About this apartment rental
Welcome to (8D) Alexander Wilson House at St. Philip Square. We are nested in the heart of historic downtown Charleston - steps away from King Street (1 block) and Calhoun Street (.4 miles). DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROPERTY: •3 Bedrooms •1 king bed, 2 queens, 1 queen sofa-sleeper •2 Bathrooms with showers •Brand new fully stocked kitchen, granite counter •Historic, high ceilings, hardwood floors •Fully renovated, professionally designed •Piazza with 6 chairs and tables •Antique dining table can be set up, serves 6 •Parking THE APARTMENT ITSELF The apartment is entered from the second floor piazza overlooking historic rooftops, set in the back, away from any street noise. The living/kitchen space combines a gorgeous new kitchen that opens into a comfortable, charming living room. It has a brand new West Elm queen sofa sleeper with high end gel mattress. There are two matching club chairs, one more chair, and an eating counter with stools. The granite counter opens onto the brand new kitchen with granite counter tops, all new stainless steel appliances (stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, sink and disposal, microwave) and a spacious pantry. Over the counter is a inch flat screen tv. Throughout the apartment you will enjoy the beautiful hardwood floors. The three designer BEDROOMS have full closets and chests of drawers and dressing tables, bedside tables and reading lamps. One bedroom has a new king bed and the other two rooms have new queen size beds. The two bathrooms are easily accessed and have new granite counters, new sinks and marble floors. Tucked into one bathroom is a stack washer/dryer In one bedroom is a drop leaf antique mahogany table that can easily be set up for more formal dining in the living room and 6 lovely dining room chairs that complete the elegant setting. The piazza is a typical charming Charleston feature and helps give our guests a true sense of being a "Charlestonian". We have seating for 6 where you can enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail after exploring the quaint streets, shops and restaurants. GROUPS On the first floor of this building is a newly renovated 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment and next door to these apartments is another VRBO by the same owner with 3 bedrooms. The three rentals combine to make an ideal setting for a larger group. This apartment is fresh, cozy, comfortable and tasteful. It has been inspired by one of the best, authentic Charleston designers. LEGAL & BEST LOCATION This charming three bedroom totally renovated apartment is ideally located in the newly designated legal "short term overlay" for legal short term rental in Charleston. Within the overlay, this property is in the southernmost part of that area which means it is as close as you can legally be to the South of Broad/Calhoun St historic districts without an owner present. Be sure to study the map because not all "historic" properties are so well situated. HISTORIC AND MODERN In addition, some properties in the overlay are new construction. When visiting historic Charleston, why would you want to stay in a new condo when you can stay in a "Carolopolis" award winning historic building which has been newly renovated with all the modern conveniences? THE NEIGHBORHOOD Slightly north of the College of Charleston on historic St. Philip Street this charming apartment is the perfect base to enjoy an enchanting Charleston experience. Charleston is like Rome, Italy in that most of the notable monuments and historic details are found in a fairly contained area. You can literally walk from the apartment to the southernmost extremes of the Historic District in under 30 minutes. This journey will take you through the Historic King Street District and the neighborhoods of Cannonborough, Elliottborough, Radcliffborough, Harleston Village and finally South of Broad until you reach the Battery itself. TEAVEL INSURANCE AND CREDIT CARD INFO We strongly advise during the month of September particularly, and some into October that you purchase trip insurance. It is the peak of hurricane season in our area. We do not offer refunds or date changes for any reason outside the cancellation period.

This is a beautiful, historic
, Charleston style unit. Plenty of space. We had five in our party but could have had two more without an issue. The unit was very very clean. Came equipped with everything we needed. Yummy smelling Dove soap product to are a nice touch. Beds are very comfortable. Towels are soft. And again CLEAN. Washer and dryer are small so we did one small load per day. Super convenient. On-site parking is great. Location is great. Several coffee shops, yummy donuts, bagels, breakfast spots and food choices within a five minute walk. The market and historic sites near the water front are about a 15-20 mi it’s walk away. I loved sitting outside in the morning with my cup of tea. The porches have beautiful plants and plenty of seating. This unit also has a small private patio with a table which was nice. Our only complaint is noise. There’s lots of noise during the day from trucks and workers. One night there was also a very loud party a block away. Obviously not the fault of the property owners and management. It is a city after all. We definitely would stay at one of the properties onsite again.

We loved our stay at St Philips Square. My family shared two units. Both were clean, well appointed with comfy beds and cute decor. Jamie very promptly answered any questions we had. Would definitely stay again when next in Charleston.

A girl’s trip to see Charleston. This apartment was great. Very clean , everything was as advertised.
Property Manager, Jamie was terrific and even offered to come over at 10:30 pm to help with a TV issue. So nice to have a manager that responded.

This property was exactly as described and worked out great for us! It met our needs of 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, with an outdoor space to enjoy. We had our coffee on the porch each morning which was very enjoyable! We also used the outdoor commom area for evening drinks which was very nice. The living area is a bit small, but it was not an issue. The location is awesome! It's walking distance to everything! The property manager, Jamie, was easy to communicate with! There is construction going on in the neigborhood that was a bit noisy at times, but this is only an temporary issue.

Other than being on the second floor, the location and property were perfect for our girls’ trip. Just a couple of blocks away from a free bus stop we were able to get everywhere we wanted—for FREE—and not worry about parking. There were some minor things needing attention. We informed the management and they said they would address them. All in all, we can highly recommend this place on St. Philips Square!

The property was just as described, clean and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. The only drawback was the noise of the nearby bars. The available sound machine was helpful. The location was within walking distance to most of our activities.

This property was one of the nicest and best stocked properties I have used from VRBO. The location is convenient. The apartment was clean, spacious and really quite lovely. The information provided on the location, check in, and amenities was thorough and clear. I really cant say enough good things about the property. Would stay there again anytime and recommend it to friends.

Lovely and very convenient location. Very comfortable inside. All we needed for a girls trip. Highly recommend the place. Owner was very fast on responding to any questions I had. We are starting a girls Christmas trip every year now that a couple of the grandkids are getting older to appreciate and enjoy the trip. Charleston and the place will be great memories for the 3 grandkids and the other women of the family.

There were three couples who stated in this unit. Plenty of space. Very clean and well stocked. Great location to see Charleston either on foot or driving distance. Just keep in mind, you are in downtown Charleston area highly populated with students and party goers on King street. It will be noisy on the weekends. We had a great time. Will be back.

Can't wait to return!
The property was everything we could have hoped! Spacious, charming and clean. Each room was bright and beautifully furnished, just as pictured. With a great location we were able to walk to restaurants and shopping on King Street and with the full kitchen, we also had the option of eating in. We came on a very hot weekend and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We did trip the power once without realizing it but we are able to get ahold on the property manager within minutes and she helped us fix it and even offered to come over if we couldn't figure it out. Thank you for a wonderful trip to Charleston! We will definitely be back.

We stayed here for our son's wedding weekend in Charleston It was perfect spot to use as home base and was extremely comfortable and convenient. The property managers were very responsive and the property is stocked with so many extras. Every time we started a sentence with, "I wonder if they have..." we ended it with "yes". I highly recommend this property!

Nice change from a hotel
We wanted to stay someplace different from a hotel. This was very unique and fit our needs. It was clean, well stocked and within walking distance to a lot of shops/restaurants. The property manager was quick to answer calls and emails. I would recommend for adults, however, I would not feel safe with young children on the upper balconies. We would definitely stay at one of these properties again.
