Perfect house - big enough for two families. Great location near West End. Property manager was really helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Our family of 6– ages 10 to 78–spent 2 weeks at Chillax. It is conveniently located to the West End and a bit farther down the road is West Bay. Sandy Beach is very close just across the main road. This was our first visit to Roatan—a beautiful island. The house worked perfectly for us. Our kids had the three spacious bedrooms and baths in the main house and we enjoyed the separate house with two bedrooms and bath a few steps away—all air conditioned. We prepared several meals at home in the well equipped kitchen. The pool provided many fun times and a cooling end to a day out.
We chose to rent a car for the two weeks (ask for Alex, he’s great to work with) instead of depending on two taxis to get around. If you are a bit adventurous and not a timid driver we would recommend that—some side roads look like driveways but the mostly handmade signs will give you an idea what is located on them. Doing a bit of research helps. We discovered many restaurants as well as resorts whose beautiful beaches were available to the public after a drink or a meal. We found everyone to be very friendly. Seeing the island from the water is a must whether it is a private charter or with a group—it gives you a different perspective and shows the island’s true beauty. We took a snorkeling trip with a barbecue lunch prepared and a separate fishing trip.
The few issues/questions that arose were quickly addressed by Laura. We enjoyed our annual family spring trip and think you will as well at Chillax.

We were a group of six people. We had plenty of space. The kitchen is big and we cooked several meals, including Thanksgiving dinner (turkeys were available at the grocery store). We also had two rental cars and there was ample parking at the house.
The swimming pool is lovely. So are the flowers which attract hummingbirds.
We all had a great time.

Chillax Roatan is a great place, the property manager Laura was terrific, everybody was very helpful. The owners, Rudy & Antje are very nice people, I had problems with my original travel dates after paying for everything, the owners worked with me and was able to accommodate the dates that I was able to travel. I would definitely stay again on my next visit to see myy family.

Family Get Away
My family joined me for a week while I was on the island for some scuba training. This property worked out great for us. There were 6 of us, so the home was large enough where we each had plenty of space to relax. My wife and I stayed in the apartment out back, which was nice for even more space and comfort. We had most of our meals at the house, and the kitchen and indoor/outdoor eating areas were perfect. We did some swimming, tanning, and grilling out by the pool, and played some of the board games inside on the off chance it rained.
The property manager, Laura, was wonderful. She is very prompt with any needs or questions you might have. The landscaper that might stop by is also very nice, he gave my mother-in-law some fresh coconuts and limes from the trees on property.
This is my third time to the island, and I knew my family wanted to head to a variety of places, so we rented a large SUV. The property is up on a hill with some partial water views of the north shore, so the driveway is on the steeper side. For this property, but really for Roatan in general, I would not recommend renting a tiny, low to the ground car. Roads on the island can have some pretty big pot holes here and there. We went to the Island Dive Center, Daniel Johnson' Monkey and Sloth Hang Out, Eldon's Supermarket, Roatan Brewing Company, South Shore Ziplines, The Rum Factory, Flowers Bay, West Bay, West End, etc, so the rental SUV was perfect for us. If you are traveling around the island less, you can certainly cab it or Laura can set you up with some transportation. All the places I mentioned are probably $30USD or less with the longest ride being about 30 mins,
Hopefully, some of this info was helpful. Overall, my family and I had a great time, and I would definitely recommend staying here f you come to Roatan! Have fun!

Wonderful place to stay in Roatan
We enjoyed staying at Chillax. The owner’s were easy to work with and communicated well. Laura met us at the home for things we needed to know and was a wealth of knowledge. She had arranged airport pickups for us.
Home was well equipped. They provided drinking water. The patios were large and covered, we did have some rain so we enjoyed the coverings that allowed us to sit outside.
Views of surrounding areas and greenery were wonderful and very tropical.
Beds were very comfortable. Home was very clean and well kept.
It was a short drive to West End. We used taxis to get around.
We stayed ten nights. There were four of us staying. The home has plenty of room for a larger family.

