I must preface all my reviews of Sri Lankan hotels with this: most smaller hotels are family businesses whose ambition is not to be a mogul, but to make enough to get by. Hence, all the owners and workers are extremely polite and helpful. Their attitude is universally friendly and accommodating.
This hotle has large rooms, comfortable bed, nice bathroom, great pool. Restaurant serves a wide variety of dishes. Staff hard working.
Located in the countryside but transport is easily arranged. Not walkable, which is why the restaurant is so good serving food at any time of day. Also safari tours will pick up at Avonil.
They have upstairs and downstairs villas. They put me downstairs but I asked to look at the upstairs unit as they weren't very busy and accommodated my swap upstairs. The ceilings are higher and the room just feels more lux.

This was the best hotel we have stayed in so far in Sri Lanka (out of 5 so far). The beds and room were amazing, the pool area is well maintained. Every meal we ordered was high quality and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating.

The shower was variable in temperature but it was good that it was solar powered.
