This was an awesome way to finish our 6 weeks on the road, whereby we stayed in a mixture of hotel and privately hosted accomodation. We were met by both Jim and Val and their “kids”, two very friendly Golden Retrievers. The apartment was brilliantly appointed and with lovely touches of local beers, a bottle of wine, a Whoopie Pie and a ready cook pizza provided. We appreciated being shown where everything was and how everything worked. Val made it clear that she was available at anytime for any queries we may have had. The laundry facilities were a bonus! The apartment was warm and cosy, and although above the owners residence, we were never aware of their presence. We would highly recommend Jim and Val’s place. It would have been very easy to stay on a little longer, but sadly our holiday was coming to an end.

We were on a trip for Fall colors. This place was amazing! It was well located for thr harbor and the mtns. The owners were accommodating and good tour guides too, Loved our stay!

Host was very thorough with her explanation of the apartment. Check out was an hour earlier than the usual 11:00. Didnt see any checkout time, so assumed 11:00 . Owner came up to clean at 10:30 am and advised us of the 10a.m. checkout. We apologized and left immediately.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Garden Apartment on our recent Maine visit. Val and Jim were superb hosts, and they took great care of us the whole time. The space was everything we needed - big kitchen area, an area to watch movies and tv, a big bedroom, and a bath with washer and dryer that saved us a couple days of clothes to pack! Their "greeting" committee of two dogs was the icing on the cake. Will ABSOLUTELY stay here again when we come back!

As host, James & Valerie were fantastic. They are pro-actively giving out suggestions (may not works for everyone, but it works for me). Just ask them and they give their honest opinion / suggestion. The bathroom is a bit too small for our liking, but it's clean. Location is great, beautiful garden, and very friendly / playful dogs (love them). The best for us is the kitchen. They load it with some freebies, even some beers (nice local Maine beers). Best kitchen experience for us for this type of lodging. Double thumbs up for James & Val. The only a small downside for us is the insects. Ok, I admit both me & my Son are borderline bug-phobia (we really don't like them, it's OK if we are awake, but kind of bother us a bit when we sleep). Luckily, mainly are very small flying insect that doesn't bite us (not mosquitos), so after a bit of bug hunting every night, we slept pretty sound :). Just to be clear, this is not the host's fault at all, it's our problem. Just a fair warning for other that has much bigger bug-phobia then us. Other than that, they are very friendly hosts. Good small morning chat with them. Highly recommend their place, I believe their place will works for most family who want to have relaxing get away around Portland Area. Overall, we are very glad we found their place and able to book it during high season for reasonable price.

Booked this location as part of our vacation to visit family and friends. The apartment was as described; clean, comfortable and spacious. The garden was beautiful presenting a serene setting. Jim and Val, the owners, were very friendly always making sure we had everything we needed. Their two beautiful golden retrievers we well behaved and so very friendly. Great location, convenient to Portland, and other points of interest. Would definitely stay there again.

We chose the Garden Apartment as our home base for a weekend of family events in Portland, culminating with a wedding on Peak's Island. It was an ideal spot to rest between our busy social events: quiet, easy to access, comfortable. Val and Jim were lovely hosts and have thought of everything a visitor could need- the apartment is generously and thoughtfully stocked with everything you might need. I would return and definitely will tell friends about this find!

I am bound to leave out something amazing, but please know this property and its hosts are truly incredible! We primarily engaged in activities in and around Portland and everything was an easy/noncomplicated drive from this location. The accommodations were spectular. There is a bedroom, which I found lovely and comfortable, but also separate and comfortable sleeping arrangements for my son and his friend (both teenagers). I loved the amount of seating options available without having to sit where we slept. The apartment has everything you could possibly need and things you did not even know you wanted, but were fantastic to have. As spectacular as the property is, the hosts were even more phenomenal. Communication was fantastic and they are so personable. Conversations with them were a pure joy of both the teenagers and me. They have created such a enjoyable, safe, and pleasant environment. Also, the number of recommendations for all types of activities were so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for everything!