Way above expectations! They thought of everything. We have stayed at more than 20 VRBO properties in Roatan and this was top notch. Extensive kitchen, thick nice towels and plenty of them, washer/dryer, great wifi, great mattresses/pillows/sheets, very clean. Great pool, beautiful grounds. There are even Bluetooth speakers around to enjoy your own music at the pool. Wonderful indoor/outdoor living layout, just want you want on an Island vacation. Everything was in top shape (not always the case in Roatan). Perfect for our kids. Very close drive to West End/Bay. Car rentals in Roatan are inexpensive. Roatan was amazing as always. Laura the property manager was there to meet us. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the property and Island in general. Not intrusive at all. She was back at the end of our trip to collect keys, etc, perfect. Great week at a wonderful home. Thank you, we will be back soon!

This was the best vacation and Chillax Roatan was a big part of it. We stayed in the main house which has 3 bedrooms. There is an attached guest house with 2 additional bedrooms for larger families.
All 3 bedrooms have an air conditioning unit which was a blessing for this family used to having central air! Each bedroom also had their own bathroom. Our master bedroom had a wonderful balcony with a table and several chairs where we enjoyed a drink or two while watching the sunset. The sun does set at 6:30 pm which was something to get used to. The downstairs lanai is where we had breakfast and coffee each morning. There is a large table with enough room for 8 with a fan overhead. The pool, hammock and lounge chairs were huge hits and where we spent any daylight hours when we weren't in town. The washer and dryer came in handy since we stayed 2 weeks but did not want to travel with 2 weeks worth of clothing.
The house is close to Gibson Bight Marina which is where my husband and sister-in-law jogged to the beach each morning. There are hills and not much room to walk so for most ventures we opted to take a taxi. We would stand at the end of the driveway and most times waited under a minute for one to stop and take us to our destination. Make sure you negotiate a price ahead of time. We paid 30 lempira per person (~$1.25 USD) for a ride from Chillax to West End which is where we spent most of our time. We became scuba certified, snorkeled and dived, swam with dolphins, learned to make chocolate, shopped and ate local cuisine. PS - you have to try a Monkey Lala from Sundowner's!
We rented a mid-size car for a couple days to travel to other parts of the island. I would suggest an SUV if you were to rent as some of the roads are rough. We then went zip lining, jet skiing and met and handled sloths, birds and monkeys.
At the end of every busy, wonderful, tiring day, we came back to Chillax which was perfectly situated. Far enough away to be completely peaceful and secluded but close enough to get to so many wonderful things in no time.
Property managers Ton and Zilla answered our many questions and gave us many suggestions to make our trip stress-free and enjoyable. Whenever we reached out they responded immediately.
Thanks to all for making this a trip of a lifetime for our family. We definitely want to return and know we will look no further for accommodations as Chillax Roatan was perfect!

We spent a week at Chillax Roatan and it was an amazing experience. The highlights:
- Private pool that was just the right size
- Wildlife everywhere, hummingbirds, island birds and lizards all around the property. Palm trees, a lemon tree, banana tree and lime bush all on premises.
- Very comfortable beds. (This is the type of underrated thing which can ruin the best of vacations if the mattress is skimped on.)
- 5 minutes from West End, a quintessential Caribbean town with a good mix of locals and tourists (lots of great dining options but not the Caribbean Disneyland feel you get in West Bay.)
- Plenty to do. Our family trip included zip lines, sloths, a glass bottom boat tour, snorkeling and a 2 hr lesson at the chocolate factory.
This is the place for you if: you like authentic experiences that allow for some luxuries (namely the pool and home facilities).
Things to be aware of: Roatan is part of Honduras, in the sense that Hawaii is part of the US. There is overlap in terms of government/currency etc. But the island has its own unique culture. As such fears for safety that exist on the mainland don’t exist on the island. It’s important to separate the 2. That said we didn’t wear fancy jewelry, left the engagement ring at home and brought limited cash out to town along with the credit and debit cards. At no time did we feel unsafe, but preferred to keep a low profile.
We leveraged taxis to and from West End. You can grab a cab at the end of the driveway (didn’t ever have to wait more than 5 minutes) and for $1 per person you get a ride into town. Getting back to the house takes some ability to speak in broken Spanish (tell the driver to go towards Gibson Bay etc). If you were to come with a large group (something we’d love to do upon return) it would make sense to rent a car. Also our children were 5 and 7. Much younger and the logistics may have become difficult, but we had no issues.
Bottom line is if you like a bit of relaxed adventure, an ability to become entrenched for a time with the culture with where you are staying and having the Caribbean world for you at your fingertips with just a little work this is the place for you.

