About this house rental
Situated in Acadia National Park, this lovely house for $420 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Ledgewood Cottage is nestled on three private acres on the quiet side of Mt. Desert Island. Situated on an island at the northern end of Long Pond, the largest lake on Mt. Desert Island, the home is secluded but within easy reach of all the area has to offer. The beach at Long Pond, with its dock and canoe and kayak rental, is just up the road, and the towns of Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Northeast Harbor are all an easy drive away. The nearby mountains are interlaced with National Park hiking trails. After a day of exploring the carriage roads and trails, lakes and villages of Mt. Desert Island, come back along the winding woodland road to the peace and comfort of Ledgewood Cottage. The house is a four bedroom year-round vacation home, and features spacious living rooms on two floors, as well as two distinct master bedrooms. The two upper levels are air conditioned, and the partially below grade lower level remains comfortable year-round. Entering from the comfortably furnished deck, you will enter a cathedral ceilinged great room. At the near end are a dining area and well equipped skylit chef's kitchen with two-oven Jenn Air range. Complimentary spices and condiments are provided. Beyond the kitchen, the larger section of the great room holds a living room, with two long couches, extra chairs, large flat screen TV and speakers. Area maps and guidebooks are provided here to help guests plan each day's adventures. Next to the great room is the large dining porch with seating for eight, the perfect gathering spot at the start and end of the day. Three walls of windows fill the room with sunlight, and a bar holds glasses and barware, as well as puzzles and board games. On the other side of the great room, a hallway leads to two pine paneled bedrooms. The main floor master bedroom has a king bed and en suite bathroom with both a walk-in shower and deep jetted soaking tub. Across the hall, a second bedroom holds two twin beds. A laundry and another full bathroom with large walk-in shower complete the main floor. Ledgewood Cottage's upper level holds the second master bedroom, a spacious relaxing sleep loft with king bed, two skylights, and view across the great room to treetops and sky. The lower level of the house holds the fourth bedroom, with four-poster queen bed and private outside entrance. Newly added this year on our lower level is a large second living room, with couches, tv, and table with board games and jigsaw puzzles. Our four bedrooms are distributed on three levels, providing guests with privacy. Our twin bedroom and pack and play are ideal for two or three younger children, and the other three bedrooms are suitable for adults and older children (the master sleep loft is just for adults). At Ledgewood Cottage, every effort has been made to provide visitors with a rewarding and memorable vacation. Our goal is to ensure that guests have everything they need, and will feel they have truly found a welcoming home away from home. Ledgewood Cottage is a no smoking, no pets vacation home. Due to our family's severe allergies, we cannot allow dogs under any circumstances. We ask that guests not request special permission for their own four-legged family member, regardless of size, breed, or good behavior.

3 couples from MI stayed at this lovely hideaway in a wooded paradise in Mount Desert Maine. After long days on the trail we cooked in the well equipped kitchen and ate so much fresh seafood we made the official name of the vacation Butter Week. 10/10 would stay again.

We had a great time!! The house is clean and very spacious. We loved that we were close to Acadia but off the main roads to give you that privacy and those natural surroundings that make that area great. The owner is great to work with and provided all information in a very timely manner. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to the area. If you are looking for a close jumping off point to Acadia especially with a larger group or with kids, this is the house for you.

Beautiful house in a quiet woodsy neighborhood. Conveniently located to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and Bangor. House was very nice and perfect for our trip. The owners are very responsive and go the extra mile to ensure that their vacationers are happy. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, well maintained property on the quiet side of Bar Harbor. The listing is 100% accurate and exceeded our expectations. There is plenty of room for everyone and the home had everything we needed. Julie was fantastic to work with and it was a pleasure to rent her property. This house did the job.
The basement level good for a teen or kids to get some space - though ours never seem to give us much!

Our family enjoyed our stay at Ledgewood very much. It is located in the perfect spot for easy access to Acadia National Park but secluded enough to have a quiet family vacation. The house was adequately supplied to make family meals. We appreciated the spacious living space and large dining table.

We loved the open layout and quiet location in the woods. We were not far from hiking and other downtown shopping/eateries. We loved having a house to hang out in with our friends, as opposed to separate hotel rooms. This home made our first trip to Maine most enjoyable!

