Located in Malibu, this lovely condo for $400 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Panoramic ocean views from every room. Located on the sand. This beautiful, restful beach is known as Carbon Beach or Billionaires Row, catering to many celebrities. Less than a minute to restaurants, world famous Malibu Pier and Surfrider Beach! This vacation rental is open and spacious. This deluxe 1 bedroom sleeps 5. It has a wood burning fireplace, hardwood floors, a very large deck and panoramic views of the coastline. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and granite counters. There are stairs to the beach that lead directly from the vacation rental. The rental has 1 bedroom with a king size bed. In addition there is a large sleeper sofa and a day bed in the large living room. Included with the rental is a one-car garage and parking for an extra car. In addition, the property is gated for extra privacy. Fully equipped with a gas barbecue, gas range, microwave, refrigerator, linens and all essentials for cooking & dining. We provide all linens, towels, beach chairs and the kitchen comes fully equipped, so you don't need to pack those essentials. There is also a washer & dryer on site for your convenience. There is garage parking and the property is gated for extra privacy. You can plan for a wonderful, carefree, relaxing vacation. There are panoramic ocean views from every room and a large deck for relaxing and dining. There are steps from the vacation rental to a dry sandy beach with an outdoor shower for washing off the sand. When you are not on the beach, you can enjoy the two flat screen HD TVs, Blu-Ray, stereo with IPod connection, CD player and Wi-Fi. Enjoy the beautiful beaches of Malibu! We loved the property and it was great to have the property manger meet us . He helped us with any questions and was there if we had any problems which we did not . We lost our keys and they searched for them ,for days , we finally found them in the rental car , but we appreciate their effort

My twin sister and I spent a relaxing weekend, listening to the waves and walking on the beach to celebrate our 50th. You can’t beat the location and the views. You can walk to restaurants or take a short drive to the Malibu Country Mart. We enjoyed the fire at night and had morning coffee on the deck and down on the beach! I would definitely stay here again!

This was our second time at this complex and this unit is amazing... The deck is huge. The location and views are spectacular. FYI: if you want your car to fit in the garage, get a very small one.

We've stayed at Sea Lion and the other VRBO properties owned by this host for over three years now. Angel the on site property manager is always super kind and helpful with any of our needs during our stay. I would absolutely recommend this place for folks who want a fabulous location and who like the ocean so close that it feels like you're sailing. Now this place is not Super Luxurious but neither is the price so I think it's very reasonable. For folks that prefer luxury and opulence the neighboring hotel has rooms starting at $900 a night :-/ This is more of a cozy cottage and it's just great. We will definitely stay here many more times.

I don’t understand all the rave reviews. We were very disappointed with the property itself. A lot of regular maintenance that’s needs to occur. For instance, the cabinet doors are all hanging off and need tightened, the ceiling fan is all cracked and needs replaced, cobwebs and dead bugs needs to be cleaned up throughout the unit (there were 20-50 dead bugs on the ceiling in the shower). Unit needs to be sprayed for ants. The overwhelming smell of bleach was too strong for our children and the sheets were stained. The WiFi and tv wouldn’t work in the bedroom. The biggest disappointment for us was that neither of the back doors (which led directly to the beach) would lock properly which presented a safety risk especially since we were traveling with toddlers. The listing stated beach front but really should be ocean property. As the waves come all the way up to the property and crash underneath. Therefore making it not really suitable to access the beach from the property. When we tried to reach out to the property management about our concerns they were unresponsive.
We were so uncomfortable that we ended our stay several days early and left the property within 24hrs. We will not be staying at this property again.

We loved staying at the Sea Lion! The deck was beautiful and lots of good places to eat. Just a note to bring ear plugs and eye masks if anyone is sleeping on the pull out couch as the waves are quite loud and there is no blind on the sliding door.

The proximity the ocean and the terrace made up for any shortcomings if the house itself. Kitchen was clean and had all the utensils and appliances we needed. Beds we’re comfortable and clean. Small things like lamps, dvd player were old and 3 out if 4 didnt work. Towels, blankets, pillows were plentiful and clean. Malibu is crowded and there is little parking but staying at the property and enjoying the view and sound of the ocean made up for the negatives.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The unit was ready, easy to access upon arrival. Angel, was wonderful - accessible, friendly and helpful.
The sound of the waves was incredible and we slept better than we have in years. It was wild having the waves crashing just below the deck. We loved just sitting on the deck immersed in the ocean sites/sounds.
Unit was well-stocked with kitchen items and linens.
Location was amazing…steps to the shore of one of the most famous beaches in the world, and a short walk to the pier. We found some lovely sea glass and shells and experienced a few exciting up-close encounters with famous people as we strolled the beach. We enjoyed breakfast on the pier, dinner at Duke’s down the road, and accessible shopping in town.
Very affordable relative to other properties that close to the beach/ocean in the area and that more than made up for the things we thought could be better.
The unit needs some TLC because of the toll the salt water/air takes on things and it was challenging keeping the floors clean of sand and salt water. There were two lamps in the living room space that didn’t work - one seemed burned out and the other had a broken switch so we couldn’t turn it on. There were 1 or 2 broken window latches and the sliding door didn’t lock properly.
Sometimes high tide sprayed water onto the deck and into the door. A floor mat there would be helpful.
We truly loved it and we hope to return in the future.