Amazing villa on the top hill with ocean`s view
It were unforgettable 5 days at Chillax Roatan villa! This villa located at hill top overlooking the ocean, great location! The house and everything is very well-groomed and extremely comfortable. Everything is made in good style and incredibly with comfort. A lot of the palms around property, the pool made with fall and big deck - excellent vacation`s time is guaranteed. I must to say that such comfort and style you can see very seldom. Rudy - many thanks for a great holiday on your amazing villa!

Great House and Location
When I visited Chillax Roatan I had a great time. The house is located on a hill in seemingly in the perfect spot. There was a pool right out in front, from the master bedroom you have a spectacular view of the ocean, the house is close enough to the Sandy Bay beach, that it’s within walking distance, but also far enough away from the road that you have privacy. The house’s driveway is also by the main road so going places is easy as taxis are constantly passing by. The kitchen is also fully equipped for any cooking needs. The house additionally has a great air conditioning system. The house is very clean and because it is fenced in with a great security system you feel safe and have great privacy, as there are no other houses on the hill.

Must visit
We were 3 couples from Europe that stayed at Chillax Roatan in November. The booking process was very easy and smooth as the owners, Antje and Rudy, were available to answer all of our questions right away. The property managers Ton and Zilla contacted us right after we completed our booking to work with us on all logistics.
After 4 flights from Europe we finally arrived on the island. We were very pleased that Marty, the driver, was waiting for us at the airport as promised.
Ton and Zilla offered to buy our groceries, but we decided to do our own shopping so that we can experience the island on our own. Marty took us to a grocery store and patiently waited for an hour while we looked around the store.
When we arrived at the house we were pleasantly surprised that the house looks much better than on the pictures. The pictures were taken two centuries ago when the Brits still owned the island. Today, Chillax has been completely renovated and all the furniture is modern and with clean lines. The bathrooms have been completely renovated and are very modern. Even the ceiling fans have been replaced with virtually silent ones that move tons of air without even making a whisper.
After we arrived Ton and Zilla took the time to tell us about the island and its attractions, show us how to use the AC and the house alarm, and gave us a mobile phone with all the numbers we needed.
We found everything we needed in the house- a fully stocked kitchen, all bathroom and pool towels one could possibly need, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. They even provided a set of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel for each of us. Very nice indeed!
The house was cleaned before we arrived. Everything worked as expected. We absolutely loved the pool and lingered it in the morning and in the afternoon before going out to town. A very spacious and completely private villa that is convenient to both the night life of West End and the stunning beach of West Bay. The owners had recommended checking out the local beach by the Tranquil Seas resort and we quite enjoyed it for a nice evening walk and dinner/drinks at the Sunken Fish.
We had a fantastic time and loved staying at Chillax Roatan. Would love to come back in the hopefully not so distant future.

We’ll come back
We booked Chillax a couple of months ago and stayed there this past November. There were 6 of us, 3 couples staying in our own bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
Antje and Rudy, the owners of this amazing villa, were easy to reach. They answered all of our questions before and after we booked our holiday. The property managers, Ton and Zilla, also emailed us right away and arranged the arrival logistics (Marty, the driver, picked us right from the arrival hall of the airport).
Ton and Zilla were waiting for us at the house. They spent about an hour with us, answering our questions and giving us tips on where to go and what to do on the island. They also gave us a mobile phone with all the numbers we needed to contact them, contact Marty the driver, etc.

