Interesting to learn of the history of the chateau, which was in a quiet but easily accessible place. Lot of interesting places to visit nearby. We had a very comfortable room and an excellent breakfast.

Stunning chateau and grounds. Great quiet location close to Azay. Amazing breakfast and so great to be told the history of the building too. Only stayed one night but will return for sure.

It’s enormous and fantastic. Really quite an experience. The hosts were very nice and helpful, and the breakfast was good (they actually had good coffee! A rarity in France).

The breakfast was excellent. The owners provided a lot of details about the history of the castle and are working very hard to maintain this historical property. The host helped us to carry our luggage to our room on the second floor.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Chateau du Gerfaut. Our hosts were charming and friendly and shared the history and background to the Chateau with us, which was really interesting. The surroundings were delightful and it was peaceful and quiet as it is located outside the town of Azay-le-Rideau. It would have been wonderful to be able to dine at the Chateau in the evening but we received some good local recommendations. Breakfast was superb. We are more than happy to recommend this location to other travellers and intend to stay there again ourselves.

There was nothing that we did not like but, as above, it would have been even better if there was a restaurant on-site.

Beautiful, recently modernised in the classic chateau style. Gracious hosts, beautiful setting and views, delightful village. Bounteous breakfast with home made yoghurt!

the property is beautiful, the history is interesting, and the host were wonderful.

Old fashioned, simple, quality. No gimmics.

No real grouses. We didn’t miss having French-only TV. We didn’t miss noisy air-conditioning, even in a record heat-wave. The room was cool. We didn’t miss not having somewhere to charge our tec gadgets; we briught our own plugs and cables. There werw plenty of easily accessible plugs to use.

I was met by the owner Aubier who was extremely helpful carrying my case and booking a local restaurant for my evening meal. The room was delightful with a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with a separate toilet. Breakfast the following morning was plentiful with apple juice, coffee, yogurt and fruit, croissants and home made jam. served by Sophie and Jacque, who speak excellent English and tell of the history of the Château.

There wasn’t anything that I did not like

Everything! the whole experience at chateau du Gerfaut were amazing. The bedrooms are really nice and well preserved. the restrooms were renovated and with good shower systems. the breakfast are precious, made with local food and served at their dinner room with a beautiful view. All this with a plus which are the owners, whom were very thoughtful and helped us all the time. I really enjoyed the experience

Beautiful château, looked after with great devotion and attention to detail by warm hosts. Comfortable and well worth the price!
