Staff very helpful friendly

The fire alarm was set off yet we did not no where to go

The location for the purposes was fine.

A heavy duvet was provided which was far too heavy for the time of year. Spent part of the night sleeping on top of it. The pillows were hard. Ventilation was very pour. Single glazed windows ment very little reduction in traffic noise. Toilet being flushed in room next door was so noisy. Stayed at this venue as it was a pub. Had only one ale available on tap and despite having two others on show these weren't available and would not be so during the duration of our stay. All you eat continental breakfast consisted of one croissant and one pastry being available for the two of us. The pub side of the venue really let our stay down. Would not recommend this venue.

The room was clean and serviceable, with a nice large bathroom and good shower. Staff were friendly and the pub had a nice atmosphere in the evening.

Unfortunately hot breakfast was not available in the morning due to a kitchen issue. We understand this wasn't the hotel's fault but was a disappointment as we had a long walk ahead of us and based on reviews the breakfast seemed to be the main appeal of the hotel. Room was fine but very small, you wouldn't want to stay more than one night.

The few older members of staff were pleasant and helpful, unlike the younger ones who were a touch surly without being rude. I suspect it was a reaction to the lack of cover in such a large pub/hotel. They all seemed to be running from reception to bar to restaurant "fire fighting"

Appeared to be very short of front of house staff Room 9 smelt musty, bathroom fine Appeared to be evidence of damp at ceiling level of long wall. Net curtains were "crusty" and discoloured at bottom. Staff accommodation on floor above and they seemed to be moving furniture/rearranging the room until 2am Fire alarm went off at 5ish, maybe 6am, staff response excellent. False alarm from oversensitive new system. Food very average, especially breakfast where we were there abound 8.30 and buffet bowl of plain yoghurt empty and not replenished, as was the mixed berries. I had poached eggs and mushrooms on a bun (hollandaise sauce not available) arrived only just warm, eggs hard, very few mushrooms, bun very chewy. I needed lots of brown sauce to make it palatable.
