About this apartment rental
Georgina’s Place is a simple, architect designed, open plan cedar house on stilts. It is surrounded on two sides by a 3m wide shaded deck looking out onto tranquil bushland and is only 20 short paces down to Brown’s Beach. The single space interior has a queen bed and separate bunk, so is ideal for accommodating a couple or small family. The bathroom is off the back door but still under the main roof.
A fully kitted out kitchen with oven, fridge, cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses make this comfortable self-catering accommodation.
Large windows give you a constant view of the ever-changing colours, light and climate that characterise this beachside location. But what is really special about this beachside location is that is nestled in the Australian bush, with no neighbours in sight, visited only by wildlife, such as the occasional kangaroo that hops by at dusk.
The wide deck is great for waking up over breakfast coffee, having a meal at anytime of the day, or drinking your favourite cocktail watching the sunset.
Kangaroo Island is gorgeous all year round and changes with the seasons. Brisk walks along the beach or exploring the many sites in the area during the day, and then relaxing over a leisurely dinner with the warmth of the wood fired heater are hard to beat.

• Kitchen with fridge, gas stovetop and electric oven, all utensils, cutlery, crockery, glasses, kettle, coffee plunger and teapot
• TV, selection of books and some old fashioned games such as Scrabble and Monopoly
• Bathroom with shower off the back door but still under the same roof.
• All bed linen and towels provided
• Front porch for outdoor dining or sitting with your morning coffee
• Large slow combustion heater (wood supplied at no additional charge but guest supplies are always welcome!)
• Baby cot & feeding stool (no additional charge - just let us know your requirements)

Lovely open-plan area and easy access to a very private beach. Very well-appointed kitchen, and the sofas were very comfortable. Huge deck outside for watching the sunset.The bathroom was outside, but on the main verandah and undercover (may be cold going out in there in winter - perhaps a heater?). The shower could do with a curtain, as the floor can get quite wet, and we couldn't find a mop to dry the floor. A cotton blanket for the bed would be nice as it was quite warm during our stay (doona too much and sheet not enough).Although hidden, it was quite close to the main road and was noisy during the day but very quiet at night.

Cabin stayed warm over the cooler nights, good base to see the rest of the island. The beach was very quiet, I only saw a handful of people during the 6 day stay.

The beach views are pretty fantastic, but the "seclusion" is a little over-sold. There is a neighbouring caravan very visible from the house, the noise from the road is very audible, & the beach is accessible to the public. At the time of booking, it was not clear that this was a studio property (rather than 1 bedroom), and that the bathroom was only accessible outside the house with a key. The listing now appears accurate, but had we known, we wouldn't have booked. The outside bathroom makes late night toilet/shower visits particularly uninviting. It also has a broken and unsealed exhaust fan so it was full of dead insects by the end of the trip.The blinds in the house are sheer. Not ideal for sleeping, or for night-time privacy. Bring a sleep mask. The airconditioner is absolutely filthy. We had issues with the wood heater (kept blowing out), so we turned on the split system. It almost immediately started blowing very moist and dank smelling air, and we could see the inside of it was covered in mould. It needs a major clean. Frustrating to be left with 0 functional heater options, especially in such a large and uninsulated space.The "revegetation project" in the driveway means that you have to park your car 20m away from the house, which makes packing and unpacking frustrating. Not sure why the driveway was revegetated, and nothing else. If you intend on bringing an EV and charging it, you'll need a 25M extension cable to reach the power point in the bathroom.
