About this cottage rental
Set in the courtyard of our own home, but completely separate and private, Gadbury Cottage is cosy and very comfortable whether your choice is for a winter or summer break. It offers an ideal location to discover Oxford and the nearby attractions of Oxford City, Blenheim Palace, Shotover Park, Waterperry Gardens, Otmoor nature reserve, the Chilterns and Cotswolds Hills. Wheatley has all the facilities to meet your immediate needs - 2 foodstores, baker, coffee shop, post office, bank and choice of restaurants and pubs. The village has a long history through it's location on the main coaching route from London to Oxford - it was once descibed as the most agreeable stopping place between Beaconsfield and Woodstock. Today it's transport links are still excellent being just 2 miles from the Thornhills Park and Ride and a similar distance from the M40. There are regular bus services to Oxford and to Haddenham/Thame train station. Central London is c53 miles and Heathrow c45 miles, both have good public transport links.

This is an exceptionally great place to stay! Charming, clean and cosy, other than being a little challenging to actually find on arrival, we had no concerns or complaints at all.
The village itself is an absolute delight with two amazing local pubs. It was magical to wander around it shortly after getting settled the first day as we recuperated after our night flight from Canada. Wisteria was in full spring bloom! The bus stop into Oxford was a pleasant short stroll away. It runs regularly making day trips easy.
In the evenings we really enjoyed the fire with the firewood provided. The beautiful old windows all opened and the sounds of British birdsong every morning was the best alarm clock a person could ask for.
The beds were comfortable and the linens were of a high quality. As were most of the furnishings. If you’re a large person, you may have trouble fitting in the toilet space lol.
The host were responsive and helpful but also discreet so you felt quite private despite the cottage being on the same property.

Gadbury Cottage what's the perfect base for our explorations. Everything was as pictured and described. A delicious (and still warm) loaf of brown bread welcomed weary travelers along with tea, milk, and sugar. The beds were comfortable. Everything was spotless. We only wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the lovely garden more.Tip: We found that if we entered Our Lady of Lourdes, Catholic Church, Wheatley, into the GPS, it was easy to find.

The only thing that let it down was the bathroom, extremely small not as clean as i would like.
