My mom loves trains and caboose so I wanted her to be able to sleep in a caboose. She loved it.
Everything was great, but it would've been nice to have a few tea bags in the room. We aren't coffee drinkers, but it was very nice having the complimentary toiletries and disposable cups.

The caboose was old and on an incline. Bathroom toilet was for a preschooler. Front desk said let me know if this is Ok and when I said I didn’t like it she told me there was nothing she could do. Didn’t stay the 2 nights. would like a credit to my charge for the 2nd night

The quirkiness of the property is the draw for me. We checked in a little early but it wasn't a problem. We came on a super windy day,but carriage is warm and comfortable. Super clean, toiletries provided and loads of towels. There is even a hairdryer. It's far out,but loads of places to eat and shop within 15/20 minutes drive. It's so peaceful.
Nothing so far. Its clean, staff are friendly and take time to chat.

The beds aren't the most comfortable.

Breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. Having a full service restaurant on site was a bonus. Plenty of choices at breakfast lunch and dinner. Wait staff personable and efficient
Cannot think of any area for improvement. Our stay was in the offseason and we still had a great time with the on site petting zoo, playground and nearby train museum. Also friendly cat wanders property as welcome ambassador!

I loved the whole trip. If you are going for a train theme for little ones, this is it. You stay in a caboose car, which are snug quarters, but managable. Cute little petting zoo on premises. The Casey Jones Restaurant had great staff, helpful with things to do in the area, just very personable. The food was good comfort food and nice portion size. Did not leave hungry. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The front porch of the motel, has huge chairs where you could literally sit all day and take in the beautiful sights of the country side, while hearing the trains whistles, (strasburg), and local Amish family traveling by buggy down the roads. It was perfect distance to everything train related and even local farms to visit.

location
the ramp and stairs up to the caboose I was staying in, were like rotted wood and almost falling apart. other than that, it was decent and a good price. the petting zoo is cute too. the park was unavailable because it was a construction zone.

The staff was so helpful and sweet. Made the stay amazing. Clean and super cute! Would prefer a queen bed with 4 bunks as an option, BUT its only a night or two so it will do. Petting zoo is amazing and we can't wait for the new playground! Really loved it all. Just know you are staying in a caboose, like a real one. It is smaller the more people you have crammed into it. So travel lightly (person wise) or grab a few caboose. Do NOT expect a 5 Star hotel. This isn't it. This is a experience that you can't find anywhere. It is worth it for that alone. Especially for a train lover. My son has loved trains since he saw them and at 11 and he STILL looks forward to this trip that is now a yearly tradition. Perfect distance to CherryCrest Adventure Farm. Great restaurant on premises. Gift shop had SO MUCH stuff train and not train...lol
There was nothing we didn't love!

It was a great location, great to have the restaurant (refurbished dining car) on site. Great food selection and delicious food.
The air conditioner in the bedroom area did not seem to get very cool. To turn on the light over the bed, you had to stand on the bed to reach the cord to turn the light on.

The location was great.
My husband has a medical issue and not knowing what to expect, we weren't able to get a refund so that we could make other arrangements so our stay was stressful

Basically everything from the beautiful location, the cleanliness, friendliness of staff to the in-site restaurant!
No transportation to the Train Museum for those traveling without a vehicle

Very fun concept. Staff were wonderful. We stayed in the mailcar and it was two separate rooms with 2 bathrooms (one in each) which was perfect for our family. My toddler LOVED being able to stay in a train car. Overall it was a fun experience.
The rooms could use an update. The restaurant was also overwhelmed by the number of guests.

Fun, lots of 🚂 train/railroad realated stuff to do! Fantastic adventure sleeping in a caboose. Amazing scenery. Tough we were only the gawking outsiders the peak we did get at the Amish lifestyle was interesting.
The lack of availability of a queen bed, as two large adults sleeping in a double was uncomfortable and the beds themselves seemed to be about due for replacement. As an pretty straightlaced middle aged couple we did find the lack of things to do not related to trains or the Amish pretty limited. As some guidance as how to politely interact with the Amish may have been helpful.
