Modern decor
The shower tray had a couple of chips but no big deal it’s was still clean so not really a negative just an observation:)

Very large and well appointed room and bathroom facilities
Disappointing cooked breakfast. a bit overdone and poor portion control. Service was exceptional. Maybe serve endless fresh coffee rather than speciality coffees e.g. latte. It was obviously produced by machine.

Lovely clean room, shower was great, air conditioning a bonus, liked the balcony, close to all amenities .
Breakfast could have had more options but was OK (More fruit and cereal options please) - probably an issue with Covid etc

Hotel was beautiful, staff friendly and helpful. Came early to use car park and do some shopping and got checked in well before we were supposed to. Staff member who checked us in was great, very welcoming g.
TV in our first room was broken, missed some dinner reservations waiting for someone to fix it, turns out it was an IT issue and couldn't be fixed so we were moved rooms. It was a pretty smooth transfer but our second room had a missing rainfall shower head that we didn't notice til we got back 5o the room later in the night, at which point we were both too tired to really care.

The bed , for a king bed I would exspect a king bed not two singles pushed together as the beds separated easily

The man on reception quite helpful
Customer service on arrival was awful think the girls name was Tiffany she came across as so obstructive when we were trying to ascertain certain things. Did not want to listen to us and cut us short during conversation. We advised we could check in early then advised on arrival that we couldn’t, was told to come back at 1430 to be told yet again room still not ready. As if the renovations were not bad enough with work men everywhere we were than advised that we would not have access to the restaurant or bar on the 11/4/24 now I am sure that the room rate must be based on the room and facilities at the hotel so why were we not offered a voucher or complimentary service for a different night for the inconvenience caused for.
They obviously run private events in their bar and restaurant and it’s win win for them guests paying to stay pay for this and event bookings pay too so they getting double the profit at the detriment of the hotel guest.
On the Thursday we noticed a leak from the hotel room ceiling straight down onto the bed where the pillow was and although when we reported it to reception they did sort this out a comment was made by the decorator as to how he assumed the issued had been fixed so obviously this had been an issue previously and they are still booking the room out we did think this as you could see the difference in colour of paint

The breakfast… the food was great but have the cooked breakfast as a buffet.

Room recently refurbished was nicely redecorated.
Staff were excellent in trying to run reception from a single desk and cope with guests.
Room recently refurbished was not cleaned properly with paint splashes up the wardrobe and the floor was not cleaned.
The shower when turned on the morning did not work at all.
Restaurant recently remodelled only served a basic breakfast which was not up to the standard that we have experienced previously.

The location is central and very convenient,
The bed was comfortable and the rooms were of good size.
Unfortunately on arrival we were told Booking.com had overbooked the rooms we had ordered. Subsequently I was downgraded to an inferior room which I understand cannot be helped. The downgraded room was very below average, parts of the wall were left unpainted, it looked very tatty, the sink tap was also leaky which sprayed water everywhere including onto unused toilet roll creating perfect environment for mould and other problems.
In addition the hotel was so full they could not accommodate our party of 2 for breakfast in the restaurant at any time other than 6.30am which was not ideal, but they could offer room service up until 9.30
Unfortunately, in the morning room service was ice cold amongst other problems, I assume probably because half the hotel was told to order breakfast room service and the times had not been staggered and it was delivered by one poor woman who for obvious reasons was having the worst morning trying to accommodate 17 room service breakfasts simultaneously.
Furthermore, and probably the worst part about the whole stay, came in the form of some unbelievably poor service from the man on night reception, whom in our opinion, simply couldn't care less about his job. His attitude was surly (to be polite) and so unwelcoming it stretched to the point of being almost hostile. Even asking for a drink at the bar was met with attitude as he was patently disinterested so much so it was actually uncomfortable.
My strongest recommendation would be to immediately review this employees work and behaviour and seriously reconsider having him continue in a front of house role. If this is him normally; I am absolutely certain I am not the first person to complain about this.
In the morning, I expressed my above concerns to whom I assume was a woman from management (I apologise did not catch name) She was very professional and a credit to this hotel. She acknowledged the above and made alternative arrangements for breakfast, with thanks.

Noisy fan that couldn’t be turned off, pillows uncomfy and breakfast was poor quality for the money.

Uncomfortable bed, general cleanliness of room poor,shower head constantly dripping, shower mixer controls damaged. Breakfast was ok but having to wait considerable time in a queue for use of toaster which was constantly tripping on power plugged into an extension cable instead of a general socket unacceptable.

The location of the hotel was very good
The room 339 had a total crack from one end to the other on the shower tray , it’s was black and dirty and a health and safety hazard .
The room had no view whatsoever was dark and dingy , the room shouldn’t have been let . Very dissatisfied

The bed was huge and very comfy. Breakfast was nice, plenty of choice. Lovely bar area. Rapid lifts.

Room wasn’t the cleanest, the paper coverings on the cups had tea stains on from the last occupants. The breakfast was not large, only one small slice of dried up bacon on a full English and the breakfast was underwhelming considering the price.

Location is great for everything in city centre. Complimentary bottle of local beer was a nice touch.
Hated the wooden floors. Felt cold and dirty on the feet. If slippers were provided it would be bearable but they weren't and they were not on the list of things that could be asked for. Pillows really flat and hard not comfortable at all did not get a good nights sleep because of this. Would have loved an easy chair in the bedroom, nowhere to sit comfortably except on the bed. No toilet brush, I hate to leave the toilet dirty when I leave...just a small thing but easy to solve.