James and Valerie were such gracious and generous hosts. They took the time to explain how to use the tv remotes and show us where everything was. The location was easy to find. The accommodations were clean and had everything we needed. Could have stayed longer!

We were met by Jim who helped carry our luggage upstairs and then met Val and "The Puppies", Jack & Peanut. They showed us around the property and were so welcoming that we spent a couple afternoons just visiting with them. This was the first time we really felt like we were on a vacation. Truly relaxing and enjoyable. Val & Jim were the perfect hosts and so much fun!!

We had the best stay at Jim and Val’s-they go out of their way to make sure their guests feel comfortable and have what they need, and we so appreciated all the suggestions for where to eat and what to do while we visited Portland for the first time. The bed was very comfortable, we enjoyed the full kitchen and Val was quick to respond to any texts. Be aware: if you have any issues with stairs you may have trouble coming and going here, as the unit is above the garage and the stairs are a little steep. The two golden retrievers greeted us each time we arrived or left and they are both sweet and lively and we loved seeing them. Jim and Val are just the best, so personable, and we would definitely stay here again.

We are planning on booking this spot again Val & Jim are very hospitable and provide quick answers to issues like where are the best places to visit, what is in season for seafood, etc. Just need to mention the steep stairway to the apartment with a sturdy rail.

Val and Jim's apartment was clean, quiet and cozy. Very kind people who were very hospitable and offered many amenities above your average Vrbo and Airbnb, such as washing machine and dryer, with soap, coffee, tea, water and a complimentary local favorite dessert, the whoopie pie. I really appreciated everything, very sweet people. I highly recommend this apartment and would definitely stay there again, when in the area.

Hosts were very accommodating and friendly, gave us terrific directions and had even shoveled the stoop for us before we arrived. Plenty of room to park and the apartment was beautiful and well appointed. They provided a pack and play for our baby and had plenty of amenities. Everything was clean, spacious, and comfortable and hosts were quick to help us with anything, even shared some cooking oil with us within minutes when I texted that we forgot ours. We’re excited to stay again. Don’t hesitate to book!

A quite and clean apartment in a nice neighborhood yet still accessible to the highway and supermarket. The bed was very comfortable. Val and Mike greeted me when I checked in and gave a full tour of the apartment. I felt immediately comfortable with them, especially while traveling alone! They were very helpful in giving me restaurant suggestions! Their communication was great! I would absolutely stay their again!

We had a good time at this upstairs apartment. Everything you would need is on the premises. The hosts were very friendly and always available for any questions we may have had. Quiet neighborhood but close to many outdoor adventures. We look forward to staying there again.

It’s listed as a garden apartment. There is a beautiful garden but the apartment is the second story over the garage and a steep narrow staircase to get to it. Once inside it’s very nice. Wi-Fi is weak in the living room also

My wife and I had a wonderful extended visit to Maine and staying at Val and Jim's Falmouth apartment was just what we needed. It was clean, quiet, cozy and only minutes from Portland and all it has to offer. Val and Jim went out of their way every day to be sure we were well taken care of. We will certainly be back.

When we arrived, Val was there to greet us and provided a short tour of the apartment! The place was clean and well stocked! Jim and Val were absolutely wonderful hosts! They provided us with excellent suggestions re: where to eat and things to see. They are beautiful people, their puppies are cute, and the place was just so nice. Val and Jim have a lovely property, and we enjoyed their hospitality. The apartment had every amenity we needed, was neat and tidy, and they had many brochures about things to do in the area. We especially liked the whoopie pies that they left for us in the refrigerator. We hope to return again next year.

What a great experience! Val & Jim are so welcoming and generous with many extras. After a long travel day & squeezing in some beach time we really appreciated the “emergency pizza” & a lovely bottle of wine provided by our hosts. Slept like a baby in the comfortable bed with nice crisp sheets. Kitchen is very well stocked. Large windows with lovely garden view. So peaceful to return “home” to after a day of sightseeing. Great location and unbelievable value! Thank you Val & Jim!