Three days at Sea lion apartment A was just perfect.
10 miles as the crow flies - for a vacation never crossed my mind but oh boy this is the best - we had fog / felt chilly at first/ had amazing sunshine ( while LA was in a heatwave) all setting the mood for this place. The waves are loud and the views beautiful. This is an historic Malibu building and we think it has all the charm and nostalgia we wanted from our trip, plus a great view of the pier and queens necklace . Get up for sunrise - or an early morning walk - chairs on the sand - cook and eat on the balcony - or the pier - repeat ! Book an extra day it’s very hard to leave - the apartment is well stocked with plenty of room but it’s won’t matter too much because the large balcony will be the spot for your time here…… just watching the ocean….the beach…..the coastline …..and the sky…. You will be greeted by Angel and crew who were very helpful throughout our visit. Can’t wait to come back

The place is close to everything, perfect location, but the inside needs some updating. The sliding glass door was almost impossible to open, and our fridge had water dripping inside on its shelves.

After spending time at the Sea Lion on the most amazing beach….ocean we have ever experienced in Southern California, we are filled with such gratitude and our spirits feel renewed and relaxed.
Although the Sun rarely appeared the entire 9 days we were there…I wouldn’t want to change a thing.
It was truly a mystical feeling being above the ocean. Waves crashing…..misty mornings ….dolphins…sea lions…breakfast and dinners on our own beautiful patio.
Found many beautiful seashells….
This condo was large, bright, and just a perfect beach house.
We loved being at the condo so much that we rarely left….cancelled restaurant reservations….put off visiting other beaches (as they were so crowded) our beach was almost secluded….most of the time we had it all to our selves!
Some people refer this time of year as June Gloom…we call it paradise!
Thank you Angel for your care and thoughtfulness while we were there.
We had an entirely different vacation and new experiences
than we have ever had vacationing Southern California over the last 40 years.

Location, location, location. Sight and sound of the waves so close to the balcony was lovely. Also, great proximity to the pier, restaurants and hiking. Perfect spot if you are a surfer with first point in walking distance.
The property itself is a little worn. The bathroom could use an update. However, it was clean and nice linens provided. What we were expecting by the pictures and considering the price.

We had a great vacation at this unit and sightseeing around LA, despite it being a somewhat chilly week.
We got check in instructions and some directions to find the gate which were very easy to follow. Angel met us on the property and was very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay as he was on the property most days.
Many of the buildings along the PCH in this area are older and show some effects of the surf and sea air so I'm not counting this against the review, because despite the age this property is well maintained and very clean.
The unit had an abundance of extra linens, towels and pillows and plenty of closet space. The kitchen was a nice size and all the appliances worked well. Logs were provided for the fireplace which was so nice on chilly evenings.
The coastline view from the deck is great and the waves crash right under the balcony. Nice to fall asleep to the sounds every night.

Awesome condo right on the beach, with its own gated parking! Bring Quarters for the washer/dryer and Zip Loc bags for all your food, as sugar ants found there way in our first day. The property was very clean, though, and our family will definitely be back!

The condo had everything you could possibly need. The extra trundle daybed is such a great idea as the unit is a very nice size. The balcony directly on the beach was our favorite place to be. It was incredible. We saw dolphins and sea lions every morning. Angel showed us around upon arrival which we really appreciated it. We would most definitely return. Thank you!!

The location is perfect. You are walking distance from the Malibu Pier, the Adamson House and several good restaurants. Ralph’s Grocery Store and Whole Food and the Malibu Country Mart (nice outdoor upscale mall) is a five minute drive. The unit has a large deck and Carbon Beach is one of the nicest in Malibu. If traveling in the cooler months the fireplace is a big plus(they provide duraflame logs). The unit is very roomy. The view from the deck is Heaven.
CONS:
The building is a bit tired. The furniture is old and kind of a mix match of styles. Same with kitchen utensils and pots and pans. There was only plate-ware for four people. Glasses old and mix matched. There is No dishwasher. Washer and Dryer is outside the unit and coin operated. The bathroom is SMALL and old. They have painted is white and brightened it up with colorful shower curtains.
That said for the price I think you can not bet Sea Lion! Also Angel (management) and his crew are absolutely wonderful!
