It’s a beautiful old building right in the centre of the town. Everything is only a few mins walk. It is quirky and a bit wonky which is to be expected due to its age. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome even though it was a busy bank holiday weekend.
The rooms are a little tired.

Lovely staff. Good food. Reasonable price. Very good area for walking. This is an old style, family run hotel. They take an interest in their guests and try to be helpful in meeting their needs. Their bar had just been included in The Daily Telegraph top 50 pubs. It's pretty much how bars used to be before pub chains appeared, and I liked it. I'd probably move into the hotel if I had the time and could afford it.
Sauce sachets in the restaurant which I repeatedly failed to open (but that's about as minor a criticism possible). Apparently there's a knack to it, but I haven't done the training.

Great location, lovely town. Good breakfast.
The building interiør needs a facelift.
We had a room on the top floor. Older buildings often have a problem with animals getting into the interiør walls, banging on the walls a few times scares them away, for a while. I am a spoilt brat who likes a soft bed, I found the bed here was hard and the pillows were flat and hard.
