The space:

Le Petit Kinkin (LPK) is a very convenient and comfortable old chalet-apartment, on the edge of the village of St Jean D'Aulps (known as Jean D'O). It has stunning views from a full length wooden balcony and a sunny, private terraced garden. There is a ski locker by the drive way and plenty of space for boots and jackets in the entrance hall. Off road parking available for 1 car.

Kitchen: The Kitchen has a range oven, 2 fridges, freezer, dishwasher and coffee machine. As a home from home it has all the cooking, crockery, glassware and cutlery you will need.
There is a hatch from the kitchen that opens onto a bar by the dining room table.

Dining: The Dining Room area is open to the Sitting Room but feels separate with its wooden floors and door out onto the balcony.
The table sits 6 very happily and has an extension for 8.

Sitting area: Beyond the Dining Room is the Lounge which has a slate fire-place, cozy sofas, tv and dvd player. The views look up to the meadows on L'Abbaye side of the mountain. There are also double doors at this end, out onto the balcony.

The Meadow room: Opening from the Sitting room is a double bedroom with en suite with a walk-in shower. The room looks up on to the local hillside.

The River room: Upstairs there is the second bedroom (double or twin) with a big window and sounds of the river Dranse. The view looks to the opposite hillside and the slopes of Le Grande Terche ski resort.

Narnia: The third bedroom is the family room with double or twin beds below a built-in mezzanine with a further single bed. Space for a child's bed/cot is also available.

The family bathroom is at the top of the stairs complete with bath/shower, loo and sink.

Winter: Skiing and snowboarding. The Portes du Soleil, with 200 lifts in total, ranks as the second largest ski areas in the world. Within the Portes du Soleil, the Morzine/Avoriaz area has the largest complex of ski-lifts - in two weeks you need never repeat yourself. Le Grande Terche is not linked to the rest of PdS so is often quieter, great for beginners or those looking for off piste. The chalet also has a lovely comfortable feel so perhaps on a white-out day nobody would blame you for just deciding to stay home.

Summer: The Morzine complex is the largest mountain-biking area in the Alps. Lifts open for bikes from the mid/end of June. One of the hardest via-ferrata climbing routes in France, at "The Elephant", is just 10 minutes' walk along the road past the ruined Abbey (there are easy routes too, of course). Chatel's high-speed zip wire covers over three kilometres, in two stages. There are also lots of beautiful hiking routes (information on alpine flowers can be provided); rafting; paint-balling; climbing; paragliding; kayaking (on the lake at Montriond, 10 minutes away); sailing (at Thonon-les-Bains, on Lake Geneva [Lac Leman], 20 minutes away); canyoning and other outdoor activities.
