The hotel itself is a little old, like many of the hotels in this area, so I knew what I was walking into when I booked it. That said, I do wish the rooms and the hotel in general were taken care of a little better.
The main ground-floor area, where breakfast is served, had a slightly funky smell during my stay. I didn’t have breakfast there, so I can’t comment on the food itself.
The room was clean, and the linen and beds were clean, but the overall look and feel of the room didn’t feel quite as clean because of how old and worn some things were. You could especially tell that the headboard area of the bed had seen better days.
The room itself was also very, very tight. However, I knew this before booking and chose it anyway because of the good value for money compared to the other options in the area.
Overall, it’s a decent option if you’re looking for something affordable and understand that the hotel is older and the rooms are quite small. At the same time, you’re getting one of the best locations possible, right in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, where all the action is, and the value for money is hard to beat.
The main things I didn’t like were the smell throughout the hotel and the general lack of attention to detail. There was a slightly funky smell, particularly around the main ground-floor area.
I also didn’t like that throughout my entire stay, there was a cleaning cart parked on my floor with all the cleaning supplies and equipment on it. It was always there and made the hallway look quite messy and untidy.
The hotel is also quite old and some areas could definitely use a bit more care and maintenance. The room itself was clean, including the bed and linen, but the overall look and feel was quite dated and worn.
