The Anchorage

Booked for my boyfriend Stuart Murray He said food at the Anchorage was excellent. He had an dinner time snack and breakfast both excellent.

Again Stuart said that the single bedroom was very warm even with the radiator turned off and room had no opening window. Could have done with an extra shelf in the bathroom and some door hooks but bed was very comfortable.

The staff make this the best place to stay. They are all so welcoming and friendly. The location is also great and close to the coastline.

The rooms are a little dated but still clean and comfortable

My daughter and I stayed in the small double room which was perfect for us, the facilities were grand- mattress superb and everything clean and well ordered. The TV signal was a bit dodgy on the first night but the amazing Johnny was already on the case and supplied a boost- the historical thick walls aren't compatible with modern tech. We were there for adventure not TV but if it's your thing thanks to Johnny it now works a treat. The breakfast is absolutely sublime- I wish I had tried the kippers but the full scottish was too good to refuse. Incidentally, our taxi driver who was local told me The Anchorage is the best place to eat locally. We had an evening meal too which was amazing. The two best aspects of the hotel have to be Harley and Shelley- advocates for Troon, bright, positive and passionate about hospitality. We cannot wait to come back. We also dined at Scotts- nice but preferred The Anchorage. The Wee Hurrie- best mushy peas ever! We travelled via ferry to Isle of Arran- breathtaking.

Not an issue for us but management have given full disclosure that some areas are 'tired' but this is merely some cosmetic issues. The hotel is absolutely spotless.

The staff was exceptionally friendly. Made all the difference. Also best location possible for the ferry to the Isle of Arran.

The decor was tired and the windows were difficult to open and close. I had a room for disabled people that didn’t look that welcoming. The neighbourhood didn’t feel that safe.
