Depending if your room has been renovated recently or not you might either land in a king size bed with top notch bathroom or a tiny old bed with a mattress so old you feel like sleeping in a hamac… despite advertised in Hotel.com the gym and swimming pool are not included, you have to pay 9£ each access the pool) which we discovered as we were already in the pool as the hotel never mentioned it anywhere…

The place is so lovely and welcoming, staff are attentive and so friendly. The choice of food was excellent and what we ordered was delicious . The only thing that let it down a bit was the room wasn’t as clean as it could have been and the next day clean wasn’t done properly. We spoke to manager and she sorted it straight away. Will definitely stay again . Beautiful four poster bed was nice suprise. We joined the Best Western membership that lets you know about offers etc . All in all thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay.

This is listed as a 3-star hotel but it has 5 star heart. The hotel is a wee bit tired but it makes up for it with how clean and airy the rooms the restaurant and the bar area and the whole hotel is spotless. Many hotels list family-friendly but that really only means facilities not with this Hotel this is the best family-friendly I have ever been to. The management and the staff make this hotel the wee gem it is nothing too much bother and smiling faces greet you. This family gives them 5 stars and without a doubt, we will be back...Oh, and the brekkie and evening meals were fab and my grandson who is 4 didn't want to leave. Thank you all for making our stay so relaxed.

The hotel is a little tired.

The WiFi didn't work in my room. It was unstable and kept disconnecting. That alone means I would not stay here again. The breakfast however was great!

In need of upgrades. Leisure /pool area very dated in particular.
Food was okay. Staff friendly enough.

Internet was very poor. Kept losing signal

Would've helped to have info in the rooms about dining times - breakfast, lunch & dinner. Also info about using facilities like swimming pool and gym. And info on local taxis and local buses.

I booked this hotel a week in advance of my stay I booked a deluxe double room for two as my wife was doing business at the same time I was.
When I checked in a young man was on the desk , very polite he asked my name and started checking me in when a woman the size of a small village butted in.
She said she had put me in an easy access room.
When I got to the room I was discussed at the state of the room .
Even if I was disabled and I'm not the room was dirty the carpets are heavily stained.
The bathroom ? Well the shower only reaches 5 ft and to look in the mirror I could only see my tummy .
All the equipment was there if I was disabled.
Then I had to call my wife to ask her to book into another hotel .
When I went to ask for another room she grunted at me in a very nasty way and told me they were booked up .
Not forgetting ide booked this hotel a week prior.
The hotel looks amazing from outside but it's like stepping back into the eighties, very dated very dirty.
And the small village who delt with me could do with a cleaning job.
Not a very good front of door staff.
Would I recommend this hotel ? NO !
I've stayed in better youth hostels.
Be warned !

Bed very uncomfortable- suggested getting a new mattress. Some cobwebs in the room too - at the side of the headboard. Good location for seeing the area

Best wheelchair acessible hotel I have stayed at. From parking, entrance through to room . Wide corridors, wide doors and excellent adapted bathroom. Very comfortable room. Would stay here again.

The hotel is welcoming and clean, just lacked something this time. Was disappointed we had to pay extra to use the pool etc - bit cheeky to add a supplement for that, and yet advertise the facilities when searching for a rate. Not sure we will be back

Rooms very small and hot and stuffy. Heating on in middle of summer

Have stayed recently twice. One in June with my husband and most recently friends up from London on holiday.
We enjoyed our stay and so did our friends.
Both our rooms were lovely.
Staff were welcoming and helpful.
Found our rooms were very quiet and had good sleep.
Lovely breakfast with something to suit all tastes.
Only slight criticism was price of drink at the bar but only we don't often go to hotels so this might be normal.

Very pleasant staff.
Hotel in lovely location and grounds very well maintained.
Room comfortable but beds require to be looked at with view to replacing. One side was sagging and the other side had a spring at hip position which was very uncomfortable. Decor and carpets slightly worn and tired.
Unfortunately there was a medical incident at breakfast and there did not appear to be an in site first aider. Dining staff flustered and shaken, not knowing what to do. An ambulance was called by Reception and attended. Thankfully all was well in end.

