Come enjoy a relaxing retreat set in a beautiful garden conveniently located halfway between Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. Foxglove cottage is a charming cottage surrounded by a lovely garden situated on 20 acres of majestic fir and cedar forest.There is a small swimming pond with a dock and my artists studio ..The house is completely remodeled and almost brand new. There are slate floors in the kitchen, dining room and entry way and bamboo floors thru out the rest of the house. The original structure was built with beach logs and field stones and lots of creativity . This is truly a craftsman's creation. The master bedroom is large and spacious . The guest bedroom feels like a tree house. The upstairs bathroom has slate floors, a stone sink , tile shower and small Jacuzzi tub. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and flat screen HDTV. The guest bedroom also has a queen size bed. Both bedrooms have lots of windows viewing the surrounding garden. The living room has a double door onto a small patio overlooking the pond. There is a large flat screen T.V. and DVD player. The house has access to Dish television. The kitchen is completely equipped for you to do your own meals . There is a large window seat for lounging . Right outside the kitchen is a patio with table and chairs for outside dining. The owners live on the property and will be available for any questions you may have. Interaction can be as much or as little as you like. Fresh fruit and veggies will often be available from the garden. Just ask me what might be ripe for the picking. The property is deer fenced so we ask our guests to please remember to close the gates. It is truly amazing how much one deer can eat in an evening stroll thru the garden. We have a young cream retriever who may wander down for a visit. We try to keep her away from the guests but she is very friendly and loves people above all things. She tends to bark a bit on your arrival which is a greeting of hooray finally someone has come to see me. We are working on this. If you have an issue with dogs please let me know. There are many wonderful and exciting places to visit on San Juan Island. There are numerous beaches and parks close by. You can hike , bike, swim, whale watch, kayak, or just relax. It is truly a vacationers paradise.

Stayed her with my wife and her parents as a delayed birthday celebration for her mother. Typically, when the two of us travel, we worry little about the place we are staying, because we are often on the go exploring and enjoying a new place. However, with the family in tow, we knew that we would be looking at a slower and likely more homey-style vacation. This place turned out to be the perfect choice.
The property is secluded, but still central (about a 15-minute drive) to any part of San Juan Island. The grounds are a stunning mix of open space and an impressive flower, fruit, and vegetable garden. The home was clean, comfortable, spacious, and more than met all of our needs as we lounged, explored, cooked, and caught up over the week we spent here.
I strongly recommend this place for anyone looking to "have it all" when traveling to the Islands.

This was probably the most comfortable VRBO in which I have stayed. It was in a beautiful location not far from the harbor, but away from the crowd of people at the harbor. It was surrounded by beautiful gardens. The design of the cottage displayed incredible craftsmanship. The art on the walls (which was probably created by the owner) was beautiful and added to the character of the cottage. The cottage had all of the necessary amenities. Nothing was lacking with regard to support of daily living.
I would go back and hope that I was able to spend more time just being on site.

We two couples enjoyed our two night stay in the artfully furnished and decorated home. The spacious bedrooms, separate bathrooms, comfortable living room and large well-equipped kitchen made it easy to relax together. The fruit, flowers and vegetables in abundance all around the property made the beautiful setting private and luscious. And the gorgeous, happy hens were fun to talk with too. The mid- island location was very convenient for our exploratory outings. Becky was communicative and accommodating for our arrival time. We enjoyed a brief chat with her on our second afternoon. We’ll definitely recommend this sweet place to others!

Absolute beautiful property with a natural pond to swim in. The Cottage you stay in below the main house is cute and has some custom craftsmanship charm. You might also be greeted by Lulu the dog a friendly girl. Doesn’t take long to get anywhere on the island. The cell reception is dodgy and Wi-Fi. But if you are looking for a quiet stay this is quite nice.

This is a lovely venue situated in the middle of the island, therefore a vehicle is needed. It is larger than what "cottage" might imply. It has a full kitchen and dining area, separate TV room, washer & dryer, a full bathroom on main floor, two bedrooms with full bathroom upstairs. There is no air conditioning, only fans, so it can get quite warm upstairs, but the evenings and early mornings were quite comfortable.
The property is spectacularly lovely nestled in a truly huge English garden setting with a pond, fruit trees, abundance of flowers and vegetables all around.
Our host Becky was very pleasant, full of island knowledge, though we were mostly interested in her garden. Lulu, Becky's dog, is quite friendly but also knows her place. We did not meet Becky's husband, as he was doing some volunteer work elsewhere.
We had a wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone wanting to be out of downtown and able to access the island in all directions easily by vehicle.

The property was amazing! Hostess was welcoming and helpful. She is an artist and has amazing artwork! My kids loved playing with the dog and checking out the chickens and garden. My parents loved the garden and quite places to enjoy nature and read.

Foxglove Cottage was the perfect place to stay for our visit to San Juan. The house is very quaint, and surrounded by Becky’s lovely gardens. It’s well furnished, had all the necessities, and was a unique and fun place to stay (especially with Becky’s paintings decorating the place!) We enjoyed visiting her art studio and were charmed by the pond and scenic area it was located in. Overall, a lovely place!

