About this apartment rental

The historic Villa Lageder is located in the South Tyrolean mountain village of Sarnthein/Sarentino in the Sarntal Valley (17 km north of Bolzano) at an elevation of nearly 1,000 m. It was built in 1899 on old foundations and completely and luxuriously renovated from 2004 to 2006. The ski area is 15 minutes away. Shuttle bus to the ski area.

The 5 apartments can also be booked for larger groups and family gatherings.

Our property includes a large garden with mature trees, where our guests are warmly welcome. It offers seating and lounging areas on various levels, as well as a barbecue area.

For relaxation, there is a new wellness area with a sauna and Jacuzzi for our guests.

There is a connection between Villa Lageder and the Alois Lageder Winery, whose premium wines are exported all over the world. We would be happy to organize a wine testing and guided tour for you.

History of Villa Lageder: My grandfather Alois purchased this villa in 1915 for his family as a summer retreat. It seemed well-suited for this purpose, as he needed plenty of space for his seven children; it had a large garden, a wine cellar, and enough room in the barn for a carriage and horses. Back then, the journey to the Sarntal was made by carriage—a long ride along the old road down through the wild and romantic Talfer Gorge. Since that time, the villa has served as a summer home for generations of our family. I’m glad that, thanks to a careful renovation, we were able to preserve some of the old features: tiled stoves, cast-iron stoves, old wooden ceilings, vaulted ceilings, painted farmhouse chests, the simple softwood furniture, and other everyday objects from that era. Until the late 1940s, you still had to fetch water from the large wooden trough in front of the house, which was fed by a private spring—the spring is still there! I hope I’ve piqued your curiosity!

We were able to find and access the property with great ease and were delighted to find it pristine and ready for our holiday. The kitchen was immaculate and very well equipped with everything we needed. Plenty of glassware and crockery, a lovely oven, a big fridge and a dishwasher. The bedrooms had comfortable beds and an extra bed was provided for a late addition to our party. A large balcony with a table and chairs made for excellent outdoor space in addition to the large garden. Although there are several other apartments in the property, we were not disturbed by other residents and rarely heard or saw them. Beautiful views from the balcony and in a great central location meaning we could walk to all bars and shops. The WiFi was fairly reliable and the tv had access to all streaming services.Super bus services to Bolzano was available and a good location for many great hikes in the Dolomites.

The apartment was spotless, nicely furnished and conveniently located. However, the owner wanted to charge quite an amount extra for bedsheets and towels (we brought our own to avoid it). I do not find this fair, especially since the apartment was not really cheap and I do not think I was warned before I made the reservation.

The historical building is tastefully renovated, with plenty of space in the garden area. The Tannenblick apartment is extremely well set up for all your cooking needs. Rarely have I encountered such a great kitchen in a holiday apartment. The rest of the apartment was just as nice and equipped with comfortable furnishings. The apartment is well situated as it is really only a minute or two walk to the town and very easily accessible by car. It is very peaceful and quiet. The use of the sauna is a plus, though do be aware that it is not included in the price of the stay. The only minus was the lack of a stereo or radio. The owner greeted us with a smile and kind words. Would definitely recommend it to hikers, mountain bikers and people that do not want to be in the popular areas for tourism.