This place was everything I want from a rental. The space was gorgeous and well appointed, the owner sent very detailed directions about getting there, checking in, and checking out, and it was very clean and well kept. I knew ahead of time that it was going to be "in the middle of nowhere," but as someone who also lives in the middle of nowhere, and has visited friends and family in many such places, I wasn't worried, and actually had much better cell reception and GPS connection than I expected, even at the house. We arrived at night in pouring rain, but still had no trouble finding the place thanks to the directions. Thankfully the weather for the rest of our stay was perfect. We had also unwittingly scheduled to be there during a meteor shower, and the house is in a dark enough location that the Milky Way is visible and I was able to see dozens of shooting stars from the deck. The only thing of note is that there is a tree branch wedged under the eaves of the window on the upper floor, and during the rain and wind the first night it caused some noise and should probably be removed to avoid damaging the roof. But overall our stay was great and I would 100% return in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed Ledgewood Cottage! Acadia National Park is so beautiful, but can also be crowded in the fall. Ledgewood Cottage is in an ideal location on the "Quiet Side" of Mount Desert Island (on and Island in a pond on an island!) and provided a quiet and peaceful and beautiful respite at the end of a day of hiking or sailing or sightseeing. The house is tastefully appointed, well maintained, and was adequately stocked for our needs--we prepared our own meals most days--and we especially enjoyed the gas grill on the deck, and hearing the loons on Long Pond. If I make it back to Acadia, I will definitely try to rent Ledgewood Cottage again!

Perfection!
We had a total of 8 of us (2 couples, each with two children), and this property was perfection! It was an easy half hour drive to most of the main hikes we wanted to do (Ocean path, Thunder Hole, Cadillac Cliffs, Jordan Pond, etc). It was also a quick 10-15 minute drive to Echo Lake Beach, which our children enjoyed immensely. The property even had some sand toys available for them! What a lovely touch. The rooms were all cool and clean, even on the hot summer days we had. We are avid chefs, and let me tell you- the kitchen had every pot, pan, utensil, you could ever need. It even had a lovely array of spices and condiments. Everywhere you looked, there were amazing little comforts. There was a basket of board books for the children, hair dryers and makeup removal towelettes in the bathrooms, maps and guidebooks galore, and so much more. It really was the perfect location for our summer vacation in Acadia! Thank you so much!

Cabin in the woods
Everything about our stay was easy. It was well stocked and cozy. Loved sitting out on the deck and enjoying the beautiful weather. On the quiet side of MDI but very convenient to both sides of the island. It’s a bit of a drive from the main road, and I suggest avoiding it at night if at all possible.

Great place to stay!
We loved this house and property! There were 6 adults so it was nice to each have our own space as couples. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, pots and utensils. As well as some spices and oil which was a great bonus! The house was very clean and in such a nice wooded area. It was just a short drive to everything we wanted to see (mostly Acadia and some of Bar Harbor.) We really had the best time and I definitely recommend staying at this property!

Great Property!
We had a fantastic time in Acadia National Park, and this house helped to facilitate that experience! Check in and Check out were well described and very easy. The house was very well equipped with anything you'd need. We really needed laundry (our kids enjoyed splashing around in the tide pools, hiking, Sand Beach, etc.) so that was a great feature. We used the grill twice, baked some brownies, cooked, etc. We utilized both living spaces, corralling the kids downstairs at times to get some things done/play games as adults. Oh, and they have Sorry, Scrabble, UNO, and other games for when you're just hanging out at the house too! We were a group of 3 Adults and 3 Kids, (we were supposed to have two more adults, but they couldn't make it) and it was a very comfortable environment. Just so future guests know, it is very far back on the gravel road. We were in a rented minivan, so no big deal, but just so you're aware - it does take a while to drive in and back out of the rustic "neighborhood." That didn't bother us, as we liked the seclusion! But we just figured we'd point that out. To sum up, this house is PERFECT for your stay in Acadia!

Especially with covid, it's great to have space that's open and doesn't feel cramped - plenty of area for people to chat, play games, eat, and go for a walk. While there is no water view, the launch to long pond is very close and Bar Harbor in striking distance. If you want to be where the action is, this is not the place for you.
