Casita Don Manuel | In Downtown Santa Fe, Private Yard + Kiva Fireplace!
About this house rental
Situated in Santa Fe, this attractive house for $180 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Casita Don Manuel is an oasis of quiet and charm within the South Capitol neighborhood of downtown Santa Fe. The one-bedroom home is tucked away on a secluded residential lane and surrounded by adobe walls. As you linger over your morning coffee or evening cocktails in the lushly landscaped private courtyard, you might forget just how close you are to shops, restaurants, and historical sights. For instance, in just 15 minutes you can stroll to Santa Fe Railyard, a former transportation hub that’s now chock-full of galleries, markets, and eateries. Only a 20-minute walk away are San Miguel Mission, the country’s oldest church, and Loretto Chapel, with its must-see helix staircase. And in less than a half-hour you can walk to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and Santa Fe Plaza, the National Historic Landmark that’s home to more shops and galleries as well as the Palace of the Governors. If you want to hop in your car—and Casita Don Manuel has its own parking spaces, so you don’t have to worry about circling the block in search of a spot—you can be at Museum Hill and the galleries of Canyon Road in less than 10 minutes. Or drive a bit longer and hike Atalaya Mountain, climb Thompson Peak, or hit the slopes of Ski Santa Fe. A superb location isn’t the only reason to stay at Casita Don Manuel, however. A Pueblo Revival-style charmer, the adobe home is a cheery, bright retreat. Skylights and French doors let in plenty of sunlight; the white-painted viga ceiling beams, the tiled floor, and the wood-burning kiva fireplace add traditional Southwestern flair. With its well-cushioned leather sofa and roomy armchair, the living room invites you to kick back and watch TV, read, or chat over nibbles and drinks. That sofa, by the way, opens into a queen-size bed, so that Casita Don Manuel can sleep four people in all. Numerous restaurants are close by, but sometimes eating in is more relaxing (and easier on the wallet). Luckily several grocery stores and markets are nearby as well, and the casita has a kitchen fully equipped with appliances, gadgets, cookware, and tableware. You can savor your meal at the dining area’s table for four or outside in the courtyard, at the bistro table for 2. You can cook as well as dine alfresco, courtesy of the charcoal grill. The bedroom is furnished in the same relaxed Southwestern style as the rest of Casita Don Manuel. In addition to the spacious king-size bed, it includes a desk where you can set up your laptop and log on to the free WiFi. With an armoire and a closet, the bedroom offers plenty of storage. Whether your dream vacation entails exploring the mountains and desert, visiting galleries and museums, admiring Native American culture and centuries-old buildings, or simply soaking up the plentiful Santa Fe sunshine, you’ll find Casita Don Manuel the perfect retreat. So book your stay today, and make your dream vacation a reality! Permit#:16-00136878 Kokopelli Property Management Vacation Rentals: RunAwayGetAway to Santa Fe! This Casitas is the perfect VRBO. It’s close to the Plaza and many amenities. This quaint place is a perfect way “to-do” Santa Fe!

The casita was great and a good price but has some deferred maintenance. The dishwasher and stove doors were wonky. Linens worn. But otherwise a great place. It had snowed and was too icy to take the route in info so it would be nice to be warned because there was a second easy to find direct way to get there. 7 days later road still not safe to use due to low temps. Not able to talk to someone during the day most times I called and response was often slow. Still recommend though!

At the intersection of one way road, the location was quiet and very little traffic. The backyard space is nice and a good spot for hanging out especially for our dog. Kiva fireplace makes it quintessential New Mexico. The furnishing are old, 30 year old dishwasher had note to be careful, waiting on parts to fix. King size bed is old and on springs, so every movement makes a noise. Two coffee machines with only one mini carafe. We had a couple wild visitors, not an extreme nuisance but needed to watch out at night in the backyard. We enjoyed our time, but it could have been more comfortable.

We liked this charming, tho somewhat shabby, property. It totally met our needs for a 4 day stay. It has a small back yard which we enjoyed, tho not much sitting area. It's in a lovely neighborhood and walking distance to main SF attractions, and parking right in front. Despite the shabbiness (window shades, throw pillows, toilet not well attached to wall) we would return.

I thought the resident was charming and in a good location. The appliances and kitchen nice and clean. Bath was clean.
The floors need a good scrubbing. My socks were very dirty walking on the floors.

It has become extremely clear that VRBO does NOT vet their properties that are posted on line. Inaccuracies are rampant. We will NEVER again use your company. This property had numerous deficiencies that were not only inconvenient, but DANGEROUS! Rust in the bottom of the microwave, warning signs on many appliances, NO AIR CONDITIONING! A TRULY TERRIBLE PROPERTY, especially for seniors. YOu should be ashamed to even post anything about that property.

