Great Hotel outside of Vik

The room was very comfortable as well as having a spacious bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and they had a great breakfast buffet with fruits, baked goods, and traditional Icelandic foods. Staff was very friendly and I really enjoyed the installations at the site.

Hotel Katla is outside of Vik, about five minutes away. We have previously traveled to Iceland before and have always stayed in Vik so we were a little surprised it was outside of the town when we were heading to the hotel but it was not a longs way and you could quickly drive up and down the main road to Vik. The Hotel feels more private and helps getting a good night's rest.

Relaxing, perfect setting and a great place to stay in Vik!

Beautiful hotel with lots of different outbuildings that all seem to have a beautiful view attached. Great spa access with an heated outdoor tub, which I can imagine are great for looking out for the northern lights! The perfect distance from Vik as we like it a little quieter. Great big windows too!

We had to leave at 6am to head over to snowmobiling in the south east on Vatnajökull, so we were unable to make breakfast - I’d have liked this to start a little earlier than 7am considering a lot of people use Vik as a stopping point too! But the hotel is incredibly beautiful :)

Simple, but clean and comfortable.

Facilities were clean, bed was warm and comfortable, bathroom and shower were good. Breakfast was great, coffee at breakfast was much better than the instant in the room.

One soap for both hair and body.

Muy bonito

El hotel en si esta muy bien, desayuno muy muy variado, jacuzzi pequeño para la cantidad de gente que hay, siempre estaba lleno, las chicas de recepción hablaban español, cosa que se agradece. Habitación muy grande y el baño privado muy bonito.

Lo que menos me gusto fue el precio, lo vi muy elevado para lo que ofrecen.

We booked and paid for a room for 2 adults and one child, 11 years old. When we arrived at the hotel there was a queen size twin bed in our room but no extra bed or sofa bed for our son. When asking for an extra bed they said they would charge us an extra 65 Euros but it did not matter as they did not have any spare extra beds. This was very annoying. When I book and pay for a room for 3 people, I expect 3 beds.

Not impressed, will not stay again. But great staff!

Staff was fantastic, room was large and clean. Parking was plentiful and easy. Beautiful views.

No shampoo or conditioner in the room, had to ask at front desk. No wash cloths provided. Bathroom design is terrible! Open shower soaked the floor and toilet. Duvet cover and pillow case are almost as scratchy as icelandic wool and made it hard to get comfortable in bed. Physical room keys with wooden knobs bang into doors and make a ton of noise in the hallway as people come and go. We said no room service at check in and left the hang tag for do not disturb on the door, when we returned our room had been serviced which was NOT ok to enter! Over all, far too expensive for the location, the amenities, and the outdated provisions. Will not stay there again.

A great breakfast with a lot of different dishes. t

The receptionists were really unfriendly. Sauna and hot tub were closed on our first day. We choose the hotel especially because of these facilities. We used the first day the cup and glasses in our room and there were not cleaned they other day.
