I loved variety of fresh fruit, veggies, cheese, meats and freshly baked breads. I also had a dinner at the suggested restaurant with locals.
Apartment is clean, equipped with all necessary stuff, the bed is very very comfortable. Soundproof is not the best, but it gets quite at 9:30, must be a bedtime for neighbors children.
I am more than satisfied with my choice of the vacation rental.

Great stay, quiet and relaxing. Great host.
Nino was not in town for the check in but his daughter was waiting for my arrival and took care of everything. Nino texted me to know if everything was ok and helped me with any question I had. He also had great suggestions for visiting and eating. Amazing stay. Thank you Nino and Beatrice!

Best of both worlds
If Nino's house were just an alleyway with a sleeping bag, I would still give it a 5 star rating. Why? Because the host truly cares about the comfort and enjoyment of his guests. We were greated by Nino's wonderful daughter who showed us everything about the rental, and then walked us around the neighborhood showing us great restaurants and nearest bus stations. She was truly interested in our comfort while staying at Nino's place. Nino was on vacation, but that didn't stop him from communicating with us to let us know about great restaurants in the area, like BucaVino and Fiori Di Zucca. Nino even made a reservation for us at BucaVino and we were treated like royalty and given a discount for mentioning Nino's name. If it weren't for Nino we would have never found the best Gelato in all of Rome, Gelateria La Romana. That alone is worth a 5 star rating. Nino even arranged transportation for us back to the airport, again, all of this while he's on vacation thousands of miles away. If you decide to stay here I strongly encourage you to take Nino's suggestions to heart because they were all worth while.
But, if the owner was someone who didn't care about his guest, but just wanted the money, I would still give his place a 5 star rating. Nino's place is a very warm, clean and comfortable place. With the exception of the ingredients, we had everything we needed to cook ourselves a nice dinner (you can only eat so much pasta). The rental is in a safe location with an elevator, but with only one floor to climb, the stairs were not a problem. The bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows, nice couch with fast wireless made the time at Nino's a relaxing place to be.
So you can see, with Nino's place you get the best of both worlds, a great relaxing location and a host who was born and raised in the neighborhood. You can't ask for more. We would definitely go back if we have a chance to come to Rome again.

Home Away From Home - Trite but never more true!
Not even 2500 characters would do justice to the "Cozy Charming Quiet Studio" we walked into in Quartiere IV Salario, Roma.
Exhausted from an overnight flight we were met at the airport by a car arranged by our host, a most welcome introduction to 14 unmatched days in Gaetano's House. We had everything we needed, spacious bed, cozy and well-equipped kitchen, generous LR, and lots of light, all packed into an ageless Roma building.
But it was our host, Nino, who was the key to our stay, beginning even before we arrived. Following his spot-on advice, we purchased tours and skip-the-line access even before departure, avoiding endless lines and large crowds at Rome's numerous historic sites. The first day he walked us around the neighborhood, showing us the key public transit stops, food market, good restaurants, and even how to separate and put out the garbage.
He is very inclusive, but never intrusive, checking in on us at the end of each day, showing us his art, antiques and rare book collection, sharing the daily life of a sophisticated Roman gentleman (ask him about his Tango lessons), and treating us like family. On our last night we shared a wonderful dinner with him at his favorite restaurant, learning even more about his worldwide network of friends and family.
It was fun checking in with him each day sharing our daily adventures and getting his feedback and ideas for the coming days. He acted as our personal concierge making reservations and even handling a package delivery. Best of all was his storytelling talents about his life in Rome..
While Gaetano's House is more than nice, it is Nino who made our stay - his care, attention to our needs, support and advice made these two weeks much richer than most, about all one could ask. He sets a very high standard for his fellow VRBO hosts to meet.

Cozy, comfortable, charming apartment with helpful landlord.
The apartment is well-appointed with a very well-equipped kitchen (including oven) and a clothes washing machine. It is immaculately clean. Nino, the owner is more like a host than a landlord. He gave us an orientation tour of the neighborhood (where he has lived all his life and seems to know everybody) and noted his own personal list of “must-sees” on a map. He indicated the best restaurants in the neighborhood and even made reservations for us at two of the finer ones. Nearby are a mini-mart, deli, patisserie, a range of little cafes and restaurants, very nice women's and men's clothing stores, a fresh pasta shop. Bus and tram stops are also close. The apartment is just a couple of blocks from the delightful Quaertiere Coppedè and perhaps half a mile from the Borghese Gardens and the wonderful Museum and Gallery. Nino recommended the MyTaxi app, a very efficient way of ordering taxis in Rome. He arranged for our transfer from and to the airport, which went off without a hitch. The apartment is on a large, interior courtyard, very quiet. We were very pleased with our choice and would gladly stay there again.

