The Woodhouse Hotel

The owners and staff are very welcoming, and they make every effort to ensure that their guests are satisfied with their rooms and with breakfast. I was very pleased with my clean and comfortable room and with the excellent breakfasts. The owners are also happy to share information about the surrounding area. There are bus stops very near this hotel, and these buses go as far as the Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station as well as Glasgow’s train station on Queen Street. From this hotel I was also able to walk to the nearby Viking exhibit and into the centre of town where there is a ferry terminal in addition to cafés, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other shops.

The only issue I had was with the shower head that I could not get to remain upright. However, the water pressure was good and the bathroom was very clean.

Easy parking and efficient check-in. Our room was comfortable, particularly the bed, and we enjoyed a lovely peaceful night's sleep. The breakfast service is very well organised and the cooked food was delicious. In truth, we would liked to have stayed an extra night or two to explore the area a bit more widely.

Location Ideal for us

Good location – just a short walk into Largs. The room was clean and comfortable.

The décor was slightly tired (as has been the case with many of the ‘budget’ hotels we had booked for overnight stops on our NC500 road trip). The door to the W.C. was ill-fitted and wouldn’t shut properly and some of the ceramic floor-tiles were cracked in places (what was it with the mirror over the wash-basin being stuck on top of another larger mirror)? Weird!