Perfect for Family!
We are a family of four and this property proved perfect for us during our first stay in Roatan. We enjoyed staying in the Sandy Bay area because of the quiet location and nearby beach, but were close enough to West End to be there within a few minute drive. The master suite was beautiful and it was wonderful having AC in all of the bedrooms. The kitchen was well supplied and was great for cooking meals when we felt like staying in after a long day. The view was breathtaking-not real close to the water but a good enough view to take in every morning on the upper balcony. Having beach towels, W/D, games, etc made packing much simpler!
We can't say enough about Chillax. Ton and Zilla, the property managers, made sure we had all our questions answered prior to our stay. Although we rented a car since it was our first time visiting, we won't be next visit since the taxi service is so easy and parking is difficult to come by in town. We will definitely be returning to this property!

Great time at Chillax!
Our group of 3 adults and two kids (and some guests, here and there) had a great time over our 2 week stay. This is an older house, but big and open with lots of outdoor space to relax. Its on a big, private lot and pretty gardens and palm trees, you cannot see any other homes unless up on the second floor balcony, and they are far away. Decent pool, good security, very comfy beds, and nice showers. Property managers were excellent and live close by. We rented a car to explore the island and to buy groceries, but you could get away with just taking taxi and water taxi from West End to West Bay if you are happy to just hang out on the west side. A little noisy, being close to the road, but good location otherwise. Short walk to get out to the Sandy bay beach and restaurants. Solid 4.5 stars, I would likely try to rent it again if we return.

Beautiful place!! The house is well laid out and the outside spaces are fantastic.
My family and I had a wonderful time here. We were given a lot of great and much needed information about the island upon our arrival. The house was beautiful and very nicely furnished. The kitchen was well equipped and we were easily able to cook many of our meals. The grounds and pool were very well kept up. We stayed outside all day, enjoying the rain from a very spacious covered patio and the sun in the pool and on the deck.
The location was great and had beautiful views. We would highly recommend a stay.

Beautiful villa on a beautiful island
We stayed at the villa with our two teenaged children. It is a wonderful villa tucked away and very private but close enough to be able to pop out for supper if you don't want to cook. The villa is really well set up with spacious super comfy bedrooms. My daughters loved having a massive bed and en-suite each. The master suite has a view that makes you just need to sit down with a cold beer and watch the sun set over the sea. Thank you Rudy for being so helpful before we arrived and to Ton and Zilla for all your help while we there. I could happily move in and stay forever! Roatan is a beautiful friendly island. We loved the scuba diving, zip wires, paddle boarding and east coast adventures! Not to mention the sloth cuddles. Favourite family holiday so far!

Chillax is a fantastic rental property. The entire rental experience was positive. The owners and property managers are engaged and eager to work with you. They answered every question we had. They made us feel comfortable and welcomed.
In short, if you want a family style home that's less than a 10 minute drive from West End with a pool and a view, this is your place. We didn't need to rent a car, as the taxis were easy enough. Though we will rent a car for a day on next visit to get to the east side of the island on our own.