Nino’s place was as advertised. Situated in a residential district close to the beautiful Borghese.
Nino was very eager to please us and help with our needs. His property was what we expected and it definitely suited our needs. He was able to guide us with public transportation, which was great, as we were in a residential area.
Thank you Nino for all of your help.
Best regards,

Quiet and cozy apartment with a great host
Our family of three really enjoyed our stay in Nino’s apartment. He made us feel very welcome and offered lots of information and tips to help us enjoy Rome to the fullest. The apartment is quiet and cozy and was a welcome spot to return after a long day of exploring. The only difficulty we had with the location were the long and sometimes unreliable buses that we used to explore Rome. Other than that, we had a terrific time and have already recommended this apartment to others.
Thank you Nino for sharing your apartment with us!

A cozy, clean and quiet flat; a charming and helpful host; and a prime location with amenities.
Three features of this VRBO rental make it a wise choice for a traveler eager to experience Rome at its best. I so chose and, after a two week sojourn, I haven’t a single regret.
First, the apartment is cozy, immaculately clean and - a commodity rare to Rome in any season - supremely quiet.
Moreover, the amenities are exhaustive: from refrigerator to microwave, oven to washing machine, wifi to TV, classic, stove top Italian coffee pots (caffettiere), even an umbrella - and the list goes on.
Second, there is Nino himself: not only is he a font of information, but he is also courteous and ever helpful. Moreover, he himself resides next door and readily makes himself accessible to a guest’s inqueries and requests.
Third: location, location, location! From fancy restaurants, to simple trattorias, pizza by-the-slice shops, and tavola caldas; a nearby, daily street market; a cab stand on the square; a supermarket around the corner; bus routes to Stazione Termini and the Piazza Venezia; Natalizia’s famous pastry shop and Sesto’s noon day dishes
My own favorite haunt soon became Santi Sebastiano e Valentino, literally just around the corner on the Via Tirso 107. Whether for a morning cappuccino and corneto or an exquisitely simple luncheon meal served up on freshly baked breads and focaccias, the waitresses and bakers could not have been more friendly.
On my next trip to Rome, I'll book Nino's House for sure.

Charming, Perfectly Located!
First things first - our host, Nino was the best part of our stay in this lovely, well-appointed apartment. He is warm, funny, charming and an invaluable source of local information - making suggestions, helping with reservations, directions and transportation needs. He loves his city and wants you to love it too. The apartment is tastefully furnished with everything needed - all we had to bring was our luggage. Lovely views from the windows and even a washing machine at your disposal! Location is in a quiet, clean and upscale area of Rome, walking distance to The Borghese Gallery and Gardens, Catacombs and other major city sites. Amazing restaurants, beautiful shopping, and coffee shops along with taxi stands and easy hop on buses make the neighborhood a visitor’s dream. The best take-away of our Rome visit was by far, our new lovely friend, Nino. We highly recommend!!

This property is in an excellent location and has all the amenities anyone could wish for. In addition, the property is very, very clean. I stayed here for almost two weeks, and absolutely loved it. Nino, the owner, is hospitable and efficient, and I will definitely return when I visit Rome again.

For no good reason that I can think of, I have missed posting my review on this wonderful property. We stayed at Nino's for 10 days in October and had a genuinely exceptional experience. My husband described the location at 'upper East Side,' with its shops, restaurants, services, parks and transportation. Nino's building has a huge entry that is pristine and well lit and the apartment itself is charming, clean and convenient. As he must do with all his guests, Nino gave us a leisurely introduction to the neighborhood and made certain that we knew how to find everything we needed. And when the laundry facilities in the apartment failed, he ensured that the laundry was done! While it might have been a tiny bit more convenient to be located closer to Rome's tourist attractions, we were thrilled to be able to experience life in this beautiful neighborhood and to learn a few Italian words from Nino. We were intrigued, in between our sojourns around Rome, to share moments with Nino and hear about the life of one family with deep roots in this wonderful city.

We had a neat time at Gaetano's place. Clean, quiet and well provisioned, the apartment is located within 2-3 blocks of both bus and tram stops. The owner was very helpful with directions, showing where to shop, etc. The design and architecture of the building and neighborhood buildings is enjoyable. The place is a good value for Rome.

