Warkworth House Hotel

The food was of a high quality. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel felt a little tired. No heating in bathroom and it was quite noisy, due to being on the main road. The traffic started at around 6 am.

We liked the location and continental breakfast

The room was very warm and the radiators weren't even on. It made sleeping uncomfortable. There was a low chandelier that my husband kept hitting his head on. The ceilings were low so the chandelier was very poorly placed. The fabric lampshades were very dusty and the extractor fan in the bathroom was caked in dust. The bed also was a sprung mattress that was uncomfortable for me.

Lovely welcome and explanation about car parking. Room on first floor was pretty and providing us with fresh milk for the tea and coffee making facilities in the room was a real hit. The hotel is very well positioned in Warkworth with a short walk to the church, village shop and river walks. The breakfast menu was varied and the staff helpful albeit busy as the hotel was full for our first couple of nights.

The room was small for a twin meaning we had to squeeze between the bed and the corner of the room to actually get into the room. Our room faced the front of the Hotel looking onto the road which was noisy. Although not suffering with mobility problems we found getting in and out of the shower(above the bath) quite difficult because of the differing floor heights and feel the hotel should install a hand rail in the bathroom-they had provided a non slip mat for the bath itself. Although the breakfast menu was extensive, the buffet wasn’t and on one day when we arrived well within the allotted breakfast timings, the fruit bowls were empty. The full Northumbrian breakfast was undercooked and generally very disappointing. The hotel is ambitiously priced for the quality provided.