Amazing Home and Amazing Vacation!
Chillax is everything that you dream will it be, and it was the pillar of what my family of 5 calls one of favorite vacations of all time. The pictures are very accurate and the property is absolutely lovely. We arrived in Roatan on a direct flight from Atlanta, and the driver that the house managers (Ton & Zilla) arranged for us met us curbside at the airport. 15 minutes later we were pulling into the gated driveway and met by Ton & Zilla who gave us a thorough orientation of the home and property.
We went into West End for dinner the first night and enjoyed a wonderful meal at "The Landing" (wonderful ceviche) overlooking Half Moon Bay and beautiful sunset. We thought about a renting a car for our stay but quickly found that it was much easier / faster / less-expensive to use the taxi system. We rarely waited more than 90 seconds at the base of the driveway to get a cab (called "colectivos"), and it was an easy ride into West End for $1.50 USD (30 Lempira) / person. We stopped in the PetroSUN gas station just before town and used their ATM machine which we found to be the easiest and most secure machine in town.
Chillax has a generously-sized and equipped kitchen which made it quite simple to prepare 1-2 meals / day. Some rentals we've stayed in have been sparsely outfitted, but the owners and managers of Chillax go out of their way to make sure everything is easy - the kitchen had plenty of supplies (spices, oils, salt, pepper, butter) and even a few bottles of nice wine from the owners. The owners and local manages are exceptionally good with communications which made our stay easy and hassle-free. Can't wait to go back!
A few of our favorite memories:
- Diving with Erica and Coco at West End Divers -- Sea Turtles, Spotted Eels, Moray Eels, Rays
- Al fresco meals poolside at Chillax - watching fireworks from the locals on Christmas Eve (neighbor across the street "Ben" is a great guy and very helpful)
- Eating a fresh coconut from the trees on the property - my daughter and I made Pineapple / Coconut smoothies
- Eating a "Baleada" for breakfast at Calelu's Grocery - avocado, chorizo, egg, beans and the best tortilla you've ever eaten
- Swinging from the ropes of the "public" sailboat in Half Moon Bay - Great fun to swim to the boat and swing on the ropes with the locals
- Healthy lunch at LaLa's in West End - Excellent ceviche!
- Morning and evening walks on Sandy Bay Beach - very close to the house.

The first impressions and exhilarations gave way to disappointment when there was no hot water for 2 small children and my pregnant daughter to shower. The Manager was prompt to access the problem and attempted to resolve the issue himself. To no avail. Repairmen arrived and determined the water heat had failed. Day two came and went. Day three the new water heater was installed and the promise of a hot shower awaited our return from dinner that night. Alas, no hot water. The manager came and shared he had not adjusted the temperature to the very hot setting and he would make that adjustment. He tested the water in the kitchen sink to confirm our findings. The hot water never was resolved during our stay and manager Ton seemed to think we were just finicky guest and never returned. Even telling us we were free to leave if we were not having a good vacation, a suggestion we were in no position to accept on day 5 of our stay. The pool house bathroom flooded on the 1st day of our stay and was not repaired. The children had to run through the house wet from the pool to use the potty. The lack of a washer and dryer hampered the towels getting dry at the end of the day or to do any laundry.
The grounds are lovely, the setting atop a hill with views to the west end is breathtaking. The private pool was the main deciding factor for our family. The room set up is very functional. The second story master bedroom large and spacious. The street noise starts early and most noticeable from the master suite. If you are a early riser it will not bother. The dive shops and food service are really not in walking distance for the average person. We rented a car and this afforded us the run of the island. The major shopping market is a 10 minute drive back toward Coxin. The Thai, Tranquil sea, Lighthouse restaurants our favorite dining. The rotisserie chicken shack worth visiting.
Rudy the owner was engaging and vowed to fix the problems listed here. I believe he was most perplexed and offered remedies to our group.

Amazing home
Easily accessible from the airport. It takes approximately 25 minutes to get to the house. The neighborhood and vicinity of the house is well known in town. The property is willing to arrange transportation for guests. In terms of getting to the main area of the island, taxis pass by the house every few minutes.
The house is on top of a hill with a private road. From security perspective, the house has an iron gate and fence. Additionally, it has an alarm system connected to a private security company. The property is well maintained and offers a natural and clean environment.
From a comfort perspective, the layout of the house is excellent; with the luxurious master bedroom upstairs with balcony offering amazing views and air-conditioning system, the two additional bedrooms on the first floor have adequate space, private bathrooms and air-conditioning system. The property has a small pool that can be used for relaxing or hanging out before going out to check the many other attractions in the area.
The house has satellite TV and Wi-Fi for those who needing to keep tabs on work or family.
Most importantly, the house has no neighbors who can complain. Overall had an amazing experience and I would stay at the house again next time I am in the area.

