Great hotel. Our first stop in Iceland and they made us feel very welcome. We had the beef in the restaurant and it was divine. Lovely stay overall and just round the corner from a beautiful waterfall that you can walk behind! Also a short walk from the black beaches. Thanks for a lovely stay!

We loved our stay at Umi. It was clean, the staff were always helpful and friendly, and the area the hotel is in is absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommend staying here.

Awesome hotel. Very modern. It was very away from everything and very quiet. Laso wasn't too far away from the main attractions in the area.

Excellent experience

There were pros and cons to our stay. I will still give 10/10 because the dinner we had was amazing, the property and walk to the beach was stunning, and the staff was incredibly friendly. However, the rooms were smaller than the other stays in Iceland. It also got very hot at night and the window would only open an inch or so. No black out curtains but this wasn't a problem for us during our September stay. The bathroom sink would spill over if turned on full blast. These things were annoying and might deter some but we would probably stay again and recommend to family and friends!

Beautifully tranquil setting

Best breakfast of our whole trip! Lovely place - hope to be back. A hot tub/hot spring would be fabulous especially with that view!

Nice location but the room is a little average considering the price.

We stayed at a different hotel/accommodation every night during our trip to the south coast of Iceland and this was our family’s favorite place to stay. The hotel is very peaceful and it was also nice to be able to open the window in our room to let in some cool air in July when we were there. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast -the food and coffee was very good. We would stay at Umi Hotel again.

Beautiful, private property in the middle of a field close to Vik, about 45 minutes away.

Very enjoyable stay, staff is amazing, attention to details is really great and very unique comparing to other hotels in Iceland. Attentive and helpful staff members are truly a gem of this hotel. Outstanding restaurant, we had the best meals in Iceland during the whole trip. Perfection. 11/10. Keep up the good work!

the best hotel we stayed in Iceland by far

Nice hotel and attentive staff. A bit odd to have to drive a mile long unpaved road to access the hotel.

Really excellent hotel. We stayed two days using Umi Hotel as our base to explore the southern area. Close to falls and black sand beach. The onsite dining was fabulous, the staff was attentive, friendly, and a pleasure. Highly recommend.

Wonderful stay at Umi. Staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming and very helpful. Particularly in notifying when the Lights appeared. Hotel is in a stunning location. Hotel is fantastic! Restaurant was also great, good food and great service. Cannot find any fault! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Would recommend this to anybody going east on the south side! Beautiful scenery, great service, clean and accommodating room, fanatastic breakfast and dinner options.

Staff was super friendly, everything was nice and clean. Breakfast was awesome and location could not have been any better.

Overall, our stay at Umi was just ok. Here are some pros and cons: Positives: 1. Good location, close to a lot of great stuff. 2. The modern design aesthetic is cool. 3. Everything was very clean. 4. Solid breakfast. 5. We had dinner at the restaurant, and the food here was better than any of the other hotel restaurants we went to during our trip. 6. One of the staff members we interacted with was incredibly kind and lovely. She was our server for dinner and she was great and went above and beyond. Negatives: 1. The soundproofing is really bad. Significantly worse than all of the other hotels in Iceland we stayed in. You will legitimately hear everything outside your hotel room. 2. Beds were not comfortable. We stayed in several hotels during our trip, and the beds at Umi were the worst. 3. Window ventilation was very limited, and our room got too hot. This was uncomfortable. Overall, they got a lot of things right with the design and the food. Unfortunately, the negative items are primary to getting a good night’s sleep, which is the main purpose of a hotel. Would I stay here again? Honestly probably not. The negatives are too problematic to justify the cost of this hotel, and unfortunately it was the least comfortable sleep of our trip compared to the other hotels we stayed in.

Great atmosphere. Superb view. Very friendly staff! All was well though for ur to have a great stay (ie: alarm system to see the northern lights, coffee and croissants available for very early check-out).
