The place was spacious and the grounds were beautiful and well kept
The fact that even though the rate included breakfast, the hosts told us that they are used to closing breakfast by 830am which was way to early for us. They did agree to provide breakfast up and til 9am, as an exception for us, but this was still too early. Most places offer breakfast up to 10am.
In addition, we found that we could NOT use the communal lounge area twice:
- the day we arrived we had to sit outside in the evening because the owner closed the lounge and locked it up because she was unwell and could not leave anyone else the key to lock up.
- on the last day, we were told we could not use the lounge area after we checked out because the owner was having a meeting with the bank. We thus had to go and sit at a nearby cafe to have our online meeting at 1030am to 12pm.
Another challenge was the attitude of the owner who seemed too inquisitive and chatty in a way that made us uncomfortable. Always asking if we are okay and explaining alot when we told her what our concerns were with the venue. We also realised that the owners were ease-dropping into our conversations. We could tell by the questions she asked us when she interacted with us. This made us feel uneasy.
We prefer to NOT book this venue the next time either of us are in Potchesfstroom.
