Food in the restaurant was good and staff in the breakfast area and the restaurant are friendly. However, I consider these to be extra services and it doesn’t improve the overall mark of our experience.
I travelled the world far and wide including some sketchy hostels in South East Asia and yet this is the first time I am leaving a review on booking.com.
When I book a hotel like Ibis/Novotel, I don’t expect luxury, but that they will offer some minimum standard that is consistent across their network. I am truly perplexed that Accor would keep this hotel in their portfolio and there is one main reason for that - the building doesn’t have any air-conditioning, which makes rooms very stuffy. We raised the issue with the hotel and they mentioned that there is only “air circulation” (or something to that extent), but even that system barely worked. On the first night, our room was very hot. After a while it cooled down because of the weather outside, but it was still very, very stuffy. We actually had to stay in the hotel for most of our trip as our kids were a bit sick, but the room wasn’t really fit for purpose because of the above mentioned reason and we still had to sneak out to the cafeteria downstairs. I would also say that the room wasn’t also too clean (vents dusty, carpet felt old/dirty), but this is a secondary issue as compared with the lack of aircon.
Location-wise, if you need to visit Excel, you will like it as it is literally next door. Personally, I found the entire neighbourhood to be completely soulless, but each to their own.
Overall, the experience with this hotel really spoiled our family trip and if it wasn’t for the fact that we had to stay in London due to a scheduled appointment at the Embassy, I would’ve cancelled our trip on the first day and went back home.

Location. Passport office 2 minute walk
Our room smelt stale. Left the window open while we went out for the afternoon. But that didn’t help. Reception staff were super and changed our room which was lovely.

I wanted a double room but was given a single room with extra bed.
I spoke with the reception to amend it and I was asked to pay more money instead for another room.
Then I asked for a refund but was denied
I will never ever use travelodge again.
I did not like the fact that I explained profusely about my dilemma but they did not consider my plight.

Perfect hotel, very clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds and amazing view over de docks. Airconditioning works perfect, very quiet location after a hectic day in the city center. There is a gym, we were the ‘lucky’ ones that slept underneath it (275) which means you hear the gym sometimes…this wasn’t as bad as we thought and they did inform us beforehand. Next to the gym there is a sauna with towels free to use. Breakfast we didn’t order there is lovely coffee shop Fratelli’s in walking distance that has very nice coffee and a good selection of sandwiches and fresh croissants. This was way cheaper than the hotel breakfast (€ 21,75 pp in August 2023 kids free though). Also there is a Tesco express that is open till 23.00 in case you need something. When taking the underground to the center you pass a Starbucks for your to go coffee.
Everyday we returned from the city our beds were made again, towels replaced and everything looked anew again, make sure you hang the tag ‘I’m out’ at your door.
I was a bit shocked at the amount of airplanes that fly low over the hotel, they either land or take off closeby. Luckily not the entire day but some days early morning. The location was apart from the occasional airplane very quiet, it is however quite some stops from the city center meaning transport costs could add up after a few days. We had no Oyster card since we were there 4 nights but I do recommend ordering one way before you travel to London it does save a lot or buy a day travel card for 15,50 that allows travel unlimited all day

The room was cleaned and neat. The food of this hôtel was delicious. The staffs were so nice. My friends and I enjoyed the view on the river on the terrace. There is also a gym and there is a luggage room to put our luggages if we come before 3PM.
The breakfast was expensive.

Breakfast selection was very good. My room had a massive leak so they moved me to another room which was upgraded.
When arrived person behind desk accused me of being in wrong hotel and when I got my phone out to show booking reference number he snatched it out my hand. It was a free for all no tables available and small area for a Breakfast buffet which made it very crammed!!