My wife and I stayed at Gaetano’s/Nino’s House, via Basento 55, in Rome in mid-October prior to our Trans-Atlantic cruise.
We have visited Rome on numerous occasions over the past decade and have always stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels on these occasions. Gaetano’s/Nino’s House is a one bedroom apartment. The price was very price competitive with 4-5 * hotels and we decided to rent the apartment because of the numerous outstanding past visitor reviews posted on several websites.
If anything, the reviews under-stated how wonderful the rental experience was for us! The apartment is located in a very quiet and pleasant upscale residential area in Rome. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the major bus routes, Borghese Gallery, etc.
Gaetano/Ninos House was very clean, very well maintained, and was exactly as described by the owner on the website we used. The apartment is more than adequate for a couple. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the necessary utensils as well as an ample supply of coffee, etc. The bathroom and loft bedroom also had more than adequate bedding, towels, etc. Note that there is an inexpensive food market within one block of the apartment. The most pleasant part of the entire experience, however, was the professionalism and friendship of the owner Nino Gaetano. Nino is amazing! Prior to our arrival we had numerous questions about our suggested itinerary for the three days we were in Rome. He quickly answered our inquiries with substantive responses that were extremely helpful to us in saving time and money.
We arrived early in the morning from a Trans-Atlantic flight and the apartment was still occupied, as expected. Nino allowed us to store our luggage and he took us on a very helpful one-hour walking tour of the area. He showed us where the bus stops were, Borghese gardens, etc. He also helped us with obtaining additional Euros and offered time-saving tips. He helped arrange for the taxi from the airport to his home, and the taxi to the central train station to pick up the train to Civitavecchia for our cruise. We highly recommend the taxi service Nino arranged. It was very convenient and price competitive.
We look forward to returning to Rome in the future and hopefully to spend at least a week

Our accomodations were excellent. The owner is very friendly and ready to help. We rented several appartments is Italy during our trip and found this to be the best kitchen arrangment. It was fully stocked and even had cooking knives.
Just for those that do not know what to expect the upstairs loft has a clearance of about 5 feet 8 inches. If you are taller than that you will need to watch your head. The only other issue would be the caulking in the shower needs to be redone as mold is starting to grow but I am positive Nino has already planned to fix this.
Execellent location with many good restaurants close by. No parking if you have a car.

My husband and I rented Nino's apartment for a week. I can't say enough about it . Nino is very personable and speaks many languages. He showed us around the area, where to get the tram, bus, etc. The apartment is within a block of all transportation to see the major sites. To get the best review, to which I agree 100%, read what Daniel M has to say about it.

My wife and I spent 9 days at Nino's for our honeymoon and we loved it!
Host: Nino was so helpful and kind, he’s fun to be around too! For any first time tourists he is great to have around- he is a native Roman who is proficient in several languages. His English was great. When we first arrived he greeted us with a bottle of wine! After showing us around the apartment, he took as for a walk around the neighborhood. He showed us where all the important things in the city were: the ATM, bus stops, tram stop, pharmacy, where to get bus tickets, where the daily produce market would be, restaurants, and the supermarket. Nino gave us a map of the entire city, gave suggestions for our itinerary, suggestions for local restaurants and gelato. We were pleased with all of his suggestions! A suggestion- make friends with Nino! Invite him out or invite him over for dinner, talk to him and tell him about your day! He really is a great guy and his friendship really enhanced the experience of our trip. We had a lot of fun and had a lot of fun and unique experiences with him. We still try to talk to him!
Apartment: This apartment is loaded with anything you would need for a week + stay. A/C worked great. It was nice to be able to pack a little lighter knowing there was a washer and a drying rack. We saved a lot of money being able to cook our own meals on his gas range, bake in the oven, and pack sandwiches for our day trips. We had access to good WiFi so we could keep in contact with family and friends. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean. Clean linens were provided and changed on a weekly basis. Nino provided not only an espresso machine but also espresso! He had a lot of the kitchen staples already there, plenty of pots, pans, and all the kitchen gadgets you would need to make a decent meal. The bedroom upstairs in the loft, a nice queen sized bed that was nice to come home to after spending an entire day on your feet!
Location: We felt safe in the community. It’s a cute though a little dirty (you need to learn to accept this about Rome). We enjoyed peace and quiet at Nino’s house. Nino’s house is far enough away from the touristy hustle and bustle, but it’s also only one bus or tram ride away from several important locations- the city center, the Vatican, termini station, and many more.
If you're going to Rome, want to have a fantastic experience, and want a bargain price, stay at Nino’s! 5 stars!

Gorgeous apartment in nice & safe area. Walkable into town (but we often got the bus back after a long day sight-seeing). Villa Borghese very close - great for jogging. Very friendly owner, showed us around and Gave us some great recommendations. Clearly passionate about his home city! Would definitely come back.
