About this house rental
Our oldest structure at Stevenson Ridge dates back to 1732, this two-story home boasts a master suite with a queen bed, bathroom adorned with modern fixtures, two wood-burning fireplaces, living room, kitchenette and private patio overlooking the pond. Nestled between a heavy cluster of trees, the Spy Hill House is the ideal lodging for a quiet and secluded retreat. Maximum 2-person occupancy. Cottage is NOT pet-friendly.
AMENITIES:
Wood-burning fireplaces with complimentary firewood October through March.
Heat and AC in all cottages.
Refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster, unless mentioned otherwise under the cottage description.
Complimentary regular and decaf coffee, tea selection, and accompaniments.
Luxurious linens and plush bathrobes.
Bath amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hairdryer.
Iron and ironing board.
Walking trails and original Civil War earthworks.
Gated access.
Wi-Fi and cable.

Check-In after 3:00 PM, Check-Out by 11:00 AM.
Cottages are Smoke-Free.
Entertaining is strictly prohibited.

Make the relaxing evenings even more pleasant with a fire pit rental: a private outdoor pit delivered to your cabin, a s’mores kit for two, 10 pieces of wood, 2 chairs, and fire-making fixings (newspaper, kindling, matches, and poker). $10 per additional guest.
Private 2-Hour Guided Battlefield Tour $100
Learn from one of the area’s best historians first-hand as you enjoy a two-hour private guided tour of one of the local Civil War Battlefields. Call or email us to inquire about availability.

During the 1864 battle of Spotsylvania, three-quarters of the Union army moved through the property that is now Stevenson Ridge. Learn about our Civil War history, and get the behind-the-scenes story of our extensive earthworks, with a guided tour from one of our nationally known historians.

Can’t say enough good things. We are happily enjoying a piece of important history away from the madding crowds…away from any crowds, thankfully. Love Stevensridge and the beautifully maintained and restored properties here. We are touring the battlefields tomorrow with an historian and have learned about the Battle of Spotsylvania by being here. The Spy Hill house is unique and and perfect for two people…warm, peaceful, and private with a pond in the backyard. Lovely amenities provided by the owners. We will be back at some point…would love to experience this area in late fall or even in the winter. So much history here. We planned this trip to Spotsylvania as a stopping point while on our way to Maryland to visit our son. Having driven through here on the way to DC and and Maryland before, we decided to make it a destination on our way up from NC. This was a great decision!

We enjoyed our stay at Spy Hill house. It was a quick stop-over on a long drive and such a great option instead of a hotel room. Everything we needed was there. Good blend of historic plus modern comfort, close to the interstate but private with trees and the pond out back. We were grateful for a local restaurant that delivered pizza so we didn't have to go out again; we also ordered the breakfast basket and it was amazing! So much food - all of it delicious!

Beautiful home. We rent spy hill anytime we're driving home and passing through Fredericksburg for a quick meal and rest. Worth every penny.
