Absolutely beautiful hostel, really enjoyed my stay. Everything went well and the owner was very friendly and helpful. I self check in and there wasn’t any problem. I was staying in the 9 mixed room and I really appreciated the curtain that you have to have a little bit of privacy. Hope I will be back soon!

Really homey and super welcoming. Loved the other guests and also the staff/volunteers. Great location for more adventure-y sport/activities. Burger/Pizza nights really let you meet other people as well as locals. Also really clean.

This is a great hostel! If you are looking for a hostel in Madeira STAY HERE. super friendly, clean, cute. Fabulous pizza night. Quiet at night. Fabulous hostel. About 20 min from airport. Next to a good bar/restaurant in a small village with trail running options. Small supermarket in village and bakery with great coffee. Surfing nearby and marine pool. We did a GREAT walk - the best of our trip from the hostel to machico (15km) - steep uphill to start then easy walking along coast and levadas. Definitely do this! Bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable! We had room 1 - ensuite with private terrace and good views. Shared area nice. Our host Ines was wonderful and made sure everyone was invited to the bar each night.

This is one of those SPECIAL, small, cosy hostels that you leave feeling like you are leaving family behind. Nothing bad. The kitchen is a bit small but that's it

- really cool concept - hostel is designed in a way that you can easily socialize - pizza night is awesome - staff is really helpful - a pipa restaurant nearby - excellent location (also for those who rely on public transport) - very nice atmosphere overall

Going to this hostel feels like a homecoming after leaving home for holidays. The first thing you'll notice upon arrival is that you have to take your shoes off when you go inside. After that you'll either be welcomed by someone of the staff or other guests, who most likely are there for the same as you will be: adventure, hikes around the region, chilling at night. Jaca organizes various events such as Burger Mondays and Pizza Fridays which is attended by more than just the hostel guests, and has contacts for surf lessons, paragliding and more. For me it was an instant match with both staff and guests, everyone just wants to have fun and make the best possible experience together during the stay. I have no doubts where to stay when I go back to Madeira, which is just a matter of if, but when.

Public transport connections are limited, especially during the weekend. If you do not plan on renting a car, make sure to keep this in mind when planning activities outside of Porto da Cruz on Saturdays and Sundays.

Such a friendly atmosphere from the moment you walk in. I think one of the best beers I've ever had? Super clean. Beds were comfy. Everybody staying there was so sweet and chatty, family vibes. The scenery nearby was beautiful. There are walks you can go on without having a car as well. Relaxed staff who made everything so easy (the surfing lessons through the hostel are great too!).

I left on Friday before I could try pizza night 😓 Also it would be useful to have maybe one or two mirrors somewhere in the rooms or corridors in case you want to put your contact lenses in or something when the bathroom is busy.

absolutely everything - such a friendly environment in the most beautiful location. despite being so affordable it’s super super clean and it has everything u need. the hostel also offers burger/pizza nights as well as surf and yoga lessons :)

The atmosphere was quite good at the hostel. The people running it are very hospitable which sets the bar and enables the other guests. They provide opportunities for guests in terms of activities and shared meals. There is a large living room where it is possible to socialize. Kitchen has lots of equipment to make your own food. There is an outdoors patio. Restaurant next door.

The services they provide are quite pricey. Only two bathrooms. Would be nice if laundry was included, even if only one wash per week or something.

Owners were lovely, even prepared Xmas dinner for us all. The pizza and burger nights were a huge plus.

great location at the start of many trails, staff was awesome and had a lot planned (yoga, surfing, Xmas dinner, pizza night etc). great people stopped by here and easy to meet people. 100% would recommend

there should be blinds on the windows (private room overlooking the street). the local church has bells ringing at odd times (2-5am)

I liked absolutelly everyhing! Very nice and helpfull people, beautiful place with comfortable common space, cozy attic dorm, super tarrace with nice view. Pizza friday event was great. I spent there great time!

Great Hostel, very friendly people and warm atmosphere! Location is perfect. Honestly, I wouldn't know what to improve. If I come back, I'll definately stay there again.

Jaca hostel has some really good vibes making you feel straight at home. unfortunately I had to miss the pizza night but will come back another time hopefully. I also liked the fact that you could have some privacy in the beds with the curtains in case you want to.

2 really small bathrooms for everyone.. it would have be nice if there would be at least a separate toilet. now you had to wait sometimes for people in the shower to go to the toilet.

The Place, the location The staff- warm and available Their nights (pizza night) The beds ! Big and so comfortable Their goodies (love my new T-shirt with organic cotton!)

Some little details : there were stains on our towels. They could put a bigger fridge for storage, and update their welcome document so the prices would be accurate

Isabella, Michely, Ricardo, Joaquima were all very friendly. I nice hike with isabelina and Karla. Pizza night was a great experience. Next door there us pica rest. Top local food. Thanks to all of u .

I am sure that all backpackers would love that place! Lovely common space and patio. Helpful and cheerful staff. Room and bathroom was rather small but still nice and all needed was there. There is a great restaurant next door which we highly recommend too.

Opening room doors by a code wasn't my favourite, we needed to try few times each time