The home was really nice and as shown in the pictures. The hosts were friendly too. They responded quickly to any of our requests/concerns. I would definitely recommend this to any one visiting Friday Harbor. Only flip side was that the drawers had clothes from previous guests which was not something we expected. We anyway did not use those drawers since there were many other storage spaces.

The Artist's Cottage and setting are enchanting and delightful. Becky greeted us and shared some of their history and love of this land and their development of it. Becky's art and artistic touch is throughout the cottage and the gardens as are her husband's workmanship. It was so enchanting we found ourselves wondering if we would be able to leave. My friends favorite spot was the window seat looking out onto the gardens and pond. The beds were heavenly. We did manage to pull ourselves away from the enchantment each day and in our 3 days explored San Juan Island and much of what it has to offer. It was nice to be away from all the activity and easy access and drives to Friday Harbor and highlights on the island. We enjoyed excellent food, incredible nature and scenery - loved scenic byway loop - highlights for us on our explorations were the Cattlepoint lighthouse, Lime-Kiln park, the lavendar and alpaca farms, Roche Harbor, and whale watching - saw 5 pods - 22 Orca whales - amazing! Each night happy and tired, we were grateful to return to our enchanted cottage. We highly recommend The Artist's Cottage. Becky and her dog, Lulu, were very friendly and welcoming as well as respected our privacy.

The cottage is artist's labor of love. You can tell they have spent years dialing in the decor and the garden. The photos are nice, but they really don't do it justice. It's out in the country and it's one of the most relaxing places I've ever stayed. My daughters (five and seven) played in the garden and by the pond with the hosts' cute Golden Retriever, Lulu and I sat and watched from the window nook.

Three great friends of many years enjoyed uninterrupted stories and laughter while gazing out on colorful flower gardens and the pond. Only 10 minutes to Friday Harbor for dining enjoyment and shopping or whale hunting on the south and west coasts. Lovely time!!

If a home could give you a hug, this beautiful cottage (inside and out) would be doing it from the moment you step through it’s gate to see the painted and flowery “Foxglove Preschool” sign hanging sign next to its front door to stepping in to its slate floored foyer. The architecture comprised of plentiful and arched windows and doors, timber beams, skylights, a cozy and ample window seat that was complimented by its design using a rich color palate and incredible artwork that welcomes you in. After a brief assessment of the surroundings, my husband said, “Let’s just cancel our plans and stay here the whole time! You brought a book didn’t you?” And I said, “I want to move!” We did leave the cottage (after enjoying a glass of wine on the patio in front of the abundant flower garden with a view to the pond) to go to dinner at Duck Soup - easily the best restaurant on the island which was only 6 minutes away. We loved meeting our host, Becky, an artist whose equally charming art studio graces the property, and hearing the history of the property which has been custom-built and renovated by her husband who obviously puts as much passion into his design/building as Becky does into her art. So much more could be said, but suffice it to say, we highly recommend a stay at this one-of-a-kind get-away on San Juan Island!!

This was an awesome and unique property. It was super secluded, very quiet and absolutely beautiful. The host was nice, interesting and a pleasure to talk with. Besides the cottage being a work of art, the host is an artist. The grounds are superb. To cap it all off, there is a precious dog that comes to visit almost every morning. This place is truly paradise.

My family and I (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed at this magical, stunning property for 3 nights in July. Everything about the home and grounds was perfection. The house was roomy and comfortable, modern kitchen amenities, beautiful furnishings and artwork. The hosts were available and friendly, and an added bonus was daily visits from lovely Lulu the Golden Retriever! We will definitely be back!!

The gardens are beautiful and relaxing, the kitchen alcove was our favorite hangout when we were relaxing at the house. There are other places outside to sit and enjoy the garden and pond. However, this was a very bad year for mosquitos which made it uncomfortable to be outside in the morning and evenings. The house is not in town but is centrally located. The bedrooms are large but the mattresses were a little firm for us. Overall we had a great time. There are some things that I am adding as cons so people are aware. The wifi appears to come from the main house, which means no streaming on the TV. The TV didn't have any instructions on how to use it with the DVD player. We found that the wifi would only work in the early morning. This was very inconvenient for me as I did have a small amount of work to do while I was on vacation. Cell phone service is not reliable. There are skylights (Windows) in the ceiling of the second bedroom without any window covering. We stayed during the hottest week of the summer and this room was well into 100 degrees in the evening with no way to cool it off. There are fans but it just blew the hot air around. The owner let us arrive early on our arrival date as the house was ready, but later in the week she asked if we could leave early. I found this to be unprofessional, we based our ferry reservation on leaving at 11am. It all worked out but was a bit frustrating to get the request.

We loved the unique charm of this cottage. There was lots of room. The outside was full of beautiful trees and flowers. It's a great place to be if you want to disconnect from the digital world. I would come back if I had the opportunity.