Beautiful, private villa at exotic place
We had great time at Chillax and one of most memorable vacations in Roatan. This is very charming villa. Built in Caribbean style, the house has a character. It has covered patio facing a pool. On rainy days or lazy afternoons we sat there drinking cocktails and enjoying the surroundings. The pool was a favorite place for the kids who spent a lot of time playing there and chilling on hot days. There is nice waterfall feature. The wooden deck and benches around the pool are surrounded by exotic plants and blooming flowers, which along with surrounding palm trees give this unforgettable tropical feeling. There is also hammock by the pool (under the canopy of the pool house) - my daughter’s favorite place. We asked the gardener on the property to cut us a coconut (for drinking use the green ones) and we made some great pictures drinking coconut water from a coconut on the hammock.
Hummingbirds, local woodpeckers, lizards and geckos add to exotic surroundings. A local lizzard - Monkey Lala - runs on two feet and looks like a miniature dinosaur taken from Jurassic park.
When we came the house was clean and stocked with 2 5-gallon jugs of water. There were also beach and bath towels at our disposal. Soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided too although we used our own. Ton and ZIlla, the property managers, were attentive to our needs so if you need anything just give them a call. The kitchen has all the necessities and is equipped with stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and blender.
One thing that came very convenient is WiFi available everywhere in the house and in the yard. My daughter even watched Netflix on her iPhone. There is TV which ironically we never used.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor and large master bedroom on the second floor. I strongly recommend taking the master bedroom if you can. It is much larger and features wooden cathedral ceiling with little tower on the roof and nice bathroom with two showerheads. The balcony on the second floor has also great view to the ocean.
The bathrooms on the first floor were little outdated but we found more convenient to use the bath in the pool house coming out of the pool or coming back from the beach.
The bedrooms have ACs. While on breezy days staying outside was pleasant, there were hot and humid days where we found refuge in the coolness of the bedroom. Our nights were much more comfortable too.
Overall, we had great unfroget

We hope to rent from you again in the future!
I will begin by saying that I do vacation rentals for a living and one of the things I really focus on is quality control in the units. Thus, I might be a bit more critical than many, but I am very focused on guest experiences and avoiding their need to complain.
We had a lovely stay. It is a great house and the breeze up there on the hill is really nice. The house is well located and the view of the sunset from the master deck was wonderful. And the landscaping is gorgeous. We were a little surprised at the noise from the traffic when we first arrived, but we got over it pretty quickly. (We live in a pretty small mountain town so we are not used to the sound of traffic.)
Our friend we were traveling with arrived the night before us. When he spoke to Ton he was told that there were no nice beaches close by. Umm... sorry, but we fell absolutely in love with Sandy Bay. Yes, you have sea weed, but the beach is gorgeous and quiet and the snorkeling is great there. And swimming off the docks is wonderful. Not sure what the problem is. Of course we spent lots of time at West End and elsewhere, but Sandy Bay is at least worth a mention.
I do also want to thank you very much for letting Ton get us a blender. The smoothies and cocktails were delicious!
Like I said, our overall stay was really nice. We hope to rent from you again in the future!

Great place to stay.. we're definitely coming back
We had a great time at Chillax Roatan. The house is close enough to visit all the important places (dinning, diving, drinking, shopping, etc), but just far enough for it to be peaceful. Everything was very clean and the rooms are great. We brought our own food and had everything we needed to cook, including a grill! They even offered to shop for us and have the groceries at the house. The master bedroom is amazing and has a great view. WiFi works perfectly and there's cable (not that we watched any). The pool stays cool throughout the day, and there's always a little shade around it. The hosts were on time to check us in and out. And just a phone call away. I had several questions before getting there. They even suggested a couple of activities around the island.
A great place to vacation.. we're definitely coming back!!!