The room was run down. Some things were easy fixes such as holes in the lampshades and grout coming off the floor as you walked on it. It was far too warm and we had to keep our window open the whole time listening to noise. The remote was grubby, there were stains in the bathroom and the wardrobe was dusty. If we had another choice at the time, we wouldnt have stayed. The staff was lovely though.

Stayed for 2 days in a small single room which had a tiny window with no view facing back of hotel. No double glazing which made room cold and drafty. Central heating was on a timer setting by hotel which came on for a short period in morning then in evening. Had to use a small electric fan heater that hotel left in cupboard at intervals and late at night/early morning as room was so cold. The quilt was average tog rating and there were no extra blankets to put on top to keep warm. The mattress on single bed was uncomfortable and never slept well on both nights. Bathroom was clean and shower over bath was excellent though with constant hot water. Service was exceptional despite hotel needing updated and refurbished. Overall, I rate the hotel 2 star.

Very impressed with how wonderful staff in this hotel, they are so helpful and extremely friendly, especially with kids. I was happy with my staying for 2 night and the kids enjoyed spending time in this hotel especially, they loved swimming. My only complain is the swimming pool service was not free, you have to pay for admission which was unexpected as other hotels offer this facility includes the price of the accommodation. The dinner has not had many choices but the taste, amount and quality of food and freshness were great and acceptable. I would love to use a spa service but unfortunately, we went on the weekend and there was no service of spa and massage therapy that requires a booking in advance. As for the room, I was disappointed a little bit as it did not look the same as advertised on the website, look quite old and dated and when we arrived the sofa was not prepared as promising but after informed the receptionist on the next day they were actively preparing sofa bed for us, this made much satisfaction to the customer that they have service mind and happy to service. Thank you very much for you lovely service.

Had a good time. Visited The Woodlands many times and never disappointed. Will definitely be back again.

i have used the Woodlands Hotel on several occasions and it is always clean and in good order, The rooms i book are large and very clean and comfortable. The food is pretty good but has a limited menu. the bar and restaurant area is very comfortable and the waiters are very good. if i have one gripe, it is that you now charge £5.00 to use the pool/sauna, where it was always included in your room rate. i dont know of any other hotel who does this. but as i said it is only a small gripe and will not deter me from staying hear again.

Very good trip to Scotland to celebrate a special 97 th birthday. The hotel was ideal for us to meet family there and have drinks and a meal together. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was very good although the evening menu was a little limited. Would stay there again .

No one on reception when we arrived. Had to walk round the hotel to find someone. You now have to pay to use their leisure suite. A bit of warning about that would have been nice.
Our breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. I think they need to do some customer service training though. All in all didn’t live up to its price tag. I would go to Carnoustie Golf Hotel in future.

We arrived at the Woodlands Hotel in Broughty Ferry, to a fabulous room/ suite.
Was very spacious. Cleanliness was 100% and the bathroom was gorgeous!
We stayed in the Wyldes suite, would highly recommend!
We had dinner down in the restaurant on Saturday night, was really nice.
We had room & Breakfast for 2 nights... Breakfast was lovely, self service/ buffet.
All the staff were really nice.

I booked the night away in this lovely hotel for my Nephew's Graduation. He went with his Girlfriend and three boys and couldn't fault the room or the food.

Had a wonderful stay at Woodlands in Broughty. Room was clean, hotel was quiet, restaurant and bar were great. The staff was super helpful and friendly. I’ll be back!

It’s a grand old building.
The rooms were a decent size but the beds were very uncomfortable. Lumpy pillows and mattress. Add to the fact even with the windows open the room was too hot. Poor nights sleep as a result
The bar was well stocked and we enjoyed a few drinks there.
Breakfast was very odd. A half buffet. The drinks had to be ordered including the fruit juice and hot drinks. The eggs were pre ordered as well so timing that along side getting the other food from the buffet was a skill most didn’t have.
The continental section was a bit drab.
The other galling part was being told you have to pay to use the leisure facilities. Surely part of booking into a hotel like this is the fact it has facilities. Lucky we hadn’t gone early to use them as originally planned so we didn’t have the time to find out if £5 a head was worth it or not.
All in all disappointing

Not impressed - key card failed twice in 2 days. Bed not made after first night nor towels replaced or sink cleaned. Building work directly outside room even though Do not Disturb sign on door.