I have visited Santa Fe many times over 15 years and have used Kokopelli many times with my spouse. Usually our stays are very good. Our stay at the Casita Don Manuel was horrendous. I would like a 50% refund. The a big issue was the uninhabitable heat conditions that we endured over two days and nights in a house that trapped the heat. I know that AC was not included in this particular property. Yet, the conditions were unbearable. We did not get much sleep at all because the heat lingered in the house and would not let up largely because the old refrigerator generated so much heat that the place stayed at over 90 degrees the whole time. Yes, the management provided fans but they were inconsequential, useless. A few of the Windows would not open because they were broken making the situation worse. The property should only be rented in winter until AC unites are installed. Aside from the major problem of the heat, the toilet is not properly fastened to the floor causing us to almost fall a few times. Next, the dishwasher door is broken and falls crashing to the floor. This heavy dishwasher door could potentially break someone’s foot if they don’t know about it. The kitchen faucet is loose and seems to be on the brink of falling off all together. The patio was littered with fruit - it hadn’t been swept in a while. A skunk lurks around the trashcans at night resulting in us having to close the bedroom window in order to keep this rather large creature out. The

Property was nice, great location BUT TOO HOT! Left one night early because of heat and noises box springs! Would be nice to supply coffe and some light treats too.

The casita was charming with a lovely enclosed outdoor garden. It’s close to the downtown sites and within walking distance to a grocery store and restaurants. We enjoyed morning walks through the neighborhood with our dog. I highly recommend this property.

Good location-nice property. Kitchen facet needs repair and the oven door doesn’t close all the way. Since we stayed over on a Tuesday night we had to take out the trash can to the road but no instructions as to we’re it needed to go. So the trash was not picked up. The info on the refrigerator said we would be charged for excess trash-don’t stay here on Tuesday

Everything we expected and more. Close to Everything we wanted to do
Very quiet in a nice neighborhood. Met a few of the neighbors-very friendly as was everyone we met in Santa Fe.
Overall very comfortable & would recommend this property to anyone that asks about staying in Santa Fe.

Decent location but everything was skewed by the weather which was unseasonbly cold. . .it snowed! We wanted a patio space but used it very little. House was well supplied with toiletries, essentials like paper products, cooking ingredients which was a plessant surprise. Walkable to downtown. . .in better weather.

This is a perfect location to see Santa Fe! Close to everything, and great place to come "home" to. There is everything you need to be comfortable. Except there was no coffee! We definitely will stay at this cute place again.

This charming casita was wonderfully secluded and quiet, yet I could walk or bike to many great shops and restaurants. The decor suggested the owner lives here part of the year. I really like her taste in furnishings and art. The bed and sofa were super- comfy. My one disappointment: the kiva fireplace was featured prominently in many pix along with images of a big stack of firewood. To my amazement the firewood was almost impossible to burn [I am quite experienced with wood fires]. I asked the property manager for kindling and was informed "this owner does not provide firewood." The check-in/out process is the most cumbersome I've encountered: requiring a stop at the property manager's office a mile away to pick up and drop off the keys. As I was on foot, I was very grateful they gave me a ride to the train station. Overall I'll definitely consider staying at Don Manuel again.

Our Casita had no air conditioning. The first night was difficult, but the weather cooled after that and it was fine.

The property was beautiful inside and out. We enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the birds in the cherry and apple trees. The location was perfect for getting everywhere we wanted to go - most of it within very easy walking distance. We loved it!

This casita was exactly what we were looking for. Walking distance from great coffee and food. Tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood. A full kitchen with all the things needed to cook our own food and a Kiva fireplace to relax next to at night. The staff was wonderful (thank you Carlos!) We can’t wait to return.

The property was fine but there are 3 steps in and out. Not easy for people with mobility issues.

The property is in a very crowded area of Santa Fe. We have a big truck and the streets to get to the house were extremely narrow. The patio is technically private, but we could not go outside without the dogs all around barking the moment they heard our voices. We tried several times to enjoy the patio, but the barking was so loud it wasn't relaxing at all. The biggest problem we had was the presence of ants. They were all over the bedroom and bathroom. We could not leave anything on the floor without ants being all over it. We found Raid under the sink and tried to spray them but it did not help. The second morning we woke up with ants in the bed. We were supposed to stay another day, but we turned in the key and left. I contacted the property manager about the ants and told him we were leaving. He said he would refund part of our money, but at this time that has not happened. It has been six days since he said that. I would not stay at this property again.

The property was dirty with mice droppings in the pots and pans, raccoon poop on the back patio, and streaks of feces on the outside patio walls. Raccoons came on the roof and climbed the apple tree in the patio area at night-- I counted 10 Raccoons at one time, a skunk was outside the bedroom window in the middle of the night on the second night-- I saw it through the window and smelt it. The property manager was not going to refund me-- said that he needed to make the money for the owner. Out of 6 nights I stayed for only 2-- I was only refunded 40% so those two nights of no sleep and being scared that raccoons would come into the unit. I lost a lot of money by trusting VRBO and Kokopeli Property Management. I deserved a FULL refund for the hassle, the fear I experience, and the rudeness of Charlie-- I won't be doing business with either again.

The property itself is as pictured. What was not disclosed was no A/C nor a reliable method to cool the place with temps 90+.. upon entering the place was very smokey as if someone burned the fireplace with no ventilation. Called after hours maintenance and they assured that Patrick would be called regarding the temps inside the casita. Never heard back even after several calls and emails. Besides the inside temps not comfortable for sleeping, Smoke smell inside, there were ants in bedroom(bed), bathroom and closet. Had to keep suitcases in the living room. Still no response from management. Had to escalate problems with VRBO. Only stayed one night out of 4. Do not recommend unless they get problems addressed-Especially with a management company that doesn’t correspond to problems yet still manages to collect $$$ in Mgmt fees.
