Wake up to the ocean every day in this top-floor, 1-bedroom, 1-bath East End apartment with sweeping, unobstructed views of Casco Bay. From sunrise to sunset, the water is always in view from the living room, primary bedroom, and the expansive private deck perched high above Fort Allen Park.
The nearly forty-foot deck is the star of the show. Daily life here includes lobster boats hauling traps, sailboats tacking across the bay, and cruise ships passing by. On clear days, you can even spot four iconic lighthouses in the distance. Many guests spend more time on the deck than anywhere else.
Inside, the apartment blends historic charm with modern comfort. Hardwood floors run throughout, complemented by granite countertops, and a fully equipped kitchen with a natural gas stove and generous cabinet space. My partner and I went up to Portland for a quick getaway. We were going to a show at Thompson’s Point in South Portland on Friday night and decided to turn it into a weekend stay. I saw this property on VRBO and the pictures of the view looks stunning. We have been exploring Portland for the last year or so and this looked like another step in that direction. The views were exquisite, and we just loved the neighborhood where the property was located. Close enough to easily walk into town for all of the touristy things one might want to do. But also far enough away for some peace and quiet. We actually went to a local restaurant ““ on Congress Street in the area we were staying. The Front Room. Check it out if you stay in the area. Back to the property. Our host was both inviting and warm during our stay. This place is a gem. Perhaps we’ll get back to it at some point.

It really is the best view in Portland! We loved sitting on the balcony and enjoying the water. Dan was a great host and gave us helpful suggestions about what to do during our stay. Check In was easy, apartment was clean, Dan responded quickly. Would absolutely recommend!

The deck is amazing and it was nice to spend time out there.
The 2 bedrooms have 1 double bed in each room, which was not suitable for our older daughter and son to share. Dan was kind enough to let us know about the inflatable bed, which we used.
Dan is a friendly host with good suggestions for meals and things to do.
The apartment is spacious. The windows now have blinds (i read this from other reviews as being a problem).
Some of the dishes and the bathroom were not clean.
The A/C - 2 windows units in the bedrooms. The rest of the apartment is not air conditioned. the front bedroom's AC worked better than the middle room, but both were temperamental and not always cooling the place. Luckily it wasn't that hot for our stay.
We liked the proximity to town, ease of parking and the porch. But overall, we were disappointed in the value for the rental price. Especially the cleanliness where there is a cleaning fee charged.
